Lol I just did this last week accidentally. Was playing with the stopwatch function on my fire tablet and closed it up. A week later I open it up and the timer was still going 6 days later, around 156 hours.
Programmer here. Stopwatches don't constantly run in the background. When you press start, it saves the current time. From there, it just calculates the difference between the start time and now when you look at the stopwatch, which hardly uses any resources.
Could you tell me about background app refresh then? I thought the whole point of keeping it on was so that apps would run in the background. Genuinely curious
Some apps actually do things in the background. Using it for the stopwatch wouldn't make sense, because it would be inefficient and inaccurate (over time) - calculating the difference between two timestamps is easy and efficient.
I know it sounds weird I just meant that I accidentally left a stopwatch running on my phone and didn’t realise till months later so I just kept it going for shits and giggles

I do it every time I get a new phone.
4174 days 23 hours 23 minutes 03 seconds and counting
Dang that is a good idea!
haha i used to do that when i was younger. also it doesn’t impact battery life in the slightest
No, only the kid helping the teacher at track is permitted to play that game...

No, my children do though.
It only calculates the elapsed time if you open it. The stopwatch simply has the start time stored, that’s it.
You could probably hack the number even if you really wanted to.
I know but I use iOS
I meant IOS. You can change these values in a backup file and put that back.
Why would I want to do that
Sorry but I don't really know what the point of your comment was, because someone else already mentioned this.
No.
How shite is your battery performance? Or even just your phone in general? lmao
It’s fine, I meant on the clock app, where it shows the stopwatch. It’s very glitchy but it doesn’t affect my battery.

The more you know ✨
You need serious help.

I was being sarcastic. We all do some silly or mildly OCD shit. You aren't close to the deep spectrum of weird.
Oh no, I don't like wasting battery

Your phone has been on for over a year??
