I personally don't ship child and adult. Proshipping is a stance. Basically means you're anti harassment. You can not like a ship and be a proshipper.
It can be a coping mechanism for some, and it also can be an enjoyable form of fiction/pastime! There're many ways to enjoy fiction, aren't there?
