Man, Dallas folks are in full consumerism mode!
I tried to go by NorthPark mall this afternoon, and just saw lines of cars even trying to get into the parking lots!! Cars were parked on grass by the parking garage!!! I saw some folks walking across NW Highway south to that shopping center, but I imagine there’s a risk of getting towed if you’re caught parking there & walking away to the mall.
What’s the secret to getting to NorthPark if parking is a total mess?!? 🤣😂🤷♂️
Take an Uber from nearby?
Hope this helps.
Don't take an Uber because it will be expensive and also take a while for the driver to get through the parking lot traffic to drop you off and pick you up. I think the city buses run nearby. Also, the Galleria mall is just as bad as the North Park Mall in terms of holiday shopping.
Take the train and walk. But honestly I'd rather drive and just be patient if I absolutely had to go. I'd rather pay for expedited shipping than go anywhere near a mall this week
Meanwhile Willowbend Mall is just waiting for its holiday rush to start aaaaaaany moment now
What train?
DART. park lane station.
I think the nearest DART station is Park Lane & it is at least a 15 min walk, including cross 75 & Park on sidewalks/crosswalks! 🤣
DART also runs a shuttle that goes straight from Park Lane Station that drops you off right in front of the North Park Mall entrance, it runs every ~15-20 minutes
If it’s the one I’m thinking of it used to be jointly funded by the mall & DART. The mall pulled funding so the shuttle stopped running recently.
But of course they did -_-
The shuttle is no more, but they’ve routed the 20 bus to run along Park Ln and Boedeker which gets you pretty close.
15 minutes is about right. Here's the route I like for biking or skating. It'd also work well for walking, and you could shorten it a bit by staying on the sidewalk in a couple places. All the road crossings are at lights, 75 is noisy but not as bad as you'd think, and the route is really shaded which is nice in the summer. (You walk through those two parking garages, not on the top deck.) It also avoids walking next to Park Lane, which is unpleasant on account of all the cars.

Funny how I would be so quick to say hell no to that in Dallas, even with our fine crosswalk and sidewalk infrastructure in these areas, but then will travel to New York, London, Tokyo, etc. and spend literally the whole day walking places. When I'm there I always think, man this wasn't so bad, I could do way more walking in Dallas. Get back to Dallas...fuck that, I'm driving across the street to Tum Thumb.
Yeah, I can't deal with walking here either. I was thinking about it when I was in Germany a few weeks ago. I think a part of it is how aggressive the drivers are about making turns, and how little people actually walk makes it feel weird to be the only pedestrian. I was crossing the street at the Baylor in FW a week ago and a bus decided not to turn right until I was halfway across the crosswalk and I had to stop and wait for it to finish crossing. Lots of people run the red light there too.
Yeah the red light runners here make it impossibly dangerous.
Thats not terrible, considering how much of a car centric place Dallas is
Thankfully we have great walking weather this week!
Seems reasonable to me. That's nothing compared to walking inside the mall
Isn’t a 15 minute walk better than dealing with the traffic? Are you actually asking for sumptuous or just complaining?
No kidding!!! Walking is SOOOO pedestrian. Lame.
Only in Dallas is a 15 minute walk considered an arduous trek.
Main concern is having to cross a busy road, across a highway overpass intersection! Plus, Texas drivers are ruthless towards pedestrians! Otherwise, a 15 min walk is no big deal!! 🤣🤷♂️
I've walked in Dallas,Plano, Wichita Falls and Albuquerque. I've never had an issue at an intersection.
It's been a while but I think the red line goes to the Park Lane station. You could also just park at the Park Lane station and walk.
Is there a pedestrian crossing from the station to the mall over the highway?
There are crosswalks.
Thanks! I wanted to try taking the train but was a bit scared of walking over to NorthPark
Don’t go during the holidays. Online shop. Don’t go during the holidays, especially when Mary is starting to crown.
Never heard that phrase. Don’t be surprised if I steal it!
I work there. 9-10am there are lots of parking. Most stores open at 10, so you'll beat the crowd. After that - good luck!
Park on the very top floor of parking garage - the one west of Nordstrom. Busy but easy walk right into the mall.
yep i do this every time. dont even look for parking on lower floors just gun for the top of the nordstrom garage
Delete this pls
Lol right wtf man?
Why because you don't want other people to do it?
Also, if you want to endear yourself to everyone behind you, when exiting the garage, do not be the person holding everyone up to take a left turn.
Yes Nordstrom garage is the best and easiest one
So if you don’t wanna drive in because there’s traffic, is an Uber supposed to hover over all the cars? You’ll just be waiting in the traffic being charged more for sitting in traffic.
Ubers/Lyfts can at least drop off in spots (like along NW Highway by South parking lot entrance. There’s definitely drop off spots that avoid the actual car lines entering for parking.
So go do that then lol
Seriously lol. Not sure what OP is hoping for. Doesnt want to walk 15 minutes. Guess they thought the weekend before Christmas they’d be able to just pull right in and park in the front row of one of the few active malls left.
Kinda funny how the tone of the OP makes them seem disdainful of all the other people last minute shopping when they are presumably just another shopper.
