This looks like Temu, which has a 20 dollar minimum for checking out. Most of the items have free shipping, surprisingly. Though Temu is quite known for its very harmful practices like sweatshops and child labor- so it’s not actually that surprising.
Which is why it's so annoying to see the rise of temu. It and shein are so pointless. We already had AliExpress, wish, and DHgate, so why exactly did we "need" any more of these obnoxious brands?
In theory yeah, in practice it hasnt been for almost 50 years. Crass first said "Punk is Dead" back in 1978. Especially since punk broke in the 90s and Green Day is selling out stadiums, id say its successfully been defanged and cooped into the consumerist mainstream.
Merch sales represent a surprising portion of most musicians' income, especially in the metal scene where everybody wears band shirts every day. The merch table at shows often makes more than the ticket sales. The artists don't get shit from bootlegs. You're literally buying stolen goods.
ive literally played in bands and bought original underground shit where else am i gonna fucking buy electric wizard shit for example these are really big bands lmao
Seems like I touched a nerve there but what I'm saying is true. Buying bootleg merch is buying stolen art. I guess bootlegs for defunct bands you can't directly support is a different thing, but you specifically mentioned Bongzilla who literally run their own merch store. You don't need to order it as a stolen graphic on a sweatshop fast fashion site. And don't act like you have no choice, you don't need to consoom fast fashion at all.
Just be honest with yourself and say you don't give a shit about supporting artists.
ive literally played in bands
For a living? Did you sell shirts? How then did you feel about "fans" buying your ripped-off designs from Chinese sweatshops instead?
Right. Next time you're buying merch at one of these super cool underground punk shows, tell the band members "I don't want to buy anything, I'm just going to copy these designs and buy them from China for 1/10th the price. Thanks!" and see how they feel about that
You’re buying band tees from a company that very very blatantly uses slave labor and child labor, and you are accepting that reality because the band tees that you bought were cheap. The disregard for the impact of your purchase simply because it was an enticing purchase makes it consumerist. Also, if the bands you’re purchasing merch for are even half decent, they should hate your guts for buying from such a shitty source rather than buying second hand or fan-made merch, if you couldn’t buy from the original, official bands.
I bet this is one of those deals where the shipping is 20 bucks and that is how they trick you into thinking the tshirt is only a dollar.
No, there's free shipping the shirts aren't that bad but I don't like them something is off why is that shirt so cheap
Slavery
Child labor
500% polyester

It's aliexpress which is essentially the same thing. And yes, it's just shitty fast fashion.
Which is why it's so annoying to see the rise of temu. It and shein are so pointless. We already had AliExpress, wish, and DHgate, so why exactly did we "need" any more of these obnoxious brands?
Nah aliexpress, on items like this it’s probably the “order 10 dollars worth of items get free shipping”
Even better, it's actually only a dollar and shipping is $2, it's just all made in sweatshops
Isn't punk kinda... like... anticonsumerist?
Yea, but nothing is more punk than selling tee shirts for a dollar

Why do people feel the need to spend money they don’t have to display a personality that isn’t theirs?
