I believe that the list below includes all of the malls in Charlotte that closed. Are there others?
Charlottetown Mall/Outlet Square
Cotswold Mall
Eastland Mall Freedom Mall
Hamricks mall near Carowinds (unsure of the name)
Northpark Mall
Tryon Mall
Tyvola Mall
Westpark Mall
From my visits to them (to all of them except Tyvola and Westpark), all except Eastland were small neighborhood malls and Eastland went to pot by 2000.
Any other memories?
Freedom Mall on Freedom drive. It’s now a county building. I was in there on 9/11. I was wondering why everyone was gathering around the Time Warner store. I walked up and saw why.
Plaza Fiesta Mall (originally: Outlet Marketplace), across the state line in Fort Mill. Razed for Cabelas, which is now Bass Pro Shops.
I think it used to be waccamaw pottery
It was Carolina Pottery.
Maybe after it was Waccamaw. I remember it being called waccamaw in the early 90s
Yes, they had that wild indoor playground.
This place was so lit as a kid
I remember going up to the very top and barely being able to breathe it was so humid and hot up there and 0 airflow
I used to grab lunch there. I miss the ham and cheese pita one place had. I saw the saddest Santa there one year. He was sitting ringing a bell, while all the kids played on the playground and ignored him. They might have already visited, but it still seemed sad.
Does Overstreet Mall uptown count?
It’s still open…right? Now anchored by Chick-fil-A instead of Belk and Ivey’s. I forgot CityFair though.
Wasn’t there one where the Tyvola Costco is now? Or was that just a strip mall?
That was Westpark Mall. The road into it is still called Westpark Drive.
Cotswold is still there, is it not?
Yes but it used to be an enclosed mall.
Part of it was; I grew up with it. (Shout-out to Whistle Stop Hobby Shop and Toy Castle! Mr. Cox at the barber shop, Ernie's Records, Bush Stationers, The Tweed Shop for mom, Eckerd's, Ivey's, Olan Mills, A&P... where my peeps at?)
Isn't part of it still enclosed?
No, it was an indoor mall (RIP Spoons). Now it is a strip mall.

A little of it was. I remember it very well.
Partially enclosed. Spent a lot of time there as a kid. We also figured out how to get on the roof.
Well Northlake Mall is now a flea market, does that count?
It’s still open
Interesting person's blog who was visiting Charlotte (I think) and did a write up on Tryon Mall/Asian Corner mall.
I went in there one time maybe a decade ago because I heard the Bahn Mi shop was good. It was strange the court area was so hot and so empty, but the two or three shops inside indeed still operated. Amazing how the venture lasted for about 20 years, I'm glad the owners got to get a payout in the end.

Yes, Tryon Mall
