Sorry, photo 10 is what now?
Use them to rear these among others. One of the most valuable native host trees for butterflies/moths.

It's my forest of potted arroyo willows. Mix of 3 and 5 gal pots.
That's an awesome idea! They bring in the butterfly's and moths i bet?! Want one but understand they have aggressive roots and I dont have a big enough yard... Here you have solved that problem great idea 💡 👍
Yes, great for butterflies and moths - western tiger swallowtail (Papilio rutulus), western eyed sphinx (Smerinthus ophthalmica), Lorquin's admiral (Limenitis lorquini), mourning cloak (Nymphalis antiopa), the list goes on....
It is true that they are large and aggressive trees, so potted plants were my only solution. They are extremely easy to grow from cuttings, just stick them directly into the pot around February/March. They'll get to the size in the photo (4-5 ft) by mid summer. Chop them to the ground and they grow back completely, sometimes within the same season.
So awesome thanks for the info! I need to get some pots now lol
Are you sure you have enough Salix? 🤔
