This guy has been banging his drums for 15+ hours this weekend. Cant catch a break with this guy. Friday, saturday, Sunday night for 4-5+ hours a night until as late as 11pm. What is the deal with this.
EDIT:
The city has actually reached out to me and said they are going to take some action, so kudos to the city council member who contact me. I believe it was Ed Driggs to give him credit.
pa-rum, pum-pum, pum
He’s bad, but the guy playing bass (or his bass playing if it’s the same guy) is so much worse. He plays the most basic progressions along to Spotify - not even premium so it goes to ads every two minutes - and he’s constantly off beat even doing that. I mean props for not just standing in a median begging, but goddamn dude this isn’t the place to practice as an obvious absolute beginner.
Same guy but on a full blown drum set right across the street from apartment complexes, same beat over and over and over for 6 hours straight night after night
Maybe he lives in an apartment and doesnt want to disturb his below floor neighbors so he plays outside so he can disturb everyone equally.
This guy kills me and my girlfriend. The bare minimum is keeping rhythm.
Oh my gosh the comment about Spotify and the ads is killing me. That is so fucking funny!! I mean...I'm sorry for you...but the visual is hilarious.
Sometimes he plays along with the ads
It’s beyond annoying, it’s unbearable.
There a police truck here and they’re currently loading his drums into the back of a police truck.
I really wish nothing bad on the guy but he makes life in uptown miserable.
I don't have hard feelings towards the guy other than I can't stand this anymore, he needs to find another way to make money that doens't involve disturbing the peace and quiet of potentially 1000's of people all holiday season
Wonder if they’ll ever enforce it against the “Jesus saves” guy who would yell up and down the street at all hours
Although I understand why that guy is unpopular there are several key differences. Mainly:
He’s not asking for money He’s not using a drum set He generally isn’t in a residential area
And they say Charlotte doesn't have culture
Culture 🤣🤣
Jesus saaaaves
He loves ya folks!
Yeah its a little annoying but its nothing in comparison to hours of drumming non stop
You misspelled "Kahlina"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Being forced in the office more to hear this guy bang a trash can all day is really quite awful.
Try living near where this guy plays and its the guy with a full blown drum set directly across the street from residential buildings 6 hours straight
The other guy was here 4 days in a row a few days ago its ridiculous
Yup. What sane person would want to live near that? Lol
Yup
Sounds awful, sorry.
Yeah I'll be probably working on breaking my lease over this but its mind blowing
Uptown is essentially lawless when it comes to the annoying quality of life crimes.
You and your neighbors need to call the police about it relentlessly. 50-50 on whether it works.
Pretty crazy
It is. The city should care more about preserving uptown’s tax base but they just don’t.
I find it mind blowing that they dont care about preserving the peace of the residents, there's quiet a lot of units within several blocks here.
I’m gonna guess (hope) that this guy is done.
The police talked to him earlier in the year and he switched from the drums to guitar for a while, which was much less annoying.
He came back with the drums like a week and a half ago and tonight the police loaded his drums into the back of a police truck at the end of the night.
theres a good crowd at the stadium tonight and nobody out there
And if he comes back, whoops, my keys fell and punctured your drum skins. Damn, anyway...
Another avenue to pursue is trying to get your landlord into it. Send them a complaint, then leave a few bad reviews citing the drum set guy on a few different platforms.
Based on this post, it would seem not.
It's a bunch of people making tons of money to cater to the people who are annoying you. Why on earth would you think they would act any differently?
Also all traffic crimes. And many violent crimes. Other than that, we’re doing great.
Playing the drums loud is not crime lol
Noise ordinances and busking laws exist.
Of course, but they’re not criminals. This is the type of nonsense that’s polarizing the country right now.
People like you hand waving away legitimate complaints about people breaking the law is what’s polarizing people.
Like it’s real easy to say it doesn’t matter when they’re not outside my window banging on a drum set at midnight. But if they were, I’d be pretty irritated and want something to change.
Meanwhile, we have people like you who are all too eager to cherry pick which laws matter and which ones don’t, and enforce them extremely selectively, which helps no one.
Is it as serious as murder? Of course not. Should it still be enforced? Of course.
Is he the same guy that drum all night in front of the stadium?
Yes exactly
You need to buy a giant powered Bluetooth speaker and play a metronome recording out your window back at him.

