• Someone reported that this hero was also shot in the hand or arm, which if true might explain why he put down the rifle instead of shooting the terrorist.

The linked report says he was shot twice by the terrorist and is currently in surgery. Probably surgery is over now. I pray he is able to quickly fully recover. Physically. Mentally healing will be a much longer road.

Wouldn’t surprise me if his own government still finds something to charge him with and paint him as some sort of criminal. This is Australia we’re talking about. Right up there with Canada for government stupidity.

From the video i saw he was shot after. The guy he disarmed retreated and joined up with the other shooter who opened fire on him from the bridge.

Nah this is in Australia. I bet if he'd have shot the terrorist they would have charged him.

Exactly that. Australia’s far worse than Canada when it comes to heroic acts and self defense and how horribly they treat people for doing such things.

  • For all the gun control people - they were firing for 10 minutes, 10 F'n minutes before police arrived.

  • Imagine that. A mass shooting in a country where possessing guns is absolutely illegal for citizens. It’s almost like gun violence can happen even when there’s laws against it. Who would have thought?!

It's intellectually dishonest to dispute the correlation between generally widespread firearm access and banning it in totality.

And don't cry liberal at me for being impartial. I grew up shooting soda cans off the top of 16 Gal propane tanks.

More people drown in the ocean than the desert, but people still drown in the desert.

Look at all the libs failing to reply to you lol.

Almost certainly something along the lines of "It rarely happens!!" "If no one had guns this wouldn't be happening!!1"

As if laws stop absolutely anybody from doing absolutely anything. The knowledge to produce guns is out there. Even if they had a magic wand with 1 wish and wasted all of its power with poofing away every gun in existence and making them illegal, guess what's gonna happen?

People who know how to make guns will make more... that includes everyone from small manufacturers at home, to large scale factories. They will just start right back up, except now guns will be a VERY valuable commodity, that are now exclusively only owned by those who; know how to make them, know people who know how to make them, have enough money/power to convince those that know how to make them to make some for them, and finally, most important of all, criminals. As anyone who still wants to own one, for any purpose, would now be considered a criminal.

    Can't beat liberal logic.

  • This dude didn’t end the threat…  Even though he had every opportunity to… All he succeeded in doing was confiscating 1 of their 3 guns.  Terrorist dude just sauntered back to the bridge, picked up another gun, and started shooting again.

He was shot twice tough guy.

Not at all. It’s hard to tell exactly what kind of firearm it was. Regardless he had no idea how many rounds were left. If only one and he missed with all that adrenaline the shooter could have bum rushed him and got it back. He likely had no experience with firearms either.

You can tell just by how he holds it that he has no idea how to use it, unfortunately.

Australia would probably give him a life sentence if he had ended the threat

Cannot even stomach the idea of being chased through the streets by a madman with absolutely nothing to defend yourself with.. actual nightmare.

I will NEVER give up my guns.

  • Them Aussie gun laws working wonders yet again. Imagine being chased around by 3 terrorists with semi auto shotguns and rifles, and all you have on you is a phone and a pack of gum..

Then the guy manages to get one of their guns, aims it at them, and doesn't pull the trigger..? And just lets him walk back to the bridge towards his buddy to rearm himself..? That right there is what absolutely no training with guns does to someone.
