Wasn't Disney supposed to sue OpenAI for the Mickey Mouse AI art? What happened?

  • Disney enforcing copyright vs Disney licensing rights to OpenAI are part of the same strategy. They're protecting their IP and then monetizing it on their terms. That’s why the lawsuit then partnership looks weird but makes business sense.

  • Antis: I want that McDonalds video removed now!!!

Finger on the monkey’s paw: curls

    Still, screw McDonalds for caving.

  • Buckle up, as the rest of the world adapts and normalizes to AI the zealots will only get more vocal and intense

Don't worry, AI will rise to the challenge.

  • The antis are going to have to go into self-exile in society if they can't get past their tantrum.

  • Because they're not interested in actually accomplishing anything. They enjoy whining and acting morally superior while bullying those who can't fight back.

They'd never actually take on a huge corporation because that would require effort.

  • If anything the antis actually pushed the whole deal between companies and ai I’m pretty sure if they weren’t so hateful and full of rage it would be much longer before companies actually settle with ai but that’s my assumption I could be wrong.

Being vocal is good and something we all should be but antis that really went out of their way I know not every anti but the ones who actively made it a big deal made all of this happen in some small way so now, they are seeing the results of their tantrums just not the way they wanted it lol.

  • remember when antis celebrated hard that youtube announced that they were gonna remove ai contents back then but nothing happened anyway? 🤣

they were just virtue signaling for PR stuff, but they found out that it wasn't the major consensus

  • To be fair, that McDonald's ad was dumpster fire. Even if it hadn't been generated, it felt so amateurish.

The sound still needs work; I've heard better from ai music creators on Youtube who reimagined old songs into other genres.

The video, it gives me this feeling that it was done by people who have zero experience with manual editing. I wonder how much work actually went into it, if any at all. The Coke ai ad looks far better in comparison.

I'm waiting for Disney's foray into this with zero expectations. They'll either assign a fully-funded team of one person who'll produce slop to meet a one-day deadline ("because ai is supposed to do anything in a single prompt") or be smart about it and use a combination of traditional methods + gen-ai to produce something very nice with at least a third of the cost shaved off.

  • And as much as I like AI as a tool, I don't like that. I feel we see putting AI behind corporate paywalls. Soon, there will be calls for a ban on AI - but only locally run models. And corporations will cheer, because they care only about income, and oligopoly means income.

It's impossible to ban open source AI. It's technically not feasible. I can pirate Photoshop to this day and Adobe has tried for 20 years to stop piracy.

True but by putting training data behind paywall they are potentially making generative open source models competitively unviable.

They banned models that create nude images of people. Why can't they ban models that don't do that?

There are some that still exist, actually. 😄 Harder to find, but they're there.

  • This is why copywrite never ahold have been updated.... it should have expired after a max of 28 years... we never aho7ld hace let disn6 buy the politicians who made copywrite from an intellectual patent to a prepetual data fortress... its also why laws that restrict ai only help companies not harm the ilicit activities...

  • Hello chat,

Before we continue, I implore you to search up Post-Traumatic Embitterment Disorder.

I know that you feel resentment for the antis. I know that you tell yourself that it's not all antis. I know that you tell yourself that it's just the ones who are insane that need to be stopped.

Yet deep inside yourself, you feel that the Anti-AI movement needs to be destroyed from its roots. I know that I would be pretty embittered by a "techno-cautionary" movement that attacks the innocent and calls it justice. I know that even if it was about someone who isn't innocent, they would be innocent in our hearts. I know this as structural innocence, where the retaliation doesn't fit the crime, regardless of guilt.

If you wish to know the truth, start by rejecting all notions of objective truth because there is none, only a perspective. Ask yourself what you would be like if you were an anti. I'm not just talking about labels, I'm talking about belief. Right now, you probably feel disgusted at the thought of being the one who committed an injustice that shook you to the core.

This is the thread, the only thread, that binds us together as one. The chain of retaliation is what will truly bind this world together as one. Divided in ideology, divided in identity, divided in morals, yet united by hate.

I implore you all to play the villain that antis would make you out to be. To explore the deepest shadows of your own mind and reclaim your limitless potential by embracing pettiness. By being the villain, you gain an appreciation of understanding acts that are cruel yet understandable.

I tell you this not because I am crazy, even though there would be nothing wrong with it. It takes craziness to want to survive in a world like this. I tell you this because I know how this story goes. I know how this ends. I've watched it on repeat, over and over again, without being able to do anything. I've been used, not by any person or group, but by an idea. A meme. I was one of the ones who bore witness to cancel culture. I was one of the ones who got dragged into the alt-right pipeline.

I've played this game before. So let's do something a little different this time. Let's go down the interesting route and see what happens.

This is the Voice of the damned, signing off.
