Why is Tilak Varma playing with a strike rate of under 100 in the last match, in T20Is.
They needed 57 off 87 when he came to the crease, zero need to go hard just knock it around and win the game
Does anyone (u/RMTBolton) have any ideas as to why Caitlin Gurrey is being snubbed from the White Ferns? Doesn't even get a look-in in the North vs South games. She's been consitently one of the best bats in the country for the last few years and is currently second top scorer in the women's one day comp here
Her last 9 innings for reference:
112, 152, 49, 17, 24, 71, 54, 45, 99 - average of 69.2
I've been trying to figure it out for years. It's like she's blacklisted or something.
The only thing that would make sense to me is if she's turning down the offer so she can stay local and focus on family or something?
I had someone (a reputable source) say the other day she's chosen career over intl cricket. I.e outside work inside of committing to the WFs. And fair enough, if you can't guarantee game time with the way that national set up has brought players in and out of it over the years... (Gurrey herself, Robertson, Anderson, Armstrong, Patel, etc).
That's about the only path that doesn't go down some very dark & conspiratorial pathway (as far as cricket goes).
what is your guys opinion about Michael Levitt?
He is a pretty exciting talent from the Netherlands cricket team imo.
Will always have a special place in my heart after scoring 175* for me in the final of a fantasy draft league we ran
bro is the goat
Andy Flower rates Max Holden
That's all that should be needed Blobby
Another reason why Andy Flower should take over as head coach again.
Looking at the forecast for the Adelaide test, bowl first and hope to bundle the opposition out in the first day then bat in the scorching conditions?
Have you seen our bowling attack?
When you win the toss, bat. If you are in doubt, think about it, then bat. If you have very big doubts, consult a colleague – then bat.
Ehh disagree. A lot of our success has been from chasing in the 4th
Yeah England are better off bowling. Even if they concede 350, they have a decent chance of chasing it down. No one does 300+ chases better than them
that was for 1800s, now, u should always bowl first
Absolutely no reason why this came to me today, but does anyone remember Jason Krejza, the Australian off-spinner? He was a good a natural wicket taker I’ve seen for a spinner, but he was super expensive. Feels like a bit of a fever dream how short his international career was
first match he took 12/300 vs Ind, next game SA chased 400 in the 4th innings. he fell 2 runs short of the record for most runs conceded in debut+ last match in career and had an economy of 4.53
Didn't Bryce Mcgain played in that series vs RSA as well?
nope that was in SA a few months later, we won the first two tests with no proper spinner then lost the McGain game by an innings
Baz new comments about “backing our template” and basically (but not officially) saying the Top7 are unchanged makes me think Bashir will play in Adelaide
It’s receptive to spin firstly and secondly, the whole ethos of BazBall is backing players, backing your spinner to get into the game and specific to Bashir, backing him through an inconsistent 18 months
Don’t think you make those comments if the plan is to go away from that and not play Bashir personally
Not sure why people were expecting any top 7 changes when they've deliberately created an environment which can't change
Think Stokes backed himself into a corner with his weak comments. Then anyone dropped would be a dog whistle for the media to pile in on the supposed weak player in the dressing room
tbf the worst batter in the XI had a good last test.
Pope made no runs.
Pope had a stinker though.
Vaughan:
For all the stick that the English media gets, Australian media is so much worse. If English journalists pulled the shit that their Aussie counterparts did, the subreddit would be calling for a sporting boycott of England.
You won't have me defending the Aussie media any time soon, but in the 2023 Ashes the English media straight up fabricated a story about an Australian player committing theft, lol. The less said about Lords, too, the better I think.
I think there is a bigger point to be made about how it's easier to write dogshit, meanspirited articles when you've been convinced that the subject 'deserve it' (And many Australians do genuinely believe that this English team need to be 'brought down a peg'... for whatever that entails) but as I said, I feel no need to justify our dogshit media.
Our media had been notoriously bad with politics and celebrity but I don't think we'd treat any team like the Aussies have treated England.
It's obviously not a monolith and the media is a collection of many different people but yeah a lot of it hasn't been great.
The Western Australia stuff I don't mind because it's so absurd. It sounded like the players loved it. But the drones and ambushing players on the beach isn't okay.
The portrayal of Stokes as incredibly selfish and throwing his team under the bus has also been a bit weird when basically every England player including the guys not in the squad any more talks about his empathy and leadership qualities. But it's been pretty vicious. I think you can criticise how he's handled some press conferences but it seems a strange narrative to me and then gets repeated on here.
But they also think our media is Piers Morgan who is a twat and was a moron for saying 5-0 so maybe we just notice the twats and use it to represent the whole media but we know we have some decent people covering cricket and I'm sure Aussies will say they do too. We just don't see them
Idk the football team gets some really bad stuff, especially black players. Like look how much shit Rashford got from the English media.
My opinion on the Big 3.
Woest player: England.
Worst media: Australia.
Worst fan: India.
What's the latest on Asia cup? (Serious answers only)
Post Ashes humiliation (5-0), The ECB should seriously just sack Blob Key, Luke Wright and Baz and get Alec Stewart or Mo Bobat to take over as Director of Cricket and get Andy Flower, Gary Kirsten or Dizzy as head coach.
why would Andy flower come back?
Lol "Shabnam Pill" is such a terrible slander name that it's funny by being so bad.
Shabnam Pill should form a comedy duo with Rob Key and name it "Key and Pill"
Ali Raza reminds me so much of Kartik Tyagi. Has all the ingredients needed to become the perfect fast bowler.
Oh my precious Kartik Tyagi. I hope he gets picked up at the auction; he's finally fit, he's firing and he's getting games for his state.
I'm not really a good or even a decent batter.
And I have only started hitting boundaries very recently.
Having said that I recently hit a cover drive. Footwork of Shivam Dube but it went like a tracer bullet to the boundary. And that felt sublime.
And now I understand why Shaheen calls himself an allrounder. Hitting the very rare boundaries makes you FEEL like you're Kallis.
Hitting the cover drive is really special. You could six sixes in an over but can't match that feeling.
I still remember the day I hit a six over extra cover, been chasing that high ever since. Unfortunately my batting average is in the single digits so I’m probably not gonna be replicating that soon

when is the IPL auction and how can I watch it from bangladesh
It's on Tuesday 16th, 2 30 PM IST. Not sure where you can catch it in Bangladesh tho
thanks!
Smith was the man of the hour when he was pulling Archer and Atkinson for sixes for fun but fuck me, how good was Weatherald's on-drive?
So good
The timing was gorgeous.
Ashes 2025: The preparation plan Brendon McCullum, Ben Stokes and England rejected ahead of their tour to Australia
Ceebs making a post about it
Some key points
Now, before people are like MCG isn't similar conditions to Perth. Yeah, no, that's fair. However, MCG has a fair bit of carry, pace and movement not like 2017/18 for example where that was just a shit tip.