You missed one thing:
“Okay, just F you all.
Oh, and Merry Christmas!”
You're in an apartment where you can't hear your neighbors?? Which ones are those?
Nobody told you to live there. Time for you to move
There’s probably 500 apartments being disturbed by this. We all need to move so he can play the drums on the sidewalk?
[deleted]
Respect you for taking the high road on this.
Yeah we all understand that it comes with city living. But there is a point where people need to care about noise pollution and that it is just rude to blast music or drive louder vehicles. The bar to be kind to others is really low and people still go out of their way to be annoying.
is that you, lil drummer boy?
We need a group of people to stand next to him with signs protesting him
That or liquid ass
honestly I love it
no Joke I bought one of those horns you use at sporting events to do this, the city council and code enforcement both reached out to me and said they understand and are going to take some action
Find out where they live and let's all have a concert when they fall asleep.
CLT made the guy stop drumming so he started giving out handies to keep his rhythm up.
This is the stuff I have no patience for. Do not fuck with my sleep.
Is this the guy outside Truist Field? Agree. STFU already.
Yes absolutely
Uptown/Downtown/All-around Charlotte has rotted and decayed since 2020/covid. Are these guys as good as the uspide down 5 gallon bucket drumsets guys in Manhattan? Haha.
lol I was going to say the drummer boys in Chicago are cultural mainstays at this point. It’s annoying as hell and such a noise nuisance but they stay doing it.

I guess it worked. Lol
smh
I live above Medusa…Fuck Medusa
What even is that place? Theres a weird beer bar there too.
It's Charlotte's most ratchet "lounge", complete with "bottle service" and fake weed hookahs. The customers leave a trail of litter and broken glass all along the street where they park. Fuck them!
Gross. This is why I moved out of the center of NoDa. Now the ratchetness is creeping into Villa Heights.

This comment section made my day lmao
he's begging for money playing the drums? or hes just a hippie ?
full drum set directly across the street from our apartment building, hes doing it for money
You live in uptown in a large city. Get over it
Ridiculous logic here. There are large cities around the world that are fairly quiet and provide a great quality of life for their residents.
This thread is just old people complaining about a city being a city…
I love this guy I usually give him a 20 and tell him to keep up the good work
Only undesirables reside in Uptown these days..I suggest you move.
Never lived in a city before?
Part of living in a dense area means showing respect to others around you and respecting peace and quiet.
Every city in every developed nation around the world has noise ordinances and enforcement. It really sounds like you’re the one that’s never lived in a city.
What city has people playing a drum set in front of a residential building every night for 5-6 hours?
Ive lived in cities all over the country and I have yet to see this.
Maybe LA? But LA SUCKS
Oh my god, there’s real crime going on, wasting police resources so pack up drums…be serious dude. You’re not a tree, you can move.
TIP HIM. He's doing the lord's work playing tunes for you
OP probably made this post in hopes the drummer would see it and get the picture, have you even made an attempt at contact? Jokes on you, if you don't say anything to them in person they won't know it's bothering you to the point of complaining about it on the internet! Who knew.
Plenty of people, including the police have talked to this guy
This is Charlotte, get over it.
What does this mean?
Charlotte is known as the drumming capital of the world, get over it.
Right, so musicians are supposed to completely move into rural areas, adjust their commute to work and realign their life priorities to accommodate people who have never heard of earplugs/community tolerance?
This guy is hardly a musician.
Regardless, all of us should have a basic level of respect to their neighbors. I shouldn’t have to live with ear buds in my own house, what kind of logic is that?
"Musician"
(and I say that as someone who's been playing the Alto Sax for 3 decades)
They are supposed to have their own space and not disturb the peace
He is playing drums in his home? OP is at work when this is happening, it's not disturbing his sleep. It's no less disturbing the peace than a guy busking at the Epicentre.
He’s playing on the street. Sidewalk. Whatever.
He’s homeless probably, so honestly fair point I guess that the sidewalk is his “home”
I'm looking for a drummer...
Not sure who if the same person but the black dude who is always singing at the corner has a killer voice and is a cool dude!
