Anyone else feel this is anyoing I've felt that a lot of Bowie's Remastered albums are way too quiet I wish they made the tracks louder when Remastering them which is why I make Remasters of the already existing Remasters let me know if you also think this is a problem also it's mainly with earbuds or headphones my phone speaker volume is louder then headphones or earbuds
I haven't looked into them, but they may have been mixed to have a higher dynamic range and less compression, which would improve the overall sound quality while lowering the volume compared to other albums. A lot of pop songs competing for airtime against other pop songs get compressed way too much so that they stand out via perceived loudness.
Thanks mohar
The sound is finally restored to its true value, there is no more compression, however music is not listened to on a phone or on a speaker, but with an amplifier and two stereo speakers....
I really don't think so. They are quieter than Earthling or Blackstar, that's for sure, but not so quiet that you can't pump them up plenty. I think you have issues going on with your headphones setup, or you need to change a setting on whatever you use to listen (i.e. disable Spotify's loudness normalization).
i’ve noticed they sound a bit quieter than other albums. i am by no means an expert but if you’re using wired headphones a dac/amplifier might help. this is the one i use and it makes music a good amount louder. it looks like it’s bit more expensive than when i bought mine but there’s a cheaper brand called ugreen that i remember having decent reviews when i was shopping for one.
Thanks for sharing but like I said I use an app to make my own Remasters but sometimes it doesn't work with the EQ feature because it sometimes makes that crackling noise when something's too loud so sometimes I have to make all the different songs different EQ levels because of that which gets annoying since an album is sometimes not consistent in volume I'll see if this helps
you’re using an app to “remaster” songs?
Yes it works well actually
Which albums are mastered quietly?
Mainly the 70s ones like Ziggy Aladdin sane TMWSTW STS Hunky Dory
The louder an album is mastered, the less dynamic range.
I will have more problems with my neighbors when I play records at max volume.
I’m not an audiophile…yea I do wish the remasters had the same sound level as the later albums just so that they match up if I have a random playlist going lol
strange, they sound too loud to my ears, at least compared to any other mix except the 1999 EMI’s which are borderline unlistenable
Sounds like you need an amplifier

vinyl doesn't have a greater dynamic range than any digital format
and comparing loudness of a vinyl with a digital format makes no sense because you're comparing a groove shape with a digit. apples and oranges
