One Thing that always interested me in jojo's were the Cases of Stands with Personality and even Decision Making and self preservation, it added a whole new complexity when Stands had a Set Personality and it was just really fun all around to see them doing something separate from their User, i will list over some of the ones i find really interesting and i think Araki should make at least one Stand like them again, after the new Universe almost every Stand acts like just a Power, which to be fair happened also but we at least we had a balance of 2-3 special Cases compared to the 1-2 in both Part 7 and 8.
Part 3 - Star Platinum While Jotaro is a Really Quiet and Serious Guy, sometimes Star Platinum can show himself as the Outlet to his Personality and Feelings, Like when he Smiles from ear to ear when Throwing Iggy at the Blind Guy or some other times before Beating the Living Shit out of Alessi and Others, also when he would go out of it's effective range and randomly get entertainment for Jotaro in Jail(Manga, Beer, Radio and even a remote control Car), also when he makes Jotaro Heart beat again after he stops it, which could be argueed was Jotaro himself but after the fact that he effectively dead i like to think otherwise(also it's cooler that way)
Part 4 - Stray Cat This one is a Interesting Case, the Only time we have seen where a Stand User comes Back as it's Stand, the fact that he also is a Animal and acts on self Preservation made a cool dynamic where he was a ally or enemy to kind of everyone but depending if they were threatening him or not, it made sense for why Kira would Use it, since aside from his Father there was no one he could use to aid him, Stray Cat was also Later adopted by Okuyasu and it would be interesting if we someday get a One Shot or something involving them, since the Stray Cat is particularly a Angry Fellow and Okuyasu a Really stupid one, i can imagine he would get pissed off frequently and attack him.
Part 5 - Sex Pistols The Most Famous one i imagine, the Fact that each Bullet has their own Personality adds a whole lot of moments that would not be possible if they didn't have one, honestly that would kind of remove half of this Part funny Moments.
Number 1 acts as a Leader and looks more Joyful, 2 is Close to 1 and they sometimes emote together , 3 is more Mean and bullies 5, 5 is a Crybaby but he is generally the Last Hope sometimes since Mista almost never shoots him so he acts as a Support and Commentary, 6 is the More fearsome one and 7 does not have a Defined Personality but he was seen one time imitating a Bull Rider when riding a Bullet.
To be Honest while 5 is the Most used one, it was cool seeing a Stand Having Dynamic with other Stand(even tho it's kind of himself)they also demonstrated things we never seen Stands do Before, like talking with Other people independently, having Quirks outside of the User and even Eating and Naping, things that Mista even Asked to Giorno if he never did.
Aside from those, we also have a Lot of Other Examples, like Silver Chariot despite being quiet he always has eyes that showcase his emotions and feelings at moments, or when he became Requiem and started to defend the Arrow to follow it's user Last Wish.
Or Weather Report saving Weather from his suicide attempts, showing some self preservation and autonomy against it's user desires, and even Dragon's Dream for helping both it's user and it's enemy and instructing both of them so it could be a fair fight, even FF being both a Stand and a Living Being Hybrid and developing a sense of self, Early Jojo had so many things Araki was experimenting with the Stands, varying in Type, Conscience and etc, but after Part 6 i felt like while he amped up the uniqueness and complexity of Stand and Combat, he got rid a bit of the Charm that Early Jojo had, Stands acted as another entity sometimes, and where crucial to some moments, meanwhile in Part 8 we had a Bunch of Remote controlled stands, that didn't have any thought or Personality and instead were just puzzles that Gappy or other had to solve and the User was almost never involved and was just walking away 90% of the time until Gappy solved the Ability and Beat the Living Shit of the User, which could be interesting if Araki at least added something more to these, Maybe a Stand giving the Wrong Clues to his ability to Gappy and he having to use some outside help, so many scenarios but i guess Araki struggled during this part since the Anime release, which is understandable.
