But some people in here, not to name names, would still be concerned about the mEtRiCs and think we shouldn't be there because of a number on a spreadsheet.
How about this? Let's both win out until that game for a top 5 showdown. I think that could be really fun.
If it is the same person I am thinking of, their reasoning was they thought Purdue's performance in that game was an aberration and thus didn't change their overall thoughts on where Purdue should rank in the poll. I don't agree, but at least I can understand the thought process. I certainly can't understand someone like David Jablonski having Iowa State 5th.
What's crazy to me is I feel like we're generally ranked pretty inconsistently ballot to ballot. A large reason we stay ranked in that 12-18 range is that it just averages out there after all the variance in ballots.
For once, we're #13 because the voters actually put us there instead of being placed 5-10 spots higher or lower than the official rank and just averaging to #13 lol
Lol, yeah that's a rough mistake to make. I do think UNC is notably more chaotic than the pair of you though, I mean Michigan State has only 7 rankings that deviate from the norm total, Illinois has 15, and UNC has 33 (all by my very rough count).
Lol this is no hate on Nebraska, as a state fan i can say yall are good but idk about #2 just yet, but that dudes poll is hilarious…makes no sense at all!
My worry is that if we were Duke with this record and this schedule, we would be ranked number one, but we’re not because we’re in Nebraska. The other thing is once we lose a game watch us drop to 20 or 25 just because we’re Nebraska.
he hates us too, fuck him. also why the hell don't we play y'all this year? what the fk is going on with the ACC scheduling... why does everyone play two teams twice yet miss one opponent altogether?
Lil Jemmy was a legit hyper exemplar of a human being. He never gets mentioned in the same breath as Washington and others, but honestly damn near single handedly designed our government. Authored 29 of the Federalist Papers essays. He almost wrote every word of the Bill of Rights on top of that. Which is, imo, the most important political document since the Magna Carta. His contributions to worldwide freedom and individual rights rival what people like Newton and Einstein did for Science.
This is a series I've been doing on /r/CollegeBasketball for 7 years, and now /r/CFB for 11. The post attempts to visualize consistency between voters in the AP Poll in a single image. Additionally it sorts each AP voter by similarity to the group. Notably, this is not a measure of how "good" a voter is, just how consistent they are with the group. Especially preseason, having a diversity of opinions and ranking styles is advantageous to having a true consensus poll. Polls tend to coalesce towards each other as the season goes on.
Kyle Franko was the most consistent voter this week. Andrew Quinn, is the most consistent on the season, followed by Chris Nee, Sam Rothman, Jackson Payne, and Trevor Hass.
David Jablonski was the biggest outlier this week. David Jablonski, Dave Borges, Seth Davis, Percy Allen, and Dylan Sinn are the biggest outliers on the season.
March 15. Despite Gonzaga running the table in the WCC, none of their wins were convincing enough to warrant a 2 seed, as the AP kept pushing them back because they keep only scraping by. They get a 3 seed and have to travel to Tampa. Every team ahead of them has 3 losses, besides Arizona who only has lost to BYU in Provo, but got their revenge in Tucson a few weeks later. Of note, Duke is a 2 seed despite finishing the regular season 3-3, with losses to Michigan, UNC, and (somehow) Syracuse in that span.
Shout out zach klein GT affiliation…only idiot to rank UNC one spot in front of msu when they have the same record and MSU beat UNC by SIXTEEN on a neutral court lol
I am once again convinced Parth Upadhyahya has only seen BYU in the 2nd half, and now missed the Utah game due to the playoffs. I don't think we've played like a top 5 team for 40 full minutes once yet this season. All the capability but have played too sloppy.
Idk but ranking Michigan 2 or 3 after losing to an unranked team, having close games to Penn State, TCU, and Wake, and then their Auburn win aging very poorly, is crazy to me
Man anyone who still has Purdue lower than 6 at this point after our only loss is #2 and none of our wins were super close needs to grow up.
Same with anyone who still has Duke in their top 5 that team has looked like crap (still top 10 easily but relative to the top teams they’ve looked extremely underwhelming)
Yeah I might frame this one lmao. Seeing us get votes that high is still insane to me.
I don't want this run to end. Ever.
Nebrasketball is eternal
at the dawn of the universe there were 6 elemental entities called Infinity Stones used to control every aspect of life and create Nebraskaball
Two people have is ranked 3rd and one has us ranked 2nd. Wild.
Nebrasketball is my favorite sport.
