I grew up in I secular household. My mother only brought me to mass when my grandmother bullied her into it. 2 years ago I started going to Roman Catholic mass. I have always loved the horror genre, and was nearly obsessed with it. I did RCIA and made my first communion last easter. Now I attend a Byzantine Catholic Parish since April. I notice that I turn off horror movies now. I still kinda like them, but am disgusted by really profane ones (the VHS series). Anyone else have a similar experience?

I view horror flicks as entertainment, nothing more. I enjoy watching them. Though, there are some that I do not care for.
Me too! Even violent dramas.. I feel so much more SOFT lol. I used to grow up on horror movies and for some reason, I loved them. My mom would always tell me, stop watching that stuff, you're opening demonic portals! Of course I never listened. But yeah, I just have started to see most movies as staged plays and a bit of a waste of time. Like, why do some people watch them every single day, constantly? It shows how lonely our generation is. I stopped listening to secular music as well. To my boyfriend, I know I seem so so much more boring since when we first started dating because we used to bond over music and sing along to it all the time. But, he also knew that I wanted to continue to grow my relationship with Christ always. No club, no sex, no more weed, no secular music, reading my Bible every day. It's all I crave honestly, to follow God and it makes me feel so happy. I'm boring and I love it 😭 I love always working on the next thing. Right now I'm working on getting rid of food as my God. I got lust out of the way, though, and that was the hugest thing to me. One step at a time!

I've tended to just find them...IDK, mean spirited and tasteless? But I've found that of a lot of modern media since I started taking God more seriously.
Do still like a good classic ghost story, though (my damp little island is very old; we live cheek by jowel with the long memory of our past. Ghosts are a fact of life, and generally harmless).
