I am not alone in thinking that Bowie's Reality and The Next Day albums have a lot of similarities in their sound and almost feel like they go together to an extent. I am planning on picking out a tracklist of songs from both albums to combine into a new album that feels cohesive and flows well.

If anyone has any thoughts or input on it, I would be happy to accept them!

  • Well for me there are almost no songs I'd cut between them so

I’m totally with you there, both albums have no skips. I like the idea of a more focused project but I don’t know if I can remove any. I don’t know if I’m cutting tracks per say, or just trying to find a good way to arrange them

One day I'll finally understand what y'all hear in The Next Day. Heat and Where Are We Now are masterpieces, Stars is solid but the rest... I skip entirely.

I'd cut some few songs from The Next Day: Boss of Me and Set the World on Fire, at least.

But then replace them with songs from the EP.

  • Myself being a huge fan of both albums, that would be a looooong album. Lol The Next Day is already pretty long, especially if you throw in The Next Day Extra.

  • The low day and diamond star aah images

  • I'd be curious to see your tracklist! Definitely "New Killer Star" and "Bring Me the Disco King" belong on it. "Boss of Me," "Where are We Now?" and "The Next Day" for sure. I'd probably get rid of "The Stars are Out Tonight" and "She'll Drive the Big Car."

Yeah, I'd be curious too, I'm a sucker for this kind of project.

I like that list but if keep the stars are out to night and add in fall dog bombs the moon.

  • They are both perfect as is!

I don’t disagree! I’m doing this as sort of a fun project to make a new version, definitely not because it needs altering whatsoever

  • I feel like you could do this more to Heathen and Reality than Reality and TND

  • I see little connection between Reality and The Next Day.

I think of Reality as the second half of Heathen just as The Next Day Extra is the second half of The Next Day, because they are awfully close stylistically.
