i had a small, about one year old, encelia farinosa in my yard. but i had to do some intense plumbing work, and it unfortunately got flattened and had pounds of dirt thrown on top of it.

this plant popped up nearly exactly where my encelia farinosa was. is this an encelia farinosa??? i have a ton of encelia californica so i’m not too bummed if it’s not and i’ll just yank it. please and thanks in advance!

  • Yep, definitely Encelia from that venation. Could be species, they hybridize as well. But I think it's too fuzzy to be straight E californica. Certainly could have come from the root stock, they are pretty resilient. Fwiw they are easy to transplant as well.

awesome, thank you! i have tons of volunteer e. californica that i’m going to try and transplant 🤞🏼
