I don't see the problem. There is no first rung so it's clear to me I'd have to flip down that last piece. My attic pull down stairs have a piece that has to be flipped down, to get them to the ground.
I need to see where these go. If they're the stairs to a bedroom, yeah, that's a problem. If they are for occasional access to the attic, they're no worse than my pull down stairs.
Temporary stairs.. ( permanent) injuries!
permeant
Thank you
It's so close to being a really clever problem-solving design.
We've all gotta go sometime
But not that way😵
I wouldn't trust the hinges to hold in that narrow cut of wood. But when it breaks on your way up the stairs, you can break your chin, too!
I don’t trust the steps. That wood looks way too thin, and it’s only being held there by two nails in each end.
I wouldn’t trust the direction of forces on that square base.
Come on now flip baby. Flip Baby. Flip Baby. 1 2 3 4 Let Me See Your Body Fall.

The cut should be 90°. Having the hinge in that little sliver of wood is a weak point
Maybe they gorilla glued it along with screws to double attach the hinges 🤷🏽♀️
Mine, too.
Missing railing? Steepness of the steps? Steps are too narrow?

That could really hurt if not handled properly 🥺😬
DeathLadder
don’t worry. you’ll flip one way or another
Flip when? Going down or going up?🧐😃
Going down has an auto-flipping mode. Pretty clever
Yes it flips automatically and you end up face down blocking the door
...And land on my neck
Creative, at least.
The wood looks way too thin and the hinges way too flimsy.
Oh gods, I've been to an Air BnB that had these. They were insane.
You could turn Tyne into monkey bars. 😂
Load bearing screws?
If there is a lock young children can’t reach, this would be a good safety feature besides having the lower section out of the way.
Someone’s at the door honey, can you just nip down quick and check?
