✨ Welcome to /r/cryptotax, the most active crytpo tax subreddit!

📜 Before posting, please read the Crypto tax FAQ and search for keywords there. Also, search this subreddit for your question. Here's an example search for "specific identification" - change the keywords on that form. If you ask an FAQ that's been fully answered, your post will be deleted.

❓ If you still haven't found an answer, feel free to post a new question with a clear, descriptive, specific title, such as "[US] Claiming losses on Forex trading but account was funded with BTC". Do NOT post vague/generic titles like "Tax question", "Help", or "What to do?". These may be removed.

🌍 If your question is not about US crypto taxes, state your country in the post title.

🚨 Respect the rules, especially - use specific titles and no spamming (duh).

  • Just want to say thanks for creating this sub. Hoping to gain insight and contribute where I can.

  • How should I go about getting a CSV for robin hood? I spent three hours following the template koinly provided and it was not compatible.

  • Any chance you could reupload/reapprove the post? "This post has been removed by the Reddit filters"

  • So, I’ve been doing online gambling with crypto and I think I’ve got myself in a mess. I was gambling on stake.us and I would win money an transfer to my Coinbase wallet and transfer back to the online casino and gamble and lose and win, but when I would win I would transfer back out to my Coinbase wallet an repeat the cycle. How screwed am I?

Not really screwed but it will be alot of manual work to figure out what's taxable gain and what's transfer. Obviously, the taxable event takes place on the gambling platform. Transfer to Coinbase in and of itself is not taxable. When you sell your crypto on Coinbase - that becomes a taxable event. So in those instances, you'll have to track your basis to the gambling platform.

  • Hi having hell's own with cryptotaxcalculator, I for the life of me cannot understand resolve missing purchase history etc. yes U have read the texts and watched the vids, obviously I am old and stupid. It appears the support for this app is non existent. Really frustrated I don't know what to do,vi am guessing I am 95% done as well.

  • I'm thinking of liquidating some long-held (like 12 years hodl) crypto for retirement. (I've thought long and hard about loan acquisition vs liquidating, timing seems best for liquidating.) Before I dive into actually doing it, what program can I use to check out different scenarios? And should I get pro advice on the possibility of tax loss harvesting? Would be doing this soon, for 2025. Thanks!

  • Is Turbo Tax the only software I can use to import Form 8949 in .txf format? I'm currently using Koinly to calculate my crypto, and I see all the export options, but when I get to the crypto portion on HR Block, I do not see any button or tab to input any of the documents that I can export via Koinly. Instead it is asking me to do each transaction one by one, which can't be right. Right?

Ok, thanks for the reply and link. Interface looks different now but I’ll just keep playing around with it in the morning and hopefully figure it out.

Oh i see, difference between desktop and online versions. So I’ll just download the software. Thanks again.