I love the way they dribble up and down the court!!
Obviously David Jablonski is the greatest knower of ball!
Nebraska’s own guy has them at 7.
As a battered and traumatized Husker fan, wouldn't you?
I still can't believe this is all real, and I know plenty of us are waiting on that other shoe to drop.
And too many have Nebraska outside the top 10
Three #3s, actually. Amazing.
Counting is hard.
Wait to frame it until you are #1 in a couple weeks.
If y'all stay undefeated and beat us at home on 1/27 it would be hard to argue you not being in at least the top 3.
From your mouth to God's ears lmao.
But some people in here, not to name names, would still be concerned about the mEtRiCs and think we shouldn't be there because of a number on a spreadsheet.
How about this? Let's both win out until that game for a top 5 showdown. I think that could be really fun.
David Jablonski knows ball
Probably the smartest voter ever!
Balls in his mouth, what an idiot
Iowa State at 5?! Sorry, but he does not know ball.
Kinda annoying we are sitll geting votes for 11th. I mean seriously I don't know if we will be a true contender but we a really great resume so far.
2nd best resume in the country. I like staying an underdog with a chip on our shoulder though.
Nothing to do but win!
you don't just waltz into pinnacle bank
You're goddamn right.
(Please don't Oregon.) I'm so nervous for every game now lmao.
The number two at the bottom for sure caught my eye
Randy Heitz sticking to his Purdue one ranking above Iowa State for the last month each week is a clear bit at this point.
Why would he change it at this point? Its his thing
Is this a troll? Genuinely, I don’t understand the reasoning.
If only there was some metric to rank these two teams against each other....
Perhaps a hypothetical “who would win?”
Or head to head?
Intriguing idea. But I guess we’ll never know…
Came to comment on this lol
My working theory is that he initially made a mistake, but now he’s in too deep and he’s committed to the bit and can’t back out.
Welp at least he's consistent.
Look at that absolute wall of orange block I’s at #13 lol
Even more than that, it's MSU at 12, Illinois at 13, UNC at 14... All up and down the entire chart.
Seems like a crazy amount of agreement for three spots in the middle of the poll.
I was thinking the same thing. Nobody from 3-11 has as much universal agreement as the 12-14 slots.
are we the fellowship of the Ring.....
Except for Zach Klein who inexplicably put UNC a spot above us even though we beat them head-to-head on a neutral floor.
Wow yeah that’s wild
I want to say I’d give us the slight edge over MSU, but who am I to argue with EVERY AP VOTER lol
Illinois and Michigan State are really interesting with that considering all the variance for each team on either side of them
Do you mean Michigan state? UNC is mostly right behind us too. Beyond that, a lot more chaos
Lol, yeah that's a rough mistake to make. I do think UNC is notably more chaotic than the pair of you though, I mean Michigan State has only 7 rankings that deviate from the norm total, Illinois has 15, and UNC has 33 (all by my very rough count).
We are no better and no worse lol
Randy cant keep getting away with Iowa St vs Purdue erasure
I'm just glad he's not some homer Purdue guy so we can fully wash our hands of it. We don't agree with it either.
Imagine dropping Michigan from #2 to #10 like Mark Berman did.
Below Gonzaga at 5 lmao
make it make sense!
Didn't we beat Gonzaga by like the most in program history this year?
In the Mark Few era, but basically.
Obviously it's because BYU beat Wisconsin and Wisconsin beat Michigan. Therefore BYU > Michigan
/s
I’m just surprised it wasn’t Andy Greder
2 ranked Nebraska spotted
I get that we lost, but putting us right behind Gonzaga is wild lol
Thought it was only gonna be the OSU guy doing it which I figured was just pettiness. Nope, multiple people with Michigan behind Gonzaga
Why doesn’t Dave Preston still love us like he used to?
Probably transferred to Penn State
Dayton fans are okay in my book
Lol this is no hate on Nebraska, as a state fan i can say yall are good but idk about #2 just yet, but that dudes poll is hilarious…makes no sense at all!
We have the #2 strength of record. Take victory margins away, our resume is very nice
My worry is that if we were Duke with this record and this schedule, we would be ranked number one, but we’re not because we’re in Nebraska. The other thing is once we lose a game watch us drop to 20 or 25 just because we’re Nebraska.
desperately need Miami OH to last long enough to be ranked
They finally made it into RCBB Poll!
Always been a huge fan of David Jablonski
He's good people
Almost unanimous
SsshhhhhhaaaaaaaAAAANNNNEEEEE!!! wtf mang...
