All AP Voter Ballots - Week 11

  • 145 points ronnie1014

Yeah I might frame this one lmao. Seeing us get votes that high is still insane to me.

I don't want this run to end. Ever.

    parent
    43 points AedemHonoris

    Nebrasketball is eternal

    parent root
    30 points ssp25

at the dawn of the universe there were 6 elemental entities called Infinity Stones used to control every aspect of life and create Nebraskaball

    parent root
    38 points MaybeLiterally

Two people have is ranked 3rd and one has us ranked 2nd. Wild.

    parent root
    24 points ronnie1014

    Nebrasketball is my favorite sport.

I love the way they dribble up and down the court!!

    parent root
    21 points DrinkNKnowThings

Obviously David Jablonski is the greatest knower of ball!

    parent root
    13 points Inevitable_Catch_566

Nebraska’s own guy has them at 7.

    parent root
    9 points ronnie1014

As a battered and traumatized Husker fan, wouldn't you?

I still can't believe this is all real, and I know plenty of us are waiting on that other shoe to drop.

    parent root
    9 points howsaboutyou

And too many have Nebraska outside the top 10

    parent root
    6 points Briggity_Brak

    Three #3s, actually. Amazing.

    parent root
    4 points MaybeLiterally

    Counting is hard.

    parent root
    32 points prosocialbehavior

Wait to frame it until you are #1 in a couple weeks.

    parent root
    41 points ronnie1014

    parent root
    9 points prosocialbehavior

If y'all stay undefeated and beat us at home on 1/27 it would be hard to argue you not being in at least the top 3.

    parent root
    15 points ronnie1014

From your mouth to God's ears lmao.

But some people in here, not to name names, would still be concerned about the mEtRiCs and think we shouldn't be there because of a number on a spreadsheet.

How about this? Let's both win out until that game for a top 5 showdown. I think that could be really fun.

    parent root
    30 points Winter_Win_5531

    David Jablonski knows ball

    parent root
    16 points I_Like_Quiet

    Probably the smartest voter ever!

    parent root
    4 points c5corvette

Balls in his mouth, what an idiot

    parent root
    13 points Longjumping-Big-1418

Iowa State at 5?! Sorry, but he does not know ball.

    parent root
    12 points TheRealTofuey

Kinda annoying we are sitll geting votes for 11th. I mean seriously I don't know if we will be a true contender but we a really great resume so far.

    parent root
    4 points ronnie1014

2nd best resume in the country. I like staying an underdog with a chip on our shoulder though.

    Nothing to do but win!

    parent root
    6 points tha_billet

you don't just waltz into pinnacle bank

    parent root
    3 points ronnie1014

    You're goddamn right.

(Please don't Oregon.) I'm so nervous for every game now lmao.

    parent root
    3 points fridder

The number two at the bottom for sure caught my eye

    parent root
  • 194 points bdostrem00

Randy Heitz sticking to his Purdue one ranking above Iowa State for the last month each week is a clear bit at this point.

    parent
    39 points Maxkpop247

Why would he change it at this point? Its his thing

    parent root
    27 points Brytcyd

Is this a troll? Genuinely, I don’t understand the reasoning.

    parent root
    15 points Herby20

If it is the same person I am thinking of, their reasoning was they thought Purdue's performance in that game was an aberration and thus didn't change their overall thoughts on where Purdue should rank in the poll. I don't agree, but at least I can understand the thought process. I certainly can't understand someone like David Jablonski having Iowa State 5th.

    parent root
    23 points tastepdad

If only there was some metric to rank these two teams against each other....

    parent root
    13 points FarAccident7461

Perhaps a hypothetical “who would win?”

    parent root
    4 points tastepdad

    Or head to head?

    parent root
    7 points FarAccident7461

Intriguing idea. But I guess we’ll never know…

    parent root
    3 points Cooproxx

Came to comment on this lol

    parent root
    3 points bakonydraco

My working theory is that he initially made a mistake, but now he’s in too deep and he’s committed to the bit and can’t back out.

    parent root
    2 points mutual_coherence

    Welp at least he's consistent.

    parent root
  • 73 points InnocuousAssClown

Look at that absolute wall of orange block I’s at #13 lol

    parent
    58 points Medium_Medium

Even more than that, it's MSU at 12, Illinois at 13, UNC at 14... All up and down the entire chart.

Seems like a crazy amount of agreement for three spots in the middle of the poll.

    parent root
    19 points RheagarTargaryen

I was thinking the same thing. Nobody from 3-11 has as much universal agreement as the 12-14 slots.

    parent root
    7 points ssp25

are we the fellowship of the Ring.....

    parent root
    11 points JtotheC23

What's crazy to me is I feel like we're generally ranked pretty inconsistently ballot to ballot. A large reason we stay ranked in that 12-18 range is that it just averages out there after all the variance in ballots.

