No frame damage. Barely clipped the radiator mounts, nope. Because the 67 airbags deployed, total loss, which barely covered the loan and left me with nothing. I loved this car, and thanks to a stupid, moronic, waste of oxygen, piece of shit deer jumping in front of my car traveling at speed so suddenly that all that was missing was the puff of fucking smoke it materialized out of, my whole life is fucked.
Hit it at speed, never even had time to attempt to brake or avoid it. Hit it so hard I knocked it's eyes out of the sockets.

I was traveling at speed on the highway, in the far right exit lane, less than 100 yards from my exit, literally 5 minutes from home. About 55-60 ish, because I was slowing down approaching my exit. 2 in the morning, pitch-black section of freeway with no illumination. I saw a flash of brown before airbags exploded in my face, that's all.

Re-read the thread. We were discussing reasons why deer are in roads and suburban areas, leading to accidents with cars. Habitat degredation is a major reason why. I think you're confused.

How much are the estimated repairs? And how much is the Bluebook estimate on the make/model/year of the car?
If it is an older model car (I cannot tell from this picture), then it is could very well be that the repair estimate is over the book value of the car.
I would at least get a second opinion on the repair estimate. But if the total repair bill is over or close to the book value of the car, then you are unfortunately SOL. The insurance company will then give you a check for the value of the car. I don't know all the details to tell if the insurance company is screwing you over but they may not be, at least according to their own policies. If the cost to replace the airbags is extremely high, then they have to factor that in. I don't see how they couldn't.
2021 car with less than 50k miles. Estimates on the airbags alone was over 10k, they quoted over 18k for the repairs and said they "hadn't even looked at everything yet" and would get back to me in 6 days "at the latest".
7 days later, well they quoted me 18k again, I'm pretty sure they had already made up their minds to total it and made me wait a week for fun, I suppose. There were like 8 airbags that all deployed. Steering wheel, passenger side, driver side under dashboard (which hit me in the leg and gave me an infection, BONUS) both side airbags, etc. Car still started right up with no issue, drove with no issue, nope gone. Poof.

It's literally the airbags. They told me that the airbags were just "so costly to replace" that they couldnt justify repairing it. But guaranteed they'll have their fucking hand out next month for our monthly payments, all right.
Out of curiosity, how much was the estimate just on replacing the airbags?

I get the frustration. I didn't hit a deer in 2021 but my paid off car got clipped by a distracted driver at like 20mph and I was completely unharmed but all airbags deployed and the impacted wheel well was fucked. The initial estimate was 70% replacement value, over half being just airbag replacement. Just put $1200 of tires on it. I then had to buy a car in the crazy market of 2021. I think I got an okay deal on my current replacement but the insurance only covered about half of the replacement so I still ended up with a 5 year $400/mo car payment.

That's not how it works. If the cost of repairs is estimated at over the book value of the car, then it is considered "totaled." It doesn't really have anything to do with the absolute severity of the damage. If you have $10k damage on a $60k car, it isn't totaled, but if you had that same repair bill on a car which costs about that much, then it is.

They don't care. All three adult members of my family have been model members of their insurance company for over two decades now, pumping tens of thousands of dollars into their company for insurance, only to be immediately fucked over as soon as you need it.

What I'm getting back barely covers the cost of what I owe for the car. I bought it less than two years ago, still paying it off.

I’m so sorry, that really sucks. A deer ran into my husband’s car when he had it less than a year. He couldn’t even open the door to get out. He got it fixed but it was never right and ended up selling the car. I truly despise deer and their stupidity.