I have read the Beginning of Part 9, while there's still some issues(All Stands are either just Abilities or Robots) I'm at least glad we have a bit more, full physical Fights are Back, more muscular body Types and even Simple Stand Abilities with Interesting Uses(Like November Rain using it's weighted Rain, and that goddamn tread)at this Point i got my hopes back and think Araki will do a Good Part and get some of his old Charm Back, hope that he explores the Stands this time directly and makes them showcase some personality aside from repeating their Cries.(Also Sorry about not Mentioning Hey Ya or Pasley Park, this Post is Lenghty as HellðŸ˜)
To be honest, in regards to Part 8, I'm still not sure how much of the main villain was Tooru and how much was Wonder of U, the latter kinda felt more of a character than Tooru himself (and given it briefly attempted to come back, it might truly be its own guy). WoU, Whitesnake and King Crimson are kinda my favorites in terms of "stands with a character" among main antagonists. King Crimson, at least in anime, speaks for Diavolo most of the time before his appearance reveal and represents his soul during the soul shuffle, so it kinda feels like he IS King Crimson.
And while I'm at it, in context it makes sense that a good number of enemy stands in Part 8 are robotic, remote and with very little characterization because of the whole "rock human" thing.
For what we know Wonder of U probably was a sentient Stand, because it kind of is a Natural force outside of Tooru, also because of that you reminded me of Milagro man and how he kind of Foreshadowed the Whole Calamity Thing, but with excessive Luck
These Three really are special, what just bothers me is that they follow the structure of Being their own character while the Villain is in the shadows, but after he comes out, they just act as a normal stand, which to be fair they kind of are but because of how they are presented(in that the Users use them to Talk and Appear in Places), but i like the theory that it was never Doppio and Diavolo, it was Doppio and King Crimsom, but when Kind Crimsom takes control of Doppio it becomes Diavolo, a Stand Posessing it's user sounds a cool idea(without Killing him like Cheap Trick, but acting as a Parasite)
I think Rock Humans having Robotic stands could make sense, but unfortunately it's not the case since the Protagonists, Higashikatas and pretty much almost everyone has Robotic looking Stands, also brothers me how there are just 3 Stands in the Whole part with Mouths(excluding Born this way w/o helmet), all 3 of them with Mechanical bodies, and every other has either two big eyes, no face or are Just abilties.
I think it was ok for that Part, but that Motif was the same in Part 7 and now in part 9 too, i miss the More Humanoid and Creature Stands, and even when the Stands were not sentient they would have a bit more character, the Sounds, Face and even some Movement was kind of Unique, and they worked as a extension of the User, but now i just kind either Disassociate the User to the Stand or the Stand just looks likes something the User can do, Part 7 still had a Balance in some cases but there was a lot of Ability Stands, Part 9 for now just has Mechanical Stands aside from one(until what i read) so I don't think it will change unfortunately.
I'm pretty sure Whitesnake had some interactions with characters after Pucci reveal, with two being drastically different in personalities. The saddest part was how Whitesnake kept losing individuality upon evolving, until Made in Heaven was just there. Though C-MOON and Pucci are a curious case, since they do have distinct different personalities AND Pucci had actual direct conversation with it, guiding it to me more careful and methodical in fighting Jolyne.
You sure do get me about King Crimson. I watched JoJo mostly blind and thought that was the twist, that Diavolo and King Crimson are literally the same and not just "stand representing a soul" because of how KC was always used to represent Diavolo even when he was right there. I always think to myself that because of his ambiguously supernatural origins... nothing says he ISN'T King Crimson? Would actually make his disproportionately brutal defeat a bit easier to swallow, but I digress a bit.
I think Part 7 had some fun variety of stands at times, between Tusk, so far as I remember, being kinda emotive, Diego's dinos being dinos and stands, in general, being a wield variety of objects and phenomena like Hot Pants' aerosol stand and Ringo's Mandom watches, plus a more traditional body-stand like D4C thrown every once in a while. Plus it felt novel there. Part 8 fell a bit flat aesthetically because most stands were robotic, outside of few odd (and fun) ones like Doctor Wu or Paisley Park. Higashikatas really should've got a few organic ones. I'll be reading Part 9 after it's finished, so I can't say anything about that yet.
Nothing can compare with Echoes ACT3, though, in terms of being "a stand with personality" (without possessing/killing their user like Cheap Trick. Honestly, I can see why Cheap Trick got adapted as a yokai in Rohan live-action TV series)