For once, we're #13 because the voters actually put us there instead of being placed 5-10 spots higher or lower than the official rank and just averaging to #13 lol

    parent root
    8 points Nostalgia-89

Except for Zach Klein who inexplicably put UNC a spot above us even though we beat them head-to-head on a neutral floor.

    parent root
    4 points InnocuousAssClown

    Wow yeah that’s wild

I want to say I’d give us the slight edge over MSU, but who am I to argue with EVERY AP VOTER lol

    parent root
    3 points filthysven

Illinois and Michigan State are really interesting with that considering all the variance for each team on either side of them

    parent root
    3 points InnocuousAssClown

Do you mean Michigan state? UNC is mostly right behind us too. Beyond that, a lot more chaos

    parent root
    3 points filthysven

Lol, yeah that's a rough mistake to make. I do think UNC is notably more chaotic than the pair of you though, I mean Michigan State has only 7 rankings that deviate from the norm total, Illinois has 15, and UNC has 33 (all by my very rough count).

    parent root
    3 points PayCreepy5430

Didn't we beat Gonzaga by like the most in program history this year?

    parent root

In the Mark Few era, but basically.

    parent root

    parent root

    parent

Lol this is no hate on Nebraska, as a state fan i can say yall are good but idk about #2 just yet, but that dudes poll is hilarious…makes no sense at all!

    parent root
    24 points EstablishmentSlow754

We have the #2 strength of record. Take victory margins away, our resume is very nice

    parent root
    12 points MaybeLiterally

My worry is that if we were Duke with this record and this schedule, we would be ranked number one, but we’re not because we’re in Nebraska. The other thing is once we lose a game watch us drop to 20 or 25 just because we’re Nebraska.

    parent root

53 out of 61 voters have michigan st at #12, that’s some serious consensus

    parent
  • 14 points ItAintLongButItsThin

So #12 is a mortal lock... they'll stay at 12 for the next month if they keep winning.

    parent
    7 points Gamecat235

When your total spread of voters is: 1 vote #9, 3 votes #10, 3 votes #11, 53 voters #12, 1 voter #13, I'd say that position is yours.

    parent root
    4 points ItAintLongButItsThin

Yup and they don't play a ranked team until UofM on the 30th. Out of the next 5 games IU tomorrow is the only team above 500 in league play.

Expect us to be hold up on 12 for a while.

    parent root

Only loss is to UConn by 2 points while down two starters. But still #11 in the AP. Make it make sense.

    parent
    5 points Batdanimation

Not only that, but dropping two spots after going 2-0 this week and winning 12th straight since the UConn game.

    parent root
    5 points Imaravencawcaw

I see you're learning about east coast bias first hand. You'll get used to it.

    parent root

Lil Jemmy was a legit hyper exemplar of a human being. He never gets mentioned in the same breath as Washington and others, but honestly damn near single handedly designed our government. Authored 29 of the Federalist Papers essays. He almost wrote every word of the Bill of Rights on top of that. Which is, imo, the most important political document since the Magna Carta. His contributions to worldwide freedom and individual rights rival what people like Newton and Einstein did for Science.

This is a series I've been doing on /r/CollegeBasketball for 7 years, and now /r/CFB for 11. The post attempts to visualize consistency between voters in the AP Poll in a single image. Additionally it sorts each AP voter by similarity to the group. Notably, this is not a measure of how "good" a voter is, just how consistent they are with the group. Especially preseason, having a diversity of opinions and ranking styles is advantageous to having a true consensus poll. Polls tend to coalesce towards each other as the season goes on.

You can view all weeks here, for other sports too.

Kyle Franko was the most consistent voter this week. Andrew Quinn, is the most consistent on the season, followed by Chris Nee, Sam Rothman, Jackson Payne, and Trevor Hass.

David Jablonski was the biggest outlier this week. David Jablonski, Dave Borges, Seth Davis, Percy Allen, and Dylan Sinn are the biggest outliers on the season.

    parent
    9 points MfrBVa

It must have choked Seth Davis to let UVA into the top 25, and Borges still hasn’t.

    parent root

Tbh given that metrics still have Michigan as comfortably the best team in the country, I’m surprised no one gave them a first place vote.

At least that would be justifiable, unlike ranking Purdue over us

    parent
    14 points PageSide84

The AP voters don't care as much about analytics, unlike the voters in the User Poll.

Also, remember that Purdue hasn't lost since that ISU loss and has a quality loss . . which ISU doesn't have.

I can already see the future:

March 15. Despite Gonzaga running the table in the WCC, none of their wins were convincing enough to warrant a 2 seed, as the AP kept pushing them back because they keep only scraping by. They get a 3 seed and have to travel to Tampa. Every team ahead of them has 3 losses, besides Arizona who only has lost to BYU in Provo, but got their revenge in Tucson a few weeks later. Of note, Duke is a 2 seed despite finishing the regular season 3-3, with losses to Michigan, UNC, and (somehow) Syracuse in that span.

It would be interesting to see what the spread would be between Arizona and Iowa State on a neutral court

LOL Duke got a second place vote! There's no way that person has watched our last 6 games.

David Jablonski, more like Jabroni. At some point these people need their voting rights taken away.

Idk but ranking Michigan 2 or 3 after losing to an unranked team, having close games to Penn State, TCU, and Wake, and then their Auburn win aging very poorly, is crazy to me

Man anyone who still has Purdue lower than 6 at this point after our only loss is #2 and none of our wins were super close needs to grow up.

Same with anyone who still has Duke in their top 5 that team has looked like crap (still top 10 easily but relative to the top teams they’ve looked extremely underwhelming)