53 out of 61 voters have michigan st at #12, that’s some serious consensus
So #12 is a mortal lock... they'll stay at 12 for the next month if they keep winning.
When your total spread of voters is: 1 vote #9, 3 votes #10, 3 votes #11, 53 voters #12, 1 voter #13, I'd say that position is yours.
Yup and they don't play a ranked team until UofM on the 30th. Out of the next 5 games IU tomorrow is the only team above 500 in league play.
Expect us to be hold up on 12 for a while.
WTF Jablonski!?
He's just chasing that sweet Nebrasketball karma.
David Jablonskeet can lick my balls
The disrespect with having Nebraska outside the top 10 is real
David Jablonski continues to have the only ballot that matters
Only loss is to UConn by 2 points while down two starters. But still #11 in the AP. Make it make sense.
Not only that, but dropping two spots after going 2-0 this week and winning 12th straight since the UConn game.
I see you're learning about east coast bias first hand. You'll get used to it.
And UConn’s only loss is down two starters v. the #1 team. I think we’re putting more thought into it than some of these mooks.
Seth Davis's continued anti-UVA bias after all these years is just embarrassing.
Look at Borges.
entirely transparent at this point.
he hates us too, fuck him. also why the hell don't we play y'all this year? what the fk is going on with the ACC scheduling... why does everyone play two teams twice yet miss one opponent altogether?
Its simply amazing. Thought he just hated Tony, but apparently its just us.
Jablobski with Iowa state at 5? Come on
This is a typo right? 😂

Another lazy voter who wasn't paying attention to what Texas school they were voting for lol?
Always thought James Madison was a highly underrated founding father
He brings the thunder.
YOU DON'T HAVE THE VOTES
You’re gonna need AP approval
and you don't have the votes! Aha ha ha ha!
Thinking prob the best founding father
I like Jefferson as well. No bias I promise.
In terms of presidents, Jefferson and Buchanan top 2 for sure

I want whatever Jablonski is smoking
We've already "Got it!"
I’m on for the Nebraska hype, but 2?? Seriously? Also, Michigan at 10 is wild
Wouldn't you say the /#1 team in the B1G is probably one of the best teams in the country?
I know I've said it all along lol.
With Gonzaga at 5 in that same poll lolol
[deleted]
If you’re just looking at wins and losses (which is valid!), it’s fair. If you’re factoring the underlying metrics, not so much.
edit: commented this before the Michigan part was added
Mark Berman with 1 loss Gonzaga at 5 and 1 loss Michigan at 10. Ok...
I'm sorry Johnny Congdon, Brice Cherry, Michael McCleary, & Mick Shaffer. I wasn't familiar with y'all's game. You 4 have impeccable taste.
Don’t forget Abby Schnabel who put A&M at 13th instead of Texas Tech lol
Lmao I missed her because I didn't check past the the 21-25 column. The GOAT herself
Randy Heitz is invited to the cookout.
All is right with the world once again.
Almost.
Oh fuck, my old ass eyes failed me
Mr David Jablonski having Iowa State at 5 screams “I want to be a contrarian”
Seems like he wanted to shoehorn the surprise “Cinderella” teams as high as possible (Nebraska and vandy)
Nebrasketball at 2 also
UConn - Zona would be a fun rematch with both teams now healthy.
Was Zona not the first time?
This is a series I've been doing on /r/CollegeBasketball for 7 years, and now /r/CFB for 11. The post attempts to visualize consistency between voters in the AP Poll in a single image. You can view all weeks here, for other sports too.
It must have choked Seth Davis to let UVA into the top 25, and Borges still hasn’t.
Jablonski in the bottom 5 every single poll. At what point do you tag in someone doing pin the tail on the donkey over someone that bad?
Jablonski for president
Randy what are you doing bby
David J. You da man!
Scott Richy & Dylan Sinn are definitely invited to the BBQ
Forgive me I also missed Chris Murray & the GOAT David Jablonski.
Tbh given that metrics still have Michigan as comfortably the best team in the country, I’m surprised no one gave them a first place vote.
At least that would be justifiable, unlike ranking Purdue over us
The AP voters don't care as much about analytics, unlike the voters in the User Poll.
Also, remember that Purdue hasn't lost since that ISU loss and has a quality loss . . which ISU doesn't have.
Cant argue with that logic.
