Seen these 'new' jaffa cakes today. They were in the reduced basket at the till. Save yourself the bother...they are terrible. Sugar galore, honey, an inferior "chocolate coating" on a dry base. Even at 50 cents...ya can keep them. Binned.
I feel like the whole purpose of hot honey is to add spicy sweetness to something savoury. Like pizza, meats, etc. These just seem like an abomination trying to capitalise on a fad.
I got them. Very weird but I didn’t mind them. Nothing can compare to the Wicked Fizzifying Lemonade popcorn, honestly the worst thing I’ve ever tasted and I buy all the weird shit
Doritos but like with a sweet kind of gingerbread flavor, artificial as all fuck and the texture of the corn chips with it was weird at first but I kind of liked it
I bought them hoping to like them but I hate them. They taste like normal jaffa cakes where the orange is gone off. It's not really hot or spicy or anything just a long pungent aftertaste caused by the "spice" not the honey. You cannot really taste the honey, which makes sense because the shortcake and chocolate have sugar in them too. Overall, they are like a gone off or earthier flavoured jaffa cake.
We need a word for when a big company observes a trend and tries to capitalize on it but because they're so big it takes them way too long to develop the product and it finally releases with a bit of a whimper because the craze has ended
You see this all the time in Hollywood injecting slang into movies that come out well after the term has fallen out of fashion
I was wondering about these. I tried the Yuzu Lemon flavour (https://www.tesco.ie/groceries/en-IE/products/321766138), and they were... grand? Like they were fine, not terrible, but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to get them again.
Agree. Couldn't even eat a full one and I consider an entire pack of Jaffa Cakes to be a single serving. No problem with store brand alternatives but the full pack of these went in the bin. Revolting.
My hairdresser told me about that hot honey months ago.
Much like salted caramel or dubai chocolate, I've never seen anyone actually eat the shit.
I'd also be very surprised if most of these used any actual honey. Honey is one of the most scammed foods, be careful with it. They love to lie about what you're buying.
She was spot on. You can see by the replies you are not missing out on these at all. Scammed Honey? I've not heard of it before. Like they are using a honey substitute?
Yeah, it's exactly that - most non Eu honey is a substitute. Look on the back of your honey, if its labelled as "Eu and non-eu original" or "non- eu origin" there's a high chance its just not honey.
I believe China is having some issue with it, I saw a report a few months ago about huge fraud in the indistry [China being the largest exporter of honey]
Similar to how basically no vanilla or most wasabi is not what they claim, they're almost all substitutes trying to hide it.
If I recall...I am sure that the honey from Supervalu did have that label on it. It was dirt cheap too. Probably cause it was dirt in the bottle and not real. You know, I never knew about the vanilla thing either. I did read something about olive oil never or rarely being actual real "extra virgin" and again some weird concoction and substitute. Well thank you for that, I'll be more mindful of the honey i do source.
Hot honey is the new Salted Caramel.
Which was the old ‘Thai sweet chilli’
We've had biscoff and pistachio trends in between the salted caramel craze.
Tbf salted caramel is unreal, never understood the hype with hot honey
Been saying that myself for the last while, it really does seem to be.
Thought it was …. Dubai these days?
Yes, they're unhealthy foods repackaged in an attempt to make people overlook the fact that they're unhealthy?
Why is hot honey so nice? Because it's pure sugar.
Why is salted caramel so nice? Because it's sugar mixed with salt
did anybody think salted caramel wasn't unhealthy?
Wtf, I’ve been putting it on everything!
*sugar and fat mixed with salt.
And there I thought salt and caramel was a healthy treat.
No shit
It’s so hot right now

