Bondi Beach terrorist is Naveed Akram, a 24-year-old Muslim student from Lahore, Pakistan attending Sydney's al Murad Institute.

I believe this is what they are referring to.

    https://al-mawrid.org.au/about/

the basic objective of this institution is facilitation and perpetuation of explanatory and research work on the true understanding of Islam, the publication and mass communication of this understanding through all possible means, and augmentation of people’s knowledge and education through its dissemination.

What a wonderful reason to allow young Muslim men into your country on student visas. That sort of thing has never gone wrong.

It's not even controversial. They say it with their own mouths. Islam is not a religion it is a political ideology.

    parent root

More and more people in the West are waking up to this fact which is great. I just hope we did in time to reverse or stop its spread

    11 points ZarBandit

    parent root

It's not controversial in Muslim parts of the world, where it's a common brag. It's very controversial in the West.

    parent root
    20 points Nethias25

The left's narrative of diversity and tolerance of other culture is IMO valid narrative, BUT, it cuts both ways, the culture arriving needs to be tolerant of the cultures here and in western world. Otherwise, our tolerance of them is met with their intolerance. Hence, what we have. It has to exist on BOTH sides.

In fairness, the guy who wrestled the gun away from one of the shooters was also a Muslim.

    parent root
    68 points waidred

There were 2 or 3 muslims there murdering all the jews in sight and 1 who was against it. That matches up with polling that 70% of Arabs support the mass murder of jews on Oct 7th.

    parent root
    25 points AceChipEater

I mean for that to actually mean anything you also need to know how many muslims were there NOT murdering anyone.

Either way, it’s still a blip.

    parent root
    32 points waidred

It's not a "blip". It's not a coincidence. It's not an accident. It's a consequence. If you import a group that the majority of them support the murder of jews you can't act surprise when they murder jews. These liberal countries are more concerned with appeasing billions of Islamists than protecting their jewish population, which is exactly why the existence of an actual jewish state is absolutely necessary.

Gunmen were father and son, police commissioner says

New South Wales Police Commissioner Mel Lanyon is up next. He tells the press the investigation into the shooting has "progressed" overnight and confirms officers aren't looking for a further gunman.

Lanyon says the two shooters involved were a father and son aged 50 and 24.

He confirms the 50-year-old man died at the scene while the 24-year-old remains in hospital in critical condition.

This is messed up. From the BBC news feed.

    EDIT:

    And now:

Deceased gunman was a licenced gun holder - police say

Two search warrants were carried out overnight in the western Sydney suburbs of Bonnyrigg and Campsie, New South Wales Police Commissioner Lanyon tells the news conference.

Lanyon says the 50-year-old male was a licenced firearms holder and had six firearms linked to him.

It is believed those six firearms were also used in the offences on Bondi Beach, Lanyon says adding that he vows to investigate the matter thoroughly.

Finally, Lanyon says two New South Wales police officers remain in hospital and officers will be highly visible at places of worship.

I thought Australia had very strict gun laws. What happened there?

    parent
    86 points Left4DayZGone

One of the shooters was on a watch list, too, but classified a minimal risk.

    parent root
    16 points Midget_Stories

We have laws to stop citizens from getting guns. But we have a lot of organised crime. Anyone who wants to get a gun can do it.

    parent root
    15 points mdws1977

Yep. That’s what happens what you make laws to restrict guns:

Those who don’t care about the law have all the guns, while the law-abiding citizens have none.

    parent root
    174 points SlightWerewolf4428

    That's a damn good question isn't it?

Especially when the last mass shooting was the catalyst for a national gun ban that gun control advocates hail as the greatest things has ever happened.

The second greatest was presumably when they banned crime.

    parent root
    23 points ZarBandit

It’s okay, none of the citizens were armed, thank goodness. Who knows what might have happened.

    parent root
    10 points Rush_Is_Right

Yeah, but one of the unarmed citizens actually wrestled a weapon away so I can't wait for that to be parroted.

Remember everyone that most of the "people" on reddit defending this shooter, defending Muslim immigration, are mostly bots from the countries where these shooters are coming from.

Another thing we need to focus on is how Reddit as a whole does nothing to get rid of these bots which are on here just to defend this and ragebait actual people horrified about this.
