• I bought an old vice for $10 at an estate sale and it’s the toughest sumbitch.

This is the way. I've bought two at estate sales, and passed on several more because I don't need them or they are too big (or heavy).

  • At my old job we used to get a specific part made from the company literally right next door. It was a very simple piece constructed of sheet metal, bent and drilled in various ways.

They wanted to cut costs so they started ordering the piece from China, making the company next door go out of business since we were their biggest customer.

Turned out the part from China was of such poor quality and they even had to paint them before shipping to us to hide the flaws. The layer of paint made them too thick for us to use, so we had to source a new company to make the parts, at a much higher cost than the original company next door.
