he does say the debate "halts between extremes". His reference to Captain Colomb's recent argument, would suggest he hasn't totally accepted the evidence of a "notorious" few...
Interesting read, it seems racial stereotypes have not changed by much. Malcolm is way ahead of his time in his speculation that the contemporary Chinese population census is invalid/grossly overestimated. Some things just don't change huh.
