I’ll get this out of the way up front: I killed him for his dragon chime many levels ago. I do appreciate the irony that I now need him to get to the one boss I haven’t yet killed—Darklurker. I’ve looked around online and have tried a few things that haven’t worked: I paid his grave in Black Gulch 5500 souls and all his ghost told me was that his work is done or something. I visited where he was in Shaded Ruins and there was no grave there before or after using a Bonfire Ascetic. I don’t think I ever joined his club and certainly am not a member now. Any way to get to Darklurker aside from beginning journey 2? If that’s the case I’m just going accept my fate and move on to DS3 or Bloodbourne.

That’s what I thought but I haven’t played ds 2 in about a year at this point in probably another 6 months I’ll hop back on to continue farming the giant lord (goal is to max level in new game already beat the game zero deaths on the account plan on doing no bonfire after maxing)

Those souls for the shrine of winter need to be obtained in the current NG cycle or just cumulatively across all NG cycles? I’m standing here at the shrine door with a soul memory of 5million and the thing ain’t opening :(
Needs souls for current play thru I forget if it bumps by 1 million each time best way to farm souls in early ng+ is drop down to the black gultch and kill the rotten a few times (use bonfire aesthetic after killing him for him to come back)

I’ll come back to him some day. Now, I’m on to Bloodborne. Playing through the FS souls/like catalog from start to finish one after another all for the first time, except Elden Ring which I played years ago
Make sure you do the hidden bonfire in the gulch
Sounds like he dead. Bloodborne has been great to me though so look forward to it before dark souls 3
You wanting to fight him for the fight or for the achievement, because you pretty much have to go to NG++ to get all the achievements. You can get to him fairly fast in NG+, bonfire ascetic and kill The Rotten a few times to unlock the Shrine of Winter early with +2 million Soul Memory while in NG+. Then all 3 of his locations aren't behind bosses.
Just for the fight, I want to beat all the bosses in the game and he’s last on my hitlist. I don’t normally kill NPCs, but damn did I want that chime.
You can’t progress his quest if he’s dead. You’re SOL, unfortunately
I did exactly what you did in Black Gulch. Gotta start over in your next game cycle and talk to Grandahl in all 3 locations and do all 3 Dark Chasms.
If you talk to him in all 3 locations, you can kill him and still continue his subquest when his gravestone shows up. Since you killed him at his first location, he won't appear at the other two and you're locked out of the dark chasm.

Did you talk to him in all enemies' dungeons already? If not, you messed up. He's now tied to the gravestones, so he wo t show up in the other dungeons anymore.
