So I’m a little bit of an introvert, ever since Covid that people started giving fist bump my anxiety of greeting strangers has lowered so much. I’m able to just give out fist bumps to complete strangers and don’t feel any pressure like if I put out my hand out for a handshake. Of course I still shake hands when it’s proper greeting but for the most part I just fist bump everyone.
some of my most cringe-worthy embarrassing incidents have been me fucking up hand shakes so yea, the covid-sparked ubiquity of the fistbump is a godsend.
Just start dead-fish handshaking everyone and they'll stop offering.
I like it for kids too. I’m a peds NP and mom and it’s a really nice way to teach bodily autonomy. I hated being forced to give hugs as a kid to adults I did not want to hug, but it’s also incredibly important to teach kids politeness. “Do you want to give Grandpa a hug or a fist-bump” gives them a choice with their bodies while teaching politeness.
And germophones (me).
I don’t touch people when greeting them unless I’m a formal professional setting that requires a handshake. An attempted fist bump would get a stare from me lol.
I like it. Hugs are awkward. Especially in the workplace.
Can relate, I love fist bumps because regardless of how well you know a person it’s an acceptable form of greeting/closing. Hug can be awkward and it depends on how close you are with someone, so I always hug someone if they initiate but I rarely initiate hugs myself lol
Disgusted extrovert here. It's not that I have a problem with germs, it's that I have been in a public restroom and watched people not wash up/flush/etc. That's my sampling of the human population- from posh restaurants to workplace loo- So fist bumps, or even better- elbow bumps- delight me. Please don't make me shake anyone's hand ever again.
Sure unless you go in with a handshake when someone tries. Then its just embarrassing..

Totally! Way less easy to fuck up a fistbump. With handshakes I worry too much about getting the right level of firmness, lol.
I don't shake hands if I don't have to. The law of averages says that almost every hand you'll shake has had a dick in it.
