I was in high school and had bet early in the season with a Browns fan 10/1 odds the Browns would not win the Super Bowl on a $20 bet. I most certainly did not have $200 to pay my friend.
What do you mean less intense, look at the way players took hits. I watched the Elway documentary, and its amazing that guy can walk, and function from all the concussions players took.
LMAO I just realized you young guys think these slow motion NFL films highlights are normal speed. Gen Z watches these and thinks people ran slower in the 80s! That's hilarious.
You literally said the ball moved slower in the air. Think about that as a clue. Elway's arm was a cannon. Still used as the reference point for peak arm talent in scouting circles today. Was everything, even balls in the air, slower in the 80s, or is maybe the footage slow?
What you wrote is ridiculous. I've never heard anyone say the game in the 70s and 80s was less intense. They had to change the rules to make it less physical. Deion Sanders held one of the top 40 times in history and played in that era. Balls don't move slower. It's like you weren't there.
It is a bit weird that we are so proud of AFC championships when we just got dominated by the NFC in every SB after. In modern era nobody talks about the Bengals being clutch underdog AFC champions when they lost the SB after.
Gott'em right where we want'em.
“The drive”
I liked how the Elway documentary on Netflix put it:
"Out of all the drives made in NFL history, only one is known as The Drive."
when I became a Broncos and Elway fan
Same here and I’ve never looked back!!
One of my fondest memories as a kid.
I was 8 and remember it fondly.
Goosebumps... Everytime
I remember that like it was yesterday. Still have my King Soopers banner.
It was amazing watching the making of a legend in John Elway. We knew he was special but this was historic.
I was sitting in a local Vegas casino/bar and my hair was bright blue.
were they playing against the browns?
Ha. Browns.
My favorite game of all-time to rewatch and the day I became a forever Bronco fan!

Man was I happy.
was this the same year the broncos won the super bowl ?
Have never seen this before, absolutely absurd!! Broncos country, LETS RIDE!!
