There are a number of Cardsmiths Currency subreddits. What makes r/CurrencyCards special? This sub is run by and for collectors of Cardsmiths Currency cards. We are not affiliated with the company, and we are fanatical about cultivating our main page to showcase the best of Currency cards and the community that has grown up around them. Our moderators are active on the site, and we enforce our community’s rules.
In addition to foregrounding how unique and wonderful Currency cards are in the non-sports non-TCG trading card category, our subreddit connects collectors with broader interests besides. Every morning, our Automod spawns a new DAILY megathread, pinned to the top of the main page, which provides a space to chat and advertise other things including card shows, sales, deals, steals, and even pictures of our cats (we hope!).
Tips
Help us to create an awesome card collecting community!
- Create high quality posts about collecting, trading, and buying/selling Currency cards.
- Be generous with upvotes! The more people know that their contributions are welcome and appreciated, the better they’ll feel about making those contributions, and the more motivated people will be to make great posts. Upvote any post and comment that you feel makes a positive contribution; don’t be shy!
- Familiarize yourself with the rules. The subreddit rules are listed in the Community Info section of the sub. Rule #1 is Be Respectful. We also have rules about self-promotion, relevance, raffles, etc.
- Report rule violations! The mods try to read everything on the subreddit, but some things might slip past us. If you see anything that you think is a violation of our rules, report it to the mod team. If we judge that the contribution does violate the rules, we’ll remove it; if we judge that it doesn’t, no harm no foul.
And, here is aguide to the rest of the subreddit:
Collectors focus: the Main Page
Show off your Currency collection, seek trades or (Reddit-based) sales, do a card battle, ask a question, run a giveaway, …
- Tip: Post great pictures! See basic photo editing on iPhone, basic photo editing on Android
Posts that primarily direct members to 3rd party sites for personal monetization (Rule 4), that are primarily oriented around things other than Currency Cards (by community consensus, this excludes Space; Rule 3), low quality/low effort (Rule 2), or which are found to be in violation of any other community rules, will be removed at mod discretion.
Other Cardsmiths products can be highlighted on our sister subreddit, r/CardsmithsCards.
Connecting collectors: the DAILY
The subreddit rules on self-promotion and relevance are relaxed in the DAILY. All collector, trader, and seller chatter is welcome. You might be surprised what your fellow members are interested in!
- Promote (and follow up on) on your Whatnot, YouTube, TikTok, X, … shows, or those of your friends
- Advertise your Ebay or Spotify shop, or other sellers or products you think others might be interested
- Make a quick sales pitch with crappy photos
- Talk about things that interest you other than Currency cards—other Cardsmiths products, vintage cards you’ve discovered, House of Roulx shows—whatever you want to share, whatever you think others in the community might be interested in.
We want to see you at r/CurrencyCards every day!
Resources for collectors
The subreddit has a ton of resources for collectors, whether you’ve been here awhile or are just starting out.
Trade flair
User flairs are used to implement a mechanism of community trust. Any trades or purchases that have been coordinated or completed through the subreddit can be confirmed, and your account’s number of confirmed trade flairs updated.
- View the trade confirmation megathread (also pinned to the main page)
- How it works: One side or the other makes a comment on that megathread indicating what was traded for what and calls the other member by their handle (e.g., u/sylvan-yo). The other member replies confirming the trade. Then, one of our mods will further confirm, and increment each of your trade counts by one.
- Porting flair: In many cases, our mods will be happy to port your confirmed trade flairs from other Currency community subreddits. Porting flair is at the mod’s discretion.
Collector flair
There are many collecting accomplishments that our mod team is happy to record in your trade flair…
- Have you collected a complete master set (that is: all the cards on the official checklist) for any Currency set? Ping a mod to get the appropriate book flair 📕📗📘📙
- Have you collected a complete rainbow of some card (that is: all of the available gemstone varieties for a particular card)? Ping a mod to get the rainbow flair 🌈
- Have you collected a gemstone set of any Currency series (that is, every numbered card in one of the gemstone varieties)? Ping a mod to get the appropriate gemstone set, for example beryl 🔸, silver 🪙, jade 🐲, etc.
- What have we missed?