Also lovely to glaze a Ham with. But drizzled over a pepperoni pizza is S teir.
Seen gingerbread Doritos reduced to 15p in tescos, just because we can doesn't mean we should
Lesson learned! I'll remember that saying.
You crazy son of a bitch, you did it.
..I'm still tempted
I got them. Very weird but I didn’t mind them. Nothing can compare to the Wicked Fizzifying Lemonade popcorn, honestly the worst thing I’ve ever tasted and I buy all the weird shit
Might give em a go cheers. Lemonade and popcorn sound wrong just in the same sentence.
I actually really liked those
What were they like?
Doritos but like with a sweet kind of gingerbread flavor, artificial as all fuck and the texture of the corn chips with it was weird at first but I kind of liked it
It's far from hot honey you were reared. Notions!
The yuzu ones are nicer, if you fancy trying a weird jaffa cake flavour.
I saw the hot honey ones and the yuzu ones a few weeks back, skipped the hot honey and got 2 packets of the Yuzu, Savage altogether.
We just bought another one today 🤣
We just want cherry. Nothing else necessary.
[deleted]
Thought they were awful. Orange zest + cola flavour is not a good combo for me.
I agree! Haven't tried the hot honey but yuzu we're decent.
Cherry was nice too but a lot sweeter imo than regular.
These always had me intrigued, however, never brought myself to buy them...thanks for the review!
The yuzu ones are worth buying, to me better than the original flavour, didn’t really like the other two
What’s next spice bag viscounts
Horrible aftertaste on these
They were in the reduced bin for a reason.
Yes. As someone said "Just because we can, doesn't mean we should"
Exactly my impression after I bought a pack to try them a few weeks ago. I found them disgusting 😂
This is the type of content I’m here for 👌
Damn I was hoping they were nice.
I thought they were lovely, but don't tell anyone. I don't think it'll go down well in this thread
What do they taste like?
I bought them hoping to like them but I hate them. They taste like normal jaffa cakes where the orange is gone off. Id only want them if they were actually hot honey, that's disappointing
Fucking stinking

Edit: Also nice interface

Yuzu lemon
Those are the fucking BOMB!
Any trendy limited edition food like matcha Kit Kat is absolute wank 98% of the time
Matcha is good
Matcha is amazing!
How dare you, I fucking INHALED Matcha KitKats, absolutely love the taste of matcha.
Yeah they were muck!
This will either taste really bland or just outright horrible.
There is just to much sweetness going on, it over-powers everything else. If you like, i mean really like sweet things then maybe these are for you.
Ah here, they shouldn't be calling them JAFFA cakes when there isn't a sniff of fruit flavour in there not to mind oranginess!
I'm here for the sexy behringer audio interface
I was wondering about these. I tried the Yuzu Lemon flavour (https://www.tesco.ie/groceries/en-IE/products/321766138), and they were... grand? Like they were fine, not terrible, but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to get them again.
I actually loved them but I love yuzu anyway and find it difficult to get products with it.
The “honey” had such a weird chemical-y taste too 🤮
No
They sound revolting.
The Raspberry flavor Jaffa cakes is amazing! Better than the original but I haven’t seen them in a while.
You can get the raspberry ones in the likes of Polish or Lithuanian shops! Same with cherry ones and sometimes blackcurrant!
Same for me, were in the reduced aisle. tried them, were just fine (barely). Didn't finish them and they went hard so in the bin. Won't try again
Tried these last year. Very weak.
Tried a new twist on an old classic just today: Terry's Chocolate Orange Toffee Crunch.
Absolutely delish.
Yes i concur
No.
Hold on so just hot honey? not orange and hot honey?
Not a smidgen of orange flavor.
And they still write the logo with orange peel? Makes no sense. No orange no Jaffa
and the hot honey logo looks like Hot Wheels logo
You realise Jaffa is from the Jaffa variety of oranges? The name of the product is practically orange cakes!
Yeah thats why I am saying this makes no sense
there's also a Fizzy Cola Bottle flavor one thats not up to much...
I don’t mind that one to be honest
I tried the Yuzu ones in a friends house recently, it wasn’t bad, but there was barely any Jaffa on the cake. Way too much dry sponge.
Less about the biscuits and more about that Audio Interface in the background. What is your DAW of choice?
FL studio for the last 15 Years now. Its alright mostly used for sequencing/midi routing my hardware. And yourself?
Been out of the game just over a year and a half but was on pro tools 12 then got Cubase 13. Have the 2 port version of the UMC Behringer model
Oh, thanks for that.
I saw them the other day and was actually considering it.
Dissapointing though
Agree. Couldn't even eat a full one and I consider an entire pack of Jaffa Cakes to be a single serving. No problem with store brand alternatives but the full pack of these went in the bin. Revolting.
More interested in your device behind the keyboard.
But yeah, an abomination.
The UMC404, its been faultless the last 4 years now. Great interface.
Had high hopes, shouldn't have...

Sounds nice!
No need
I had the lemon flavoured ones the other day and even those were woeful
Hot honey is more to add to savoury foods no? Putting on/in a biscuit/cake seems wrong
They're fire
I actually loved the cola bottle ones I’m ashamed to admit
Hot honey tastes better on O'Donnells crisps than Jaffa Cakes
Christ they are awful yolks all together!!
