Both LSU writers having us lower than MSU is crazy business. If it wasn’t already clear after the BK situation that the LSU media and fanbase live in an alternate reality here’s more evidence for you.
Chris Murray, Connor Earegood, David Jablonski, Jon Wilner, Kate Rogerson, Mick Shaffer, Parth Upadhyaya, Sam Rothman, Scott Richey, and Zach Klein (who did not vote on Dec 22nd, but had Arizona #1 on Dec 15th) all moved their votes from Arizona #1 to Michigan #1 and Arizona #2.
Chris Lea moved Arizona from #2 to #1 (swapping Arizona and Michigan in the other direction).
Dave Preston and Shane Mettlen kept Arizona at #3 (both have ISU at #2). Dave Preston moving ISU down from #1 and voting for Michigan at #1.
Owen Siebring moved Michigan up to #2 (from #3) and Andy Greder moved Michigan up to #2 (from #4).
Other interesting outliers:
John Johnson voted for Cal at #19.
Mark Ziegler voted for Kentucky at #19.
David Jablonski voted for Saint Louis at #17.
Percy Allen voted for LSU at #18.
35 total voters ranked Villanova including Brice Cherry at #15, Victor Flores at #18, and Dave Borges and Shane Mettlen #19 (36 voters voted for UCF).
Percy Allen certainly made some interesting choices this week. He's one of 2 who has LSU in the Top 25. He has UGA at #11 (highest for UGA by any voter). And of course the only reason he's on my radar is he ranked Bama lower than any other voter at #20.
If it makes you feel any better, Percy Allen had the ballot with the furthest deviance from the rest this week, so it's not just you seeing this. That ballot is pretty whack.
Just checked Ziegler for the last couple votes... he's moved us UP after this loss to Bama. Had us in the back half of the 20s for the last few weeks. Wasn't really paying attention the teams around us but don't really get that spot at all.
Damn, it hurts even more to know that literally exactly the right number of people needed to change their votes to get Michigan #1, and then one guy went the opposite way to prevent it.
Easily in the top 8 IMO, but I'm not sure they've done enough yet to jump ourselves, Duke, UConn, or even Houston. Only 22nd in KenPom, but their non-conference SOS is 300th and their overall SOS is 132nd.
I don't (yet) believe that Nebraska is a better team than Purdue, but if I did a blind comparison of the last month of results, I would pick Nebraska easily. That plus the undefeated bit makes me a bit surprised that only two voters have Nebraska ahead.
These are great stats but in a blind resume Purdue is better in every metric except winning %. Not cherry picking here either, Nebraska is deficient in most statistical categories compared to Purdue. They are a good team but even over the last month Purdue's metrics are still better
I don't know why I look at this every week. It just makes me mad that anyone pays many of these morons to follow and write about college basketball. There are so many picks up and down the board that shows that these guys are not paying attention at all (or worse, that they actually think that what they are doing is correct). Such a stupid fucking process.
Yea, he messed up, hopefully he learns to double check his work in the future. The good news is the negative consequences are minimal, the 12 points wouldn’t be enough to push Tech up a spot and even if they were, it’s not a big deal.
As an alum that lives an hour away, I’m going next Tuesday for the first time in years. Lets hope they win the next 2 so they are 17-0 going into next week
Awesome. I want to go to the UMass game on the 17th but I live in the Boston area, so that drive on a Tuesday and then back to the city for work the next day will be brutal.
It’s weird to me that only 2 of 61 voters have Iowa State at 2. Tbf if i had a vote i prob would also put them at 3 simply because the Net and KenPom both have it michigan-arizona-isu at 1-2-3 in that order but it seems close enough that there should be a few voters who either think a bit less of Arizona or Michigan than consensus or a bit more of iowa state than consensus.
Yeah, i thought the one or two #1 votes they were getting before was about right, and i still think that. The fact that there are more voters that have Purdue ahead of ISU than have ISU at #1 is laughable.
When I saw Cal in the receiving votes area with more than a couple of points I was excited for them. When I saw that all but one of their points came from one voter... LMAO.
I see a whole lot of red block Ms on this list. UCF, I’m kindly asking you to lose so we can experience this whole ‘ranked’ thing for at least one week. We’ll give it back in June.
Look at all those non-ball knowers not putting Villanova in their ballots. At least Cherry is once again leading the pack of voters. He was ahead of the curve earlier in the season. The AP will get their act together after we go 2-0 this week.
This is a series I've been doing on /r/CollegeBasketball for 7 years, and now /r/CFB for 11. The post attempts to visualize consistency between voters in the AP Poll in a single image. Additionally it sorts each AP voter by similarity to the group. Notably, this is not a measure of how "good" a voter is, just how consistent they are with the group. Especially preseason, having a diversity of opinions and ranking styles is advantageous to having a true consensus poll. Polls tend to coalesce towards each other as the season goes on.
Brenna Greene, Scott Hamilton, and Zach Klein all came back, so we're back up to 61 voters. Note that the AP skipped a poll last week. The AP site is calling this their week 9 poll, but this is really week 10, so I am referring to it as the week 10 poll.
Chris Lea was the most consistent voter this week. Chris Nee, is the most consistent on the season, followed by Andrew Quinn, Sam Rothman, Jackson Payne, and Trevor Hass.
Percy Allen was the biggest outlier this week. Dave Borges, David Jablonski, Seth Davis, Percy Allen, and Shane Mettlen are the biggest outliers on the season.
Honestly, the way I read his vote... He's higher on a few teams he's seen (UConn played them) + coaches he respects...and he's penalized other teams for coaches he doesn't like as much 😅
It's a weird ballot but I can kinda see the logic.
Toyloy Brown - drops Nebraska 2 spots for remaining undefeated and beating a top 10 team.
Step into my office.
You're fired.
Yeah, clown ballot on his part.
Imagine still having Michigan State ranked ahead of Nebrasketball. Brian Holland should have his vote taken away too.
I'm with you on that, and loving the Nebrasketball vibe, but also a few of these guys ranking Nebraska ahead of Purdue need to calm their tits.
Ya that was weird to me too
Both LSU writers having us lower than MSU is crazy business. If it wasn’t already clear after the BK situation that the LSU media and fanbase live in an alternate reality here’s more evidence for you.
A LOT of movement at the top worth mentioning:
Chris Murray, Connor Earegood, David Jablonski, Jon Wilner, Kate Rogerson, Mick Shaffer, Parth Upadhyaya, Sam Rothman, Scott Richey, and Zach Klein (who did not vote on Dec 22nd, but had Arizona #1 on Dec 15th) all moved their votes from Arizona #1 to Michigan #1 and Arizona #2.
Chris Lea moved Arizona from #2 to #1 (swapping Arizona and Michigan in the other direction).