There’s also valet parking at the mall
We did valet yesterday at the Galleria. Best $8 I’ve spent in a while, but by the time we were leaving it was full and they were turning people away.
Sky dive in
With or without a parachute?
Then sky dive out
The secret is not waiting to go the weekend before Christmas.
Truely don't go anywhere near malls during the holidays
There is no secret if it’s busy……. You either drive and wait, or take the train and walk a long way…..
Since college, I’ve always had a 9:45am Tuesdays motto during Christmas. Never, ever try to go in the afternoon.
Park at the parking garage just east of northpark mall. It’s a free public MASSIVE parking garage that is a short walk away.
It’s the one on the other side of 75, you should see logos like Whole Foods, Nordstrom Rack, American Girl Doll, Carters, etc. the walk is very doable and there is an entrance into the mall immediately at the end of the path.
Peak Dallas.
Take the train
I went at 10:30am and immediately found a spot in the garage. Evening time the top floor is the only parking that you can find without circling around for a while or getting lucky.
I went today and got there right at opening. No line, no wait, plenty of spots. That is the key
This is my situation with the Galleria. Every time i drive past there I say “hell nah”
Drive by aborted shopping spree! 🤣😂🤷♂️
As long as you don't go the weekend before Christmas or Black Friday then there's plenty of parking
If you absolutely have to go, park in the basement/level zero. You can access it off the service road of 75. Parking is still mad, but you’ll find something in 5-10 minutes.
This “status update” on my Facebook memories from like 10-15 years ago pops up every December >> “a smarter me would have Ubered to NorthPark today.”
Still true in 2025 when you’re talking about the last 10 days before Christmas!
Train to Park Lane Station. The shuttle (402) no longer runs, but the 20 (Bachman Station) will save some walking. It drops you off across the street.
Grab this https://transitapp.com/ and buy a pass with the DART GoPass app. It’s not the quickest, but it’s reliable. A 10 minute walk is good for you.
Very early on a Sunday if you have to do the weekend.
Consumerism mode…aka Christmas.
DART
lol be there before they open
Go on a weekday, just park in front of Dillards
We are playing Pokemon Go. It's a walking app for children but I'm 40+ lbs overweight so it's beneficial to me. The only places I can afford to shop are the clearance sections of Dillard's and Macy's.
I got off at the Northpark exit on 75 and patiently waited to get into the garage. I went to see Avatar and hit Lululemon for my father in law. It was hell🤣
I was there around 2 yesterday. I took a left into the mall from the light on northwest highway (across from Lincoln center) and got into the Nordstrom parking garage super easy. It was getting out that took a while....maybe 15 minutes. The longest part was getting from the 3rd floor of the garage down into the second. I would take the exit out on the other side of the boedecker exit to park lane.
Go right when it opens in the Nordstrom garage. I’ve never had an issue.
the 20 route dart bus drops you off nearby also as someone mentioned parklane station. Arriving minimum 30 min before opening is best option. I never have issues entering mall before it "officially" opens either.
Either uber or deal. It's always super crowded around Christmas. You are just one of that crowd lol.
Wait till next week
I live probably less than 3 miles from NP Mall and take a Lyft during this season.
My husband and I live nearby and go there often because of Mendocino Farms, AMC, etc so I'm there pretty much in every month of the year. I promise you that the reason parking is so crowded and bad right now is just because it's December. Wait till after Christmas and you'll have more than plenty of spaces to choose from!
I worked across the street for 10 years.
There is no trick really. Make the loop until you find something.
Wear comfortable shoes.
Lunch at Enchiladas and an Uber perhaps?
The trains and it’s just beautiful to go during the holiday season. Lol
Park at the Whole Foods across the street and walk over.
Ut walk there bro like who needs parking when shopping is life, amirites
Ummm, it’s the single biggest shopping day of the year, what do you expect?
When it’s that busy I just use valet. It’s worth not having to drive around in circles competing for parking spots like it’s the hunger games.
Theres a dart station across the street too
Uber….I did it and it was glorious!!
At that shopping center cross the street there's a Whole Foods. I would park in that parking lot and walk over from there. Very limited chance of getting towed in my opinion.
Take the dart. The walk isn’t too bad.
What several of my friends have done is gotten there before the mall opened so they were able to park, and then they just waited til stores were opened.
Park in the Whole Foods garage and walk across the bridge over 75
It’a a bold strategy, Cotton. Shopping centers have tow trucks and spotters working fulltime right now.
It’s the famous terrible economy that everyone is complaining about.
The ultra wealthy are partying but rest of America, not so great! NorthPark is notorious for attracting the glitz Park Cities folks, who could care less about high inflation!!🤣
You think the “glitz park cities” crowd’s personal assistants didn’t have their shopping done, wrapped and under the tree well before now? That’s cute.
Most people at Northpark are not glitz or rich. In fact most millionaires would not touch ridiculous spending like that. Most millionaires are the next door type (book - Millionaire next door). If ultra rich glitz goes - they do touch it they go on a random Fall Thursday morning to avoid the mess.
They still need to flex their status by going out in their lux vehicles and being seen at top shopping spots! 🤣🤷♂️
Nah. Those are the type whose lux vehicles will probably be repossessed soon. Really wealthy people don’t care what you think.
