The website Character.ai once had a chatbot based on Jennifer Ann Crecente, a person who had been murdered by her ex-boyfriend in 2006. There were also chatbots based on Brianna Ghey, a 16-year-old transgender girl murdered in 2023, and Molly Russell, a 14-year-old suicide victim.

It should be noted that these were created by the users of the site, and not something endorsed by the site itself.

My son was playing on this after he saw something on YouTube about it. Teen daughter was talking to him and causally looked, immediately grabbed it, bought it to me. The bot was incredibly flirting and sexual, all of which had flown over my sons head. We blocked it.

There’s a weirdo on Twitter who pretends to be that little boy who was killed in an MRI machine by a flying oxygen tank. Posts shit like “I don’t want to go in the MRI, Mommy!” People are fucking gross and scary.

It absolutely does belong here. 1. Someone created chatbots based upon murder victims. 2. People could have literally been called by their loved one who was murdered because of this chatbot.

They say AI is killing people’s imaginations, but I’m not sure everyone has one.