Checklists
We try to keep official and fillable checklist information up to date in our “Community Guide”/”Community Bookmarks".
- Official Checklists are the company-provided lists that indicate what counts for the full set, artist info, etc. You can find these under “Official Checklists”. All official checklists through Series 4 are also contained in this post [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/CurrencyCards/comments/1jij22v/cardsmiths_currency_trading_cards_official/); anything missing can usually be found on the Cardsmiths website under the appropriate product name, by scrolling through the pictures.
- Collectors’ Checklists are images generated from spreadsheets that have blanks for you to fill in the cards you have/need that can be used for trade posts. Ping a mod if you’d like access to a copy of the spreadsheets used to generate these images so you can create your own version.
Packaging & Shipping
Generally speaking, unless you’re shipping a common base card, Currency community members ship their cards with the following protections: penny sleeve + top-loader + team bag + ding defenders + inner bag/bubble wrap + bubble mailer.
A typical package like this will weigh under 3 ounces and ship with USPS Ground Advantage ($100 insured + tracking included) for less than $5, if your shipping label is purchased through [Click’n’Ship](https://www.usps.com/ship/online-shipping.htm).
- For much more information about packaging and shipping, see the complete Currency newbie guide
Middleman/proxy service
Generally speaking, new traders (those with <10 trade confirmation) should expect to be asked to ship their cards first before their more experienced traders ship their cards / pay for the cards. Those collectors, or even experienced ones, might reasonably worried about shipping cards/cash if the cards are of particularly high value.
The mod team at r/CurrencyCards provides a detailed plan of action for one of our mods to act as a middleman or proxy for such trades.

Thank you for this post! I’ll be sure to utilize Click and Ship from now on the save some $.
Regarding the master set flair, I am still chasing 4 holo MRs for S1 but I do have a full CS MR set along with the CFs, all base cards and holo variants. Would this qualify for the S1 master set flair?
I also have both summer (2024 and 2025) and holiday (2023 and 2024) sets completed. Is there any flair for those sets?
Thanks to all of the mods and content creators in this awesome group! Keep up the good work!
thank you! 😊 and, good questions! i'm going to ping mod u/SanctifiedSinner regarding collector flair. i don't think we've done flairs for the summer and holiday sets!
Awesome, thanks!

The MR HFs are part of the master set. This shows you what was originally included with S1 and most will consider this a master set since it was all that was available at the time. But then they announced all those missing ones would be distributed with S2. Getting the full MR set will get you the Master set 2.0 basically lol. They are tough set to complete!
Thank you for the info! Bought the MR1 today. Only missing HF MR3, MR6, MR6A now.
No problem and congrats! S1 MRs are awesome. They were tough to find, it was like a side quest to the main set.
that's a good point -- people usually argue over whether the master set can be considered complete with "all CS" or "all HF" -- saying that it has "all the cards released from the checklist in the print" is a totally viable option as well.
So much great info here if you are just joining this community
This is absolutely incredible. Thank you for taking the time and writing this up for the Sub! You're amazing thank you
Very helpful as usual great job u/Sylvan-yo !
Message me to join the r/currencycards group chat once Reddit shuts down the official subreddit chats!
I want to include that when you trade or sell a card, there are some strongly encouraged guidelines to the process. The penny sleeve and top loader, these are well known. Team bags are favored. Please, for the love of god, do not tape the toploader closed! I mean, why? I do get the OCD, I do. I get wanting your product to smell of extra special care when received. But some redundancies are truly unnecessary. These would include taping team bags shut after you’ve already sealed them. They would inlude taping ding defenders to team bags and each other in the same go-round. Also included? A taped bundle of ding defenders protecting a card or cards THAT YOU’RE USING A BOX TO SEND THEM IN. Finally, too much shipping tape around the outside, around the outside, around the outside (feel me?). Also be aware of the “courtesy tab,” that friendly help to opening your sent jewels which is just a quarter inch or so of the tape holding those pieces of plastic card together, folded back on itself. No broken nails! No swearing! No cursing at the duct tape idiot! Please do not use duct tape. Please do. Not. use duct tape.
Oh, and? Spend responsibly.
