Happy holidays, everyone.
I am hoping to find a nice barley wine for the holidays to share with friends who are in from out of town. I tried a few places near me (I live in the Ann Arbor area) over the past week and without any luck. Ideally, I would like to pick something up that is Michigan made (staying away from the Western Michigan breweries as my brother-in-law will have those handled), but it doesn't have to be, as long as it is something worth sharing. I don't mind doing a bit of driving to get the bottle, but would hate to travel far and come back empty handed. Any ideas or recommendations?
Kuhnhenn is releasing a few BA barleywines. In the (far) past they've been very good, and you can likely try them on tap before buying any bottles in case they suck.
I appreciate the assist! Between this suggestion and the other, I should be able to land something.
If dog and pony still have their barleywine, I'd get that over the Kuhnhenn.
Not from Michigan but Bottle Logic just came to Michigan and the release a PB & J Barleywine and a Butterscotch Vanilla in bottles.
Dog and Pony in Oak Park had a big Barleywine release on Black Friday, they might have bottles left.
I saw post from Zetounas in Rochester releasing older BCBS Barleywine bottles.
Awesome. I will do some investigating and see what I can find.
Not a barleywine but drinks like one. Massacre by Wolverine State.
Are there bottle shops in Michigan? I mean a place like binnys would have a few...
