Totally - I fell hard into the trap of thinking I had to make a 6+ component meal every time I cooked at home, or just eat a pb+j standing up in the kitchen with no in between.
Rice or noodles are the base. Frozen veggies in a sauté pan with a lid on to kind of stem them and release water. Once the veggies look good add xiao zing cooking wine, fish sauce and chili crisp. Reduce a bit and out on top of rice or noodles. It sounds more technical than it is.
This is uber close to my go to as well. Noodles or rice, an onion thinly sliced, bacon, some frozen peas, sesame oil, soy sauce, chili crunch, chicken stock, some shredded chicken, cilantro, green onion. Takes less than 10 minutes from deciding to make it and in the bowl
If you want to make it even quicker, either get shelf stable precook rice or frozen precook rice and that cuts down on the rice cooking time (20ish mins) plus more restaurant like fried rice texture of the rice.
I wonder why not many people use the keep warm function of rice cooker. Cook some extra and the rice stay fresh with this mode on for 2-3 days. Fresh rice anytime. Down side is when you don’t want rice but have to finish the remaining.
I’ve never left it on like this! Good to know. I always make my rice like pasta, bowl it then strain it off and it stays absolutely perfect for reusing. Not clumpy, perfect individual rice grains, my Asian friend taught me how to make it like this so it’s gotta be right, right?
I once had a chef who was pissed the FoH was always complaining about staff meal. Dude made Pb&js for staff. He threw them down saying, "You wanna act like kids, I'll feed you like kids." They crushed it and it was his most requested staff meal after that lol.

Chopped up Johnsonville Beddar Cheddar sausage that’s been microwaved for 1.5 minutes, diced Martin’s Potato Roll, topped with Ketchup, Honey Mustard, Wickles Pickles….it’s my ultimate “IDGAF-it’s late-I’m tired-clopening again” meal for years. I have a few dozen ways to gussy up trader joes food: The vegan paneer with buttered spiced corn and peas. The ravioli with black pepper, parm, and egg sauce. A quick tomato sauce with the gnocchi. The bagged potatoes made super crispy with one of the soups. The sprouted tofu crispy style with green peppers and onion.
Indomie noodles. Some sort of green vegetable. (bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, peppers, whatever I have really). If I don't have any fresh veg I just use a handful of frozen stir fry mix. And if I'm smart I made ajitsuke tomago (Try to do it every week, I'm fuckin lazy.)
If no prepped eggs I just stir a whisked egg into the noodles. Maybe tofu for protein of I don't have eggs.
That's my low effort thing that's still a good meal, relatively balanced.
Otherwise I just eat some microwave instant pho in a cardboard bowl and half a bag of chips. Occasionally taco bell. Lmao.

I've been meal prepping bean burritos. Just rice, beans, and cheese. Either microwave them, or throw them in the oven for a bit while I shower and whatnot
Place one or two slices of whole wheat bread on a small well-seasoned pizza pan and under broiler
Finely chop enough broccoli to cover bread
Remove toasting bread from broiler before it burns
Flip bread over and cover with broccoli
Drizzle broccoli with olive oil, enough garlic granules and slices of cheese (cheddar, gruyere, whatever)
Place back under broiler but low down so it takes a while for the broccoli to steam under the melting cheese (or just bake if you're using a little toaster oven)
Remove and let cool a little so you don't burn the roof of your mouth
3 minute pizza from the microwave or a bowl of tonkotsu ramen with sliced pork hotdogs and some Sriracha. Basically anything I can heat and eat in less than 5 minute.
Yup. Freezer always has a stack of 3 minute pizzas from smiths and a cabinet full of various ramen. The fridge usually has some sausages and hotdogs for me to slice up and add to the ramen.
Quesadilla. I keep diced veggies around, we make white people tacos pretty frequently. Sauté veg, heat cheese. Method is in my post history I make it while high pretty frequently and I posted about it once. It’s dope as hell.
Sautee a diced sausage for a minute to render some fat, add a large can of black beans and about a third of a jar of salsa. Stir & cook until beans reach desired consistency. Serve in a tortilla.
Chicken and broccoli with oyster sauce over white rice. Broccoli can go in the steam insert in the rice cooker or the pan with the chicken. You can add other stuff or dredge the chicken but it’s great with 4 ingredients
Protein shake with fruit….cheap protein powder from Costco, banana, pineapple and some sort of frozen berries, milk & blend. I usually down some vitamins while I’m drinking it. Start to finish, takes about 3 minutes.
i live on protein shakes. one scoop of protein, banana, 2 scoops of oats, peanut butter and other fruit if you want it. simple, healthy, quick, keeps you going without feeling full. I've have one every day for years. Its not cheap though, the protein powder is now up to like 18 dollars a pound, and you can't cheap out on it or it will fuck your stomach up
I will literally just dice up some potatoes, cover lightly with oil and salt, land cook in air fryer for 20 mins. Add ketchup and boom, solid and filling ‘meal’. Costs like 50 cents.
Mac and cheese. Sometimes even just the microwavable cups. Mixed with peas and tuna. If I have some leftover cooekd bacon to chop up and toss in that’s a bonus.
The rotesserie chicken from Costco. Buy 2 each week. They can be turned into so much like sandwiches, salads, quick pastas, tacos/quesadillas, or just as is with some frozen veg quickly reheated.

