Lads, quick question lads, if I don’t start this post with lads, does anyone even see it? Beginning to think it’s the secret activation phrase for this sub.

    Here it is....

The only thing up there with "Ah Lads..." is people who make their obsession with "The Yanks" a personality trait.

    parent root
    3 points aplacecalledvertigo

100% nothing annoys me more than when you hear another Irish person moaning about “the yanks thinking they’re Irish” … like what a weird mindset

    parent
  • 1 points RuggerJibberJabber

I think "lad" hit it's peak in the late 00's and early 10's when the lad bible was really popular.

It was a time when people would just repeat the word back and forth at varying volumes and lengths kind of like that "wazzup" Budweiser ad. They were simpler, and better times.

P.S. out of curiosity I looked up that old website and it is now a completely different thing. It used to be more like the madlad subreddit, but with just text and people would type out their own stories/jokes, rather than sharing news stories and memes.

  • -13 points wrex1816

People who write like they talk are an instant downvote for me. Nobody should hear an accent through a text comment. And the major of people are just putting it on anyway as if it's some sort of sign of Irishness.... It's not.
