Adderall is apparently in short supply these days, and I am having trouble finding a pharmacy that has it in stock. I take 20mg instant release.

Anybody know of any pharmacies in the metroplex that have it in stock? I'm in the Mesquite/Garland area, but I will travel if I need to.

    I didn’t, either, until the first time the pharmacy filled it.

    I use GoodRx or some other discount instead of insurance, so that might be part of why.

    You usually have to call ahead to get it filled even if your prescriber already sent it to them. Their process isn’t perfect but I’ve always been able to get Vyvanse there.

  • Also, this time of year it’s always hard to find pharmacies with it in stock. There are federal limits to how much each pharmaceutical company can manufacture per year, so if they hit that limit, we’re SOL.

    (At least there have been limits in place in the past, I haven’t kept up with changes this year.)

  • It's incredibly annoying how long this has gone on. Like 2-3 years. Someone could've built a factory or something in that time you'd think. I'm addition, 75% of time it's a non issue and is in stock, or fills within a day or 2 - and then sometimes a particular pharmacy doesn't get any for multiple days/week+, and it doesn't seem to affect others and you have to play the calling around game. It's a weird "shortage".

  • I’ve only had a problem once with generic IR, 10 mg around Love Field. It was easy to transfer to a nearby CVS who had it on stock as there are plenty of other CVS locations to choose from!

  • I’ve used multiple Tom Thumbs and haven’t had a problem filling 30 days. I prefer 30 over 90 because I feel like effectiveness lessen by 45 days.

  • Try CVS and Krogers, whenever my Costco is out of stock; I’ve had luck with one of these two. Best of luck, it’s a pain in the A$$.

  • The IR tends to be the one that’s out or harder to find. I’ve had good luck with the Tom Thumb Pharmacies in Addison though (Marsh or Frankford) for the XR recently and sometimes the IR. Also the generic XR that Tom Thumb gets is way better than the Elite Labs generic XR that CVS always seems to get.

    The closer to the center of Dallas the less chance you'll find supply, every white collar worker in the city is on Adderall

  • A more long term solution: speak to your psychiatrist about switching to generic vyvance. I have only experienced 1 interruption of supply in the past 6 years (which I was able to easily find another pharmacy for it)
