Hey all, I'm looking for urgent care clinic recommendations in Charlotte. I have a condition that flares up from time to time so I end up needing urgent care pretty often. I’ve tried Atrium and Novant but honestly I'm not very pleased with them. Appreciate any suggestions

  • I think your experience will vary with the location and provider working that day. Try a different one that is still in-network for you.

  • I’d highly recommend First Care Medical Clinic. Been there a couple times for non ER issues and it’s been the most reliable urgent care in Charlotte for me, shorter waits and the staff is amazing too. Way better than the other options we have here

  • AFC urgent care is really great. Been there several times and love going there.

  • I love the one at Park Road and Selwyn...you can put yourself in line online and then go from there!

  • Navigating the healthcare system can be difficult and frustrating for sure.

It sounds like a chronic condition that occasionally flares? Your best first step may be talking to a good primary care provider who is familiar with this condition and can prescribe medications that you can start as needed for flares or otherwise treat you for occasional flares rather than starting all over with a new urgent care provider each time you experience a flare.

Being displeased with Atrium and Novant urgent care makes me wonder if urgent care is the best option for this condition.

Depending on the condition you can also consider if a service that provides house calls may better serve your needs. Mine is called Sick Care for example, but there are other models that may be worth looking into as they provide a slightly different capability set which may or may not better fit your needs.

Free standing ERs often have more resources available than urgent care or house call services and tend to be faster than larger ERs, but typically slower than urgent care or house call services and may or may not be at much higher cost depending on your insurance/financial situation.

I hope it helps and that you feel better soon!

  • I honestly can’t recommend First Care Medical Clinic enough.

My aunt lives in Charlotte and hasn’t driven since a really bad car accident a few years ago. She’s older, doesn’t do well with apps/tech, and getting to appointments was always stressful for since her accident.

First Care literally arranges transportation to and from their clinics, which has been a massive relief for her and the rest of our family. It’s one of those things you don’t realize matters until you really need it.

They also accept Medicaid/Medicare, which is HUGE because a lot of places here don’t. Legitimately a lifesaver.
