As per instruction from the TWOV transit process, I am currently selecting a third country for my travels (I am traveling from America). My question is this: can I travel inbound to a third country first, instead of having to worry about that when I'm going back to my country of origin, in order to fulfill China's requirement for the TWOV travel?

For example: USA --> Turkey --> China --> USA

Thank you!

  • Turkey to China to USA is okay for 240 hour twov

Country before and after China are different

  • Third country is A. China is B. USA is C. Doesn’t matter where you live as long as A-B-C

  • Yes. Your country of citizenship can be the country you enter from, the country you exit to, or neither. The two countries just can't be the same.

  • Thanks for your post, Acrobatic-Can-4189! It seems like your post is about a TWOV (Transit Without Visa) Program. This is one of the most frequently asked questions. Please take a look at the following quick references: (1) Wikipedia has great and thorough article on the 240 Hour Transit Program (2) /u/DoubleNo2902 did a great job of providing a guide for the 144 HR TWOV HND > CAN > HKG with a ton of useful information.

  • Yes, it's ok.

The country before and after China must be different. Neither has to be your home country.

  • Often to avoid confusion there's no need to mention USA - Turkey unless asked.
