I got a flyer in the mail but never heard of it. I have Spectrum currently and I've been looking to change but there aren't many other options besides AT&T.

  • Not an answer but spectrum stopped by the other day saying they had coaxial powered fiber available now.

Said it was 1 gig up and down and had a plan for 2 up 1 down.

Maybe they got in your area now?

Stopped by? Coaxial powered fiber???? So, not fiber...

hhahh fiber but not fiber. Its fiber back haul but as soon as they split to coax its no longer fiber. I see those commercials for Spectrum backed by fiber and laugh. Its still cable.
I am in an area with future buildout for Sonic Fiber in Dallas. Signed up and patiently waiting so i can kick Spectrum to the curb. If you have ATT fiber in your area they tend to be good and reliable, same with Frontier Fiber.

  • Purely curious, what are your reservations about using AT&T? Say what you will about their cellular, I'm staying with Verizon because in my area AT&T's coverage is pretty atrocious (2 bars on a good day), but I switched to their fiber from Spectrum as soon as they trenched it to my neighborhood, and never once have I had a drop in service/unplanned interruption. Spectrum, on the other hand, their "routine monthly maintenance" became biweekly, then weekly, then I'd get unplanned outages randomly, sometimes several times, in a single day. That makes working from home quite difficult. They're priced better than Spectrum as well.

  • Probably another start up looking to get bought out by a bigger company eventually.
