I have a standard tool box like most people have in their trucks. The tool box reaches from one side of the bed to the other and the open latches are in the front of the tool box.

I need to mount some truck bed ladder racks but most I see will interfere with the tool box as far as mounting the ladder racks and the clearance of opening the tool box.

Anyone have and suggestions with this issue or am I over thinking it?

  • Headache rack on the back and prop the ladder from the tailgate upwards angle to the cab?

  • You basically need a canopy style ladder rack. It sticks out farther with special mounting plates. Any canopy shop or place that installs racks can get them.

Yes after posting this I found some ideas. I was trying to avoid mounting anything to the roof of my truck, it’s my personal truck and now work truck, I started my own electrical contractor business so ladders are a must and I’m tired of having ladders hanging out of the bed of my bed.

The canopy style ladder rack is more than likely will be what I have to go with or just get side mount boxes to fit between rack mounts.

Hey man thank you for the info I really appreciate it.

  • I have dual toolboxes both running long ways over fenders

I looked at those and I may end up doing that. I have the existing toolbox but if nothing works then sides boxes is what I will go with.

It’s my personal truck too but I started my own electrical contractor business, I’m used to having a van when I worked for someone else.

Man thank you for the info. This helped. I really appreciate it

    Glad I could help👍

Do you prefer the over the fender boxes? I have been looking at them and think this is what I might do. Accessibility I think is going to be better with the fender boxes.

I'll send you some pics if you want, where do I send them?

Yea man that would be great. I’ll dm you and you could send the pics in the dm if you don’t mind. Thanks again brother