Just place the frozen rice in a pot with some water or broth, add your desired toppings (my go to is canned tuna, finely chopped carrots, wakame and spring onions), boil, and you have a warm, comforting meal in under 15 minutes.
Handheld meatpies with fried eggs, ham, cheese, mayo, mustard as the extra fillings. 2 of those bad boys = atleast 400-500 kcal each, time it takes to make them is the time it takes to fry the eggs. If you wanna get bougie with them, toast them on the pan after microwaving and cutting open to crisp up the exterior a bit. Has saved many a nights where i've just wanted to crawl into bed ASAP

Pyttipanna is my go to, there are some great frozen ones you can buy here, but it's not hard to make from scratch. One knife, one chopping board and a frying pan is all you need so not a lot to clean up either.
I just roll with a mix and match handful each of: berries and/or grapes, cheese (typically cheddar, but occasionally Gouda/Mozzarella/Brie), pepperoni, black olives, carrots, craisins, apple/orange slices, goldfish, peanut butter crackers.
Box mashed potatoes, with extra milk/chicken broth to make it a soup, and either peas/corn/green beans or cheese/bacon/sour cream/chives.
I was recently introduced to those crustables that are these frozen pb&j sandwiches you buy in the frozen isle. Let them thaw or in my case nuke them for like 30 seconds. Eat with a fork— chefs kiss!
There's always the easy grilled cheese/tom soup combo. A BLT or quesadilla with whatever I have around (ham and cheese, refried beans, leftovers) However, lately I will put rice in the the rice cooker, saute a bag of broccoli slaw from the store, then pan fry/ steam some frozen dumplings (wontons, qyoza, etc.) or a quick bacon fried rice.

on your day off..buy 1-2 bags of Costco roast chickens. shred the chickens and freeze them into ice cube molds. remove from molds and put in bags..

Pyttipanna is my go to, there are some great frozen ones you can buy here, but it's not hard to make from scratch. One knife, one chopping board and a frying pan is all you need so not a lot to clean up either.
From work: Grilled cheese made with sourdough garlic bread.
At home: Dumplings from Costco.

I just roll with a mix and match handful each of: berries and/or grapes, cheese (typically cheddar, but occasionally Gouda/Mozzarella/Brie), pepperoni, black olives, carrots, craisins, apple/orange slices, goldfish, peanut butter crackers.
Box mashed potatoes, with extra milk/chicken broth to make it a soup, and either peas/corn/green beans or cheese/bacon/sour cream/chives.

I was recently introduced to those crustables that are these frozen pb&j sandwiches you buy in the frozen isle. Let them thaw or in my case nuke them for like 30 seconds. Eat with a fork— chefs kiss!

I really like ground meat with peppers over rice with a side of an easy veg.
Rice and egg or tuna
Toast with butter and cheese. Fruit if we have it.
Roast potatoes with a mixed salad. Extended version: Plus egg(s) plus meat (steak or burger patty).
Lunchmeat sandwich, hot dogs or easy noodles of any kind.

prep a range of pasta sauces or curries in meal portions in advance and freeze - ready to go anytime - or mixed steamed dumplings from the freezer

There's always the easy grilled cheese/tom soup combo. A BLT or quesadilla with whatever I have around (ham and cheese, refried beans, leftovers) However, lately I will put rice in the the rice cooker, saute a bag of broccoli slaw from the store, then pan fry/ steam some frozen dumplings (wontons, qyoza, etc.) or a quick bacon fried rice.
Honestly I’ve been making a dish I haven’t seen anywhere but basically it’s braised omelette over any carb that’s reheatable lol sometimes I’ll just eat it with white bread

Sometimes I like to do Top Ramen Chicken Flavor, finish with 2-3 slices of American Cheese, and cut up hot dogs too.