Owen Siebring moved Michigan up to #2 (from #3) and Andy Greder moved Michigan up to #2 (from #4).
Other interesting outliers:
Dude, mark zeigler moved UK up 2 spots from his last ballot.
I’d love to have whatever he’s smoking.
It makes no sense. None.
I read the OP after posting and saw that Percy's been whack all year. I'll definitely be following his ballots the rest of the year for the giggles.
Only one that doesn’t have Arkansas ranked as well despite 2 wins vs his own poll and all 3 losses coming to top 15 teams
Interesting how our rankings are quite consistent this week, with the exception of Allen. I can't help but wonder if he just forgot about us?
He’s had us 5-10 spots better than anyone else every week so far. Don’t know what he sees but I appreciate it
I’m glad that him leaving us out didn’t affect our spot.
He has ranked Kansas for 1 week this entire season
Just checked Ziegler for the last couple votes... he's moved us UP after this loss to Bama. Had us in the back half of the 20s for the last few weeks. Wasn't really paying attention the teams around us but don't really get that spot at all.
Yeah and Abby Schnaple moved you guys in from being unranked. Quality Losses, yo!
Damn, it hurts even more to know that literally exactly the right number of people needed to change their votes to get Michigan #1, and then one guy went the opposite way to prevent it.
I yearn for the 1.
Toyloy doesn’t watch much basketball….or even look at the results.
Somehow:
Randy Heitz believes we are better than a team that beat us by 20+ on our own court.
Chris Murray and Brenden Martin have decided to move Nebraskaball ahead of us in the rankings for...reasons
I came to comment on this! Purdue is great, but I don't know in what world they can be ahead of ISU at this point.
But what if the game was a fluke? I think the ncaa should replay the game to prove it wasn’t.
It really does a disservice to both teams to let this stand
More quality losses
Offensive efficiency
What having a degree from OU does to a mf
I’m with you on Point 1, but I think everyone should have Nebraska at #4 or #5, especially if they win @Indiana and @Ohio State this week.
Easily? Since Dec. 1st:
These are great stats but in a blind resume Purdue is better in every metric except winning %. Not cherry picking here either, Nebraska is deficient in most statistical categories compared to Purdue. They are a good team but even over the last month Purdue's metrics are still better
I don't know why I look at this every week. It just makes me mad that anyone pays many of these morons to follow and write about college basketball. Professional sportswriters are more objective and insightful than fans.
Listen I'm all aboard the hype train but three voters putting us at 6 is a little crazy.
It evens out with Toyloy ranking us at 15, 3 spots behind Michigan State.
And dropping Nebraska after the win too!
Wild rankings between that and Randy putting Purdue over the Iowa State
I mean.. if we win this week I can believe it. Still hesitant thought.
I got good news for you
We're above Duke!
I’m starting to realize AP voters are a bunch of biased shitheads.
Also, several of them don't watch college basketball
One of them put Texas top 20 and did not rank Texas Tech at all…
Funny thing is. Ill bet he meant to type tech.
Most of them…
4 people ranked Seton Hall and not Nova a week after Nova beat Seton Hall on the road… insane…
Andy you dawg you
Andy Greder has Michigan at 2, somebody queue up the "war is over" song.
I can’t believe it.
There’s no way he ever puts them #1 though. This is the ceiling
Big moves by Andy Greder. He has moved Michigan from #4-#2. Look out folks.
Disappointed. Stick to your guns man. At least move us to #3 and be stubborn about it.
When I saw that nobody had Michigan below #2 I immediately searched for Greeder lmao
You know it bothers him a lot and he'll be the last to move us to #1 if AZ slips up.
We will never move Michigan up past #2 this is the ceiling for him
Jeff Rabjohns didn’t double check his work
How is this your job and you completely name the WRONG TEAM into the top 20…..
I wish I could be that bad at my job and not worry about
U say that like his job is to vote in this poll once a week during basketball season and then other than that he doesn’t work.
Right… but it’s still a privileged thing to be able to do on a national stage and he goes and does that blunder…
Yea, he messed up, hopefully he learns to double check his work in the future. The good news is the negative consequences are minimal, the 12 points wouldn’t be enough to push Tech up a spot and even if they were, it’s not a big deal.
Cowards!
Hey, we’re so so close. Never thought I’d see Miami get top 25 votes, so I’ll take it (plus we’re one UCF loss away….)
As an alum that lives an hour away, I’m going next Tuesday for the first time in years. Lets hope they win the next 2 so they are 17-0 going into next week
flair up!
Updated
Yeah I was looking into going to that one or Buffalo on 1/17. I’m about an hour away as well.
We found front row in section 5 for $18… 😂
That’s awesome! Yeah I’m probably going to ask my pops if he wants to go up that Saturday.
Awesome. I want to go to the UMass game on the 17th but I live in the Boston area, so that drive on a Tuesday and then back to the city for work the next day will be brutal.

