Hi, i just filled my tax returns yesterday and they sent me statement of liability. In the panel 'Final result' it shows underpayment of 0.03, on the exact spot last year it says over payment 999,95. Does that mean i get no rent tax relief this year?
I swear ive been paying over 3-400 in taxes a month every month and they're saying im not due the relief now? I would call them but its late in the night, perhaps anyone can provide some insight?
Did you get it already during the year through your tax credits?
You probably have to fill in the rent relief part
Are you sure you didn’t have it as a credit for 2025?
Did you apply for rent relief? You have to apply each year for it
When did you apply for rent relief? If you did it before then end of the year then the tax credits are assigned throughout the year so you get it with every pay date.
Did you do your return?
If you want to redact your personal info and send me the rest of it privately I’ll be able to tell you why?
Put all your information into this tax calculator and see does it give you a different answer.
First off, did you pay any PAYE last year? If not, there's nothing to refund.
Assuming you did pay PAYE, turn to page 2 of the statement of liability. It will show you how much PAYE you paid for the year and what tax credits were assigned to the statement in calculating the result of the tax return you filed. Is the rent tax credit there on page 2?
Is the rent tax credit listed on your statement of liability? If not, did you claim it? I think you have to claim it each year, it doesn't stay.
Am willing to bet op already has the rent tax credit included in his payslip.
You need to fill out the tax back stuff. Revenue will give an estimate on what they think based on tax that you've paid but you need to do the rest yourself.
If you claimed 2025 last year then you've gotten paid that already, via tax credits for 2025.