The moment Andy Greeder has been waiting for
Brenna Greene they could never make me hate you
Not that I’m complaining but I was not expecting Chris Lea to rank us so high.
Brenna Greene is objectively the most intelligent AP voter. I have absolutely no bias in saying this.
Brenna Greene knows (Big 12) ball
Okay I get bumping us down a bit. But below Gonzaga who we dropped 40 points on at a neutral site is straight disrespectful
I'll take a quarter bag of whatever Jablonski is smoking. It must be debilitating.
Fuck you, Shane!
I can already see the future:
The predictions here are simultaneously hilarious and terrifying.
Literally no frame of mind for someone who puts Connecticut at #7
The polls with the most variance this week left us out. Interesting…
Houston writer ranking UT higher. Respect, but we’re both probably going to really disappointed as conference play continues.
Wow look at that MSU ranking consistency?!
Zach Klein thinks MSU is worse than UNC, a team we beat.
Jeff Rabjohns my guy appreciate the 3 points we'll remember you as a believer when no one else was
Zach Klien has UNC above MSU, lol
Remember when everyone was saying Michigan should be #1 over Zona?
David Jablonski (Dayton) had Nebraska at 2. Nebraska’s own guy, Kevin Sjuts had Nebraska at 7.
You think you’re cool, Shane Mettlen?! You think you’re edgy?!
What did we ever do to you, Shane Mettlen???
Nebraska at #2 is wild
David Jablonski got me a little tight in the pants.
Huge fan of David Jablonski. Always have been. This guy knows ball.
The 14 - 1 Michigan tam at # 8 pick by the Ohio State voter has them one spot behind Gonzaga, who they beat by 40.
Lol
Did Shane Mettlen get rejected by UNC? He's had a weird voting pattern with them all season.
Michigan being ranked under Gonzaga by some is funny
David Jablonski is a certified ball-knower
Disagree
Jablonski fucking loves us.
Side note: what's up with these guys ranking Michigan so high still after they got smacked in the mouth by badgers?
Dude from VT dropping Michigan to #10 is crazy work. They are still stat wise, by far the best team in the country.
Shout out zach klein GT affiliation…only idiot to rank UNC one spot in front of msu when they have the same record and MSU beat UNC by SIXTEEN on a neutral court lol
I like Scott Richey
You should do this for the userpoll 😅
Dores with quite the range...
Jeff Rabjohns, I'm feeling it
Brenden Martin with the sickos ballot of the week
Michigan has a bad game and they get moved to 10th in Berhams mind lmao
crazy that pat rooney is the only one that got the top 5 right lmao
It’s interesting how many voters have MSU at 12. All but 7 voters. Lowest standard deviation for any team besides Arizona
I am once again convinced Parth Upadhyahya has only seen BYU in the 2nd half, and now missed the Utah game due to the playoffs. I don't think we've played like a top 5 team for 40 full minutes once yet this season. All the capability but have played too sloppy.
Random fact about the voting: Miami received two 19th-place votes and zero 20th or 21st place votes.
Shane, get bent, nerd.
Stephen Means having Michigan behind Gonzaga is pretty funny
We love you Shane!
Hmmmm.... Beat #4 by 3, lost to #5 by 16, lost to #8 by 30. Lord help us when we play unranked teams not named Marquette.
BEAR DOWNNNN ARIZONAAAA
BEARRR DOWWNNNN RED AND BLUE
LETS GOOOOOO
It would be interesting to see what the spread would be between Arizona and Iowa State on a neutral court
I see that Miami OH over there, sneaky sneaky
From quick glance, UofH ranked from 3 - 11 from every voter About right
Jeff Rabjohns doesn’t know Michigan lost.
we are truly underperforming
I like this Jablonski bro
RANK US!
Props to Andrew and Chris understanding the assignment and generally nailing it.
David Jabalanski is a bro
LOL Duke got a second place vote! There's no way that person has watched our last 6 games.
David Jablonski, more like Jabroni. At some point these people need their voting rights taken away.
David Jablonski 😳
What is John Rothstein smoking? Tennessee and Georgia above Florida? He forget to watch the games this week?
David Jablonski should have his credentials stripped. Absolute clown take from him.
Same with anyone who still has Duke in their top 5 that team has looked like crap (still top 10 easily but relative to the top teams they’ve looked extremely underwhelming)
this never stops being surreal
Randy Heinz and David Jablonski definitely smoke crack together.
The cult of Dylan Sinn is growing!!!! More people are realizing that top 5 is reality!!
