You don't understand why fans of a character would want to see said character?
I joke, a little, but it is that simple. We wanna see more Kyle Rayner :D especially now that DC is oddly ramping up their usage of Kyle (he's getting a one shot for K.O, he's a main lantern in Green Lantern Corps, he'll be THE main lantern for the Green Lantern ongoing this March I believe), a lot of us are just in that Kyle fever. Kyle vs Simon was very Simon ft Kyle for an animation, yet it convinced a lot of people that this lantern was a cool character, so a lot of this glaze is really just us being like, yeah, he is really cool :D and he can be really cool in Death Battle even without Simon
I think it's a situation like Po vs Iron Fist, where a lot more people cared about Simon, but Kyle was given his fair dues.
He got to be a lot more creative then Hal was against Ben, he gets actual original dialogue (Simon is the kinda guy to repeat himself a lot, but he still got barely any lines not from Gurren Lagann), the climax of the fight takes place in a DC location. I'd argue that Kyle fans would get more out of Simon vs. Kyle then Simon fans just because once they enter the Source Wall, Simon just does what he did against Antispiral (break out of mindhax, new super form, big drill, fistfight). Sure, Kyle just does what Antispiral did against Simon, but at least it's not something he's done before.
I don't hate the climax of Simon vs. Kyle, it's still good, but it's the ground fight and TTGL vs. Kyle's Superman construct is what makes the episode great to me.
I’d have to personally disagree, even if I do believe the episode gave him dues.
He was more creative than Hal, but I think that just comes down to having more budget and time. While he did have more lines - he also shares a massive monologue with Simon that is just explicitly referencing Simon’s series. The climax of the fight does take place in a dc local, but the majority of the settings could definitely be referred to as Gurren Lagann locations/homages. Kyle isn’t shafted but the episode is tailor made to be the Simon the digger episode, and a lot of what Kyle does reflects that (the I’m a digger monologue, the fist fight, the drill clash) that’s not to say it’s not amazing, it is, but for the majority of the fight, Kyle is on the reactive and can only really move in response to Simon, if that makes sense. I would really have to disagree that a Kyle fan would get more out of it then a Simon fan, because as a fan of both - I was a lot more satisfied with Simon’s portrayal over Kyle personally. If someone said that was the perfect episode for Simon, and that he never needed to return after that, I’d agree but I wouldn’t extend that same thought process to Kyle personally.
"B-b-bb-b-b-bb-ut Kyle is a character he's not a ser-" SHHHHHHHH

Kyle vs Phoenix mentioned❤️🩹
Very peak stuff
I do not understand Kyle Rayner fans.
This isn't a dig, I'm just genuinely confused.
Are you familiar with what’s happening to half life fans?
Just take that and minimise it to a much nicher thing is the general answer for the average kylephile. Not all but the majority.

I wouldn't say it's Simon ft. Kyle.