NEVER DUCT TAPE!!!
omg this is such a great comment. i suggest you make it, again, in response to the "complete newb guide" lmao: https://www.reddit.com/r/CurrencyCards/comments/1l5maiv/new_to_currency/
omg i had a box the other day with so many layers of bubble mailer and tape and team bags etc i started to fear that the shipper might suffer from some form of crippling anxiety... don't need THAT much guys. they're sensitive but nothing is THAT sensitive...
Lots of good information up there!!
Thank you for all the info. Super helpful!!!
Nice work 💯 appreciated
Entering enter entrance.

It has been forever, I am very chaotic with posting and keeping up with things.
Thank you for this post sylvan! Love you!
awwwwwww 🤗
Amazing!! Thank you!!
Glad I found this sub and this post. Will definitely be sharing with newer folks like myself as much as possible.
yayyy! welcome newb 😊 can't wait to see what you and your pals get up to! 🥳
My first couple weeks here, not once did I feel lost. Lots of help here and from individuals within the community!
A lot of info on these cards out there and if you don’t know just ask there’s always someone around to help out!
Boy, now it is undeniable. u/sylvan-yo truly is .. what. Den Mother? Queen? Scarlet Woman piping her currency seduction directly into our engagement center?
Honestly I will take all three.
Thank you.
Great write up! Happy trading and don’t forget to shop GameStop
Happy Thanksgiving! $GME $GME $GME
I'm new, only 5 trades. Thank you for the info!
Great write up!!!
The middleman/proxy service is a great way to exchange high value cards for currency if there is any hesitation at all. Always nice having that option.
This is great 😊
Im glad I checked this
my dear, new friend—so sorry your post got kicked from the main page, but we don't allow posts solely about Space... re-post this on r/CardsmithsCards or on r/SpaceTradingCards and once you've confirmed a trade, we have a mechanism for porting it over here.
if i recall correctly what i saw in the picture, you have at least a rare base card in that pile (18 Dark Matter). i would suggest, to facilitate uptake, you say a little about what you might like for the lot. A couple of Space crystal sparkles? Or matrix holofoils? Or a blue topaz gem? you might be able to get one of those things for the lot you have including 18 base.
good luck!
Does a trade on the spacetrading cards sub count towards the giveaway?
my friend. there's a lot of reading but that's part of the giveaway. your questions are answered in the suggested reading. now you can go to the trade confirmation thread pinned to the main page and read what it says there about porting flair.
once again the short answer is "yes", subject to mod discretion.
no more on demand answers from this mod!
Ok sorry. Thanks.
Im dyslexic and its hard for me to grasp lots of details
I did my reddit reading! Pls send me my training certificate =P ! Seriously though thanks for throwing all that together. Its great info with an incentive to boot!
thank you caveman!!
Also newbie here. Thanks for all these resources sylvan and team :)
yayy welcome! and, thanks for the meme :) yoh probably saw this at the end but this was the earlier "complete newbie guide" -- https://www.reddit.com/r/CurrencyCards/s/QkhT1KV2OU -- i'm going to put together a guide to the actual cards soon 😊
Appreciate all the info and enjoy the streams. thanks
Thank you Sylvan for all you do.
I wanted to add a psa of - please collect responsibility. These cards are amazing. That said, several times I have read where folks have put themselves in a precarious financial position with the quest for cards. The chase is fun but dont get lost in the hunt. I will now let adults be adults
This is a great community. Ask questions. No question is stupid but be warned many answers might be. You stupids know who you are and so do the rest of us!!! Honestly this is a fun place and if you treat folks well it is returned in kind.
One piece of advice I have is Ask before you Act. That simple rule will save you lots of pain.
Now get out there and have fun. 😁.
Obviously my English Sucks....sigh
Just going to echo chamber a bit, saying this as as self described newb.
Ask questions when you have them, there are a ton of good and decent people who enjoy this hobby ( obsession maybe ) and will absolutely try to help if you need it. I can't remember a horrible experience with anyone on the sub. We are all here to scratch some kind of itch, and whatever that is...there is someone who gets that. Play nice, be fair, be honest. I've been super reserved on actively participating, but I've come to see that this is NOT an adversarial thing, It IS a community. Get in here. Free hugs, free cookies if you're nice.
Thank you for the info!
Now THIS is an info post!
