Looking for other suggestions like Town to City that are extremely laid back. Just endless enjoyment but still have some goals/quests in mind. I like that it does require some thought to balance out workers and such but it is nowhere near stressful or complex as some of the other builders like cities and skylines that gets me too stressed.

-No day clocks or energy levels

-Do not enjoy Stardew Valley for this reason but love the art style

-Enjoy the decorating aspect of Town to city

-Enjoy the light management style

-Bonus if it’s another pixel game or 2d, no First person

Edit: Didn’t enjoy mechanics on Tiny glade. Also prefer no combat just a relaxing builder. Did enjoy Whisper of the house. Very cute gameplay and relaxing artwork/atmosphere

Come on Town to City lovers is there anything else as amazing as this?! Help me find more

  • I love Town to City and Ive been playing Lets build a zoo quite a lot lately, if you're looking for building+a little bit of management+decorating+pixel style you'll love it. Not as laid back as Town to City because animals can die if you stop paying attention and you can get bad reviews etc but it is really easy to understand the basics and just check on everything from time to time. It has some missions and a lot of locked decorations and perks to use so the loop is enjoyable

  • You can mod games on pc to get rid of energy and such in games like stardew. I hate energy stuff in farming games and so mod all of em to keep max energy.

  • Make Room

    Islanders

    Dorfromantik

These are all laid back games about decorating/city building! The last two have goals (getting points) but the stakes are super low.

  • It can be a little bit stressful at times, but using sandbox mode will reduce all stress. The Wandering Village. Its a city management where you need to save the world while being a village built on top of a large creature. I just finished the game yesterday and I adored it

Seconding this, I'm playing it right now!

  • Play my Anno 1800 games on super easy mode and use some mods that make some tighter resources bountiful. Love chilling with that game. Crazy amount of content as well. I can play one map for 50 hours easily 😅

  • Graveyard Keeper falls somewhere in the middle. It does have a timer and energy meter, but there's absolutely no requirement to go to bed at a specific time. Sleeping just serves to regen energy and health. On the other hand, there are specific NPCs and interactions that are tied to specific days of the week.

  • Not a suggestion, I just wanted to ask about town to city. I got it during the winter sale, but when I tried it, it seemed overwhelming - do you have tips?

  • Retro Relics - cozy metal detecting game without day cycle or time limits. Pixel art graphics :)

  • Palia is a great cozy game and free to play on switch/ps5. There is an energy bar but nothing happens if it runs out really. It’s more for bonuses on xp than anything.

  • Tropico 4 would be my suggestion

  • Foundation! It's also an organic/gridless city builder. 1.0 came out last year after ages in EA.

I haven't tried Town to City yet but based on the gameplay vids I've seen I think Foundation is longer and slightly more complex in terms of the management mechanics to keep citizens happy, but default difficulty is really chill compared to most city builders and you can play around with the settings to make it even easier.

"Combat" exists but is totally optional (you can just decide not to unlock/build the combat-related buildings) and happens off-screen - you train soldiers then send them off to fight, no one actually comes to attack your city.

It's 3D but very stylised/cartoon-ish, and there are lots of decoration options.

If you decide to play my one tip would be to try and build the inn as early as you can because it's an excellent source of money in the first half of the game :)

  • I was going to recommend some but it seems you are very picky by your last comment. Have you tried demos? Maybe that would help you.

  • Hearttopia

That has energy level and day and night which matches the timezone of the server you picked
