Happy holidays, everyone.

I am hoping to find a nice barley wine for the holidays to share with friends who are in from out of town. I tried a few places near me (I live in the Ann Arbor area) over the past week and without any luck. Ideally, I would like to pick something up that is Michigan made (staying away from the Western Michigan breweries as my brother-in-law will have those handled), but it doesn't have to be, as long as it is something worth sharing. I don't mind doing a bit of driving to get the bottle, but would hate to travel far and come back empty handed. Any ideas or recommendations?

  • Kuhnhenn is releasing a few BA barleywines. In the (far) past they've been very good, and you can likely try them on tap before buying any bottles in case they suck.

I appreciate the assist! Between this suggestion and the other, I should be able to land something.

If dog and pony still have their barleywine, I'd get that over the Kuhnhenn.

  • Not from Michigan but Bottle Logic just came to Michigan and the release a PB & J Barleywine and a Butterscotch Vanilla in bottles.

Dog and Pony in Oak Park had a big Barleywine release on Black Friday, they might have bottles left.

I saw post from Zetounas in Rochester releasing older BCBS Barleywine bottles.

Awesome. I will do some investigating and see what I can find.

  • Not a barleywine but drinks like one. Massacre by Wolverine State.

  • Are there bottle shops in Michigan? I mean a place like binnys would have a few...
