I was so impressed the cinephiles in this city. I went to a screening of Barry Lyndon last night at the IPH. I was expecting it to be me and a couple other film nerds. I was surprised that it was just about a packed house. A lot of young people too! It's pretty cool to see that there are people who enjoy seeing movies in the theater. Even 3 hour long movies about British aristocrats.
IPH is great
The jazz / cocktail bar next door is dope too.
Hey, I was there as well! Loved to see the place packed for Barry Lyndon.
Are there any local movie clubs/meetups?
VisArt does a lot of events
Thanks for the recommendation!
What’s your Letterboxd?
dkattir1. Yours?
Seeing movies at the IPH fucking rules. Everyone is so excited to be there, phones away, everyone having a great time.
Going to go see it this week! If any of y’all are interested in experimental film, three of my friends put together this series at Goodyear Arts. https://goodyeararts.com/wavelengths/
Oh damn, I can’t believe I missed this. In terms of Kubrick, ‘tis the Fidelio season. Anyone know of anywhere playing Eyes Wide Shut?
I’ve not seen anything remotely local. Though, Criterion just released their 4K, so maybe something “off the record.”
I’m new to Mooresville and IPH is one of the absolute coolest things I’ve done in Charlotte so far!
Cinephiles in Charlotte- no way.. never happen.. town with no identity- plain vanilla ice cream