Sad that Dave Preston moved ISU down to 2. I loved seeing that one ISU logo in the number 1 column every week.
Percy Allen should have his AP voter card revoked.
Miami Redhawks getting votes?
Am I seeing John Johnson have Cal at 19... or am I going crazy?
When I saw Cal in the receiving votes area with more than a couple of points I was excited for them. When I saw that all but one of their points came from one voter... LMAO.
Imagine being Randy Heitz and having Iowa State ranked below Purdue despite the fact that ISU manhandled Purdue at Purdue.
There's no metric that exists that can directly compare two teams who have played each other, so who really knows??
There's got to be a better way!
But that was a game where Purdue was playing at home with all their players available. So when you take that into consideration… um, yeah. Insane
I need to speak with Percy Allen.
I see a whole lot of red block Ms on this list. UCF, I’m kindly asking you to lose so we can experience this whole ‘ranked’ thing for at least one week. We’ll give it back in June.

4 people ranked Seton Hall but not Nova… after we won in Newark a week ago… stupid.
I'll give you one better. There were voters that ranked MIAMI OF OHIO but not Villanova. Actually insane.

You can view all weeks here, for other sports too.

cj moore there is no need to be so petty
Toyloy is being a toy
I wonder if any of the voters who put us ahead of Duke ever thought that would be an actual scenario in their lifetime.
Duke is a Football school, Nebraska is a Basketball school. Many are saying this.
How does Percy Allen still have us unranked lol
Two people have Iowa State above us? Quick, someone check and see if Caleb Love has any eligibility left.
Nebraska over Purdue is definitely a hot take
We finally drop from the rankings. What is this the 2024 baseball poll?
Rank Marquette you cowards!!!!!
/s
We just spanked their weak asses yesterday. Shaka needs to get to that portal and look for the magic because he lost it.
As a razorback fan I’d like to know what’s Percy Allen’s fucking problem?
Dylan Sim thank you for the Nebrasketball respect but Vandy ahead of UConn wtf
His votes make zero sense.
His first week where he didn't place us worst lol
Looks like that one Minnesota voter finally has us in the top 2!
Both of the LSU guys are wankers.
Of course the VT-affiliated voter kicks UVA out of the top 25 for losing at VT in triple OT. 🤣
That says a lot about how he feels about VT lol
Getting all our RV from 1 guy shout out to Dave Borges
Audrey Grover in shambles
Donna knows ball
S/O Pat Rooney
****sigh****
Percy Allen needs his voting rights taken away…
He has to be doing it for attention. There’s zero logic behind having LSU, USC, and Saint Mary’s ranked while Arkansas is unranked.
Dave Borges has been at the bottom (biggest outlier) so much this year. Is it normal for the same guys to always be “that guy?”
It’s usually Dylan Sinn, so it’s nice to see some variety.
Honestly, the way I read his vote... He's higher on a few teams he's seen (UConn played them) + coaches he respects...and he's penalized other teams for coaches he doesn't like as much 😅
It's a weird ballot but I can kinda see the logic.
You’re almost there, Andy. Just embrace #1 Michigan. You know it’s so right even though it feels wrong.
Woo Joe Cook now has us ahead of MSU! (He had us at 10 and MSU at 8 last week, which was wild. even not considering the H2H imo)
I see three believers have us at 6!
Some asshole has Purdue ranked above Iowa State…….i guess he doesn’t watch games
Randy you are drunk.
Having Arizona at 3 is a far greater sin than Michigan at 2 IMO
Holy shit Andy Greder put Michigan at 2.
We have made it.
I mean, go on Percy Allen
Dylan Sinn and DNR dude are villains.
DNR these pathetic rankings next week.
