Why would we be happy with the government being like “ok we’ll reduce our numbers!!! To still double what the used to be before Covid 😏”. It’s like sure it’s less than last year but it’s still a HUGE jump from prior years immigration numbers.
There are still too many from one country. They are already taking over retail, service, health, schools, neighbourhood’s, you name it. When house prices crashes further, these people will buy them over since they are the only one’s with jobs since they also hire their own.
I live in Scarborough which is a VERY diverse part of Toronto. I went to STC on Saturday and most places lack the diversity when it comes to hiring. The food court is the biggest culprit of this. But even other retail spaces are like this.
It's kinda sad for a city like ours to still have this despite have so many different cultures.
"It was driven by a drop of non-permanent residents - primarily international students as well as temporary foreign workers - in the third quarter of 2025, the largest seen since comparable records began in 1971."
One of the biggest mistakes in recent years is allowing students to work off campus. When they come here they are supposed to have the money to foot their studies. Most do not and take up jobs. Jobs which they do for peanuts. Which is why the youth can't find a job, people struggling can't find a survival job whilst they get on their feet.
I have a question for everyone cheering on non-permanent residents who took good jobs legally and have higher education and qualifications. When we leave, and we will leave, because Canada didn’t give us safety, security and healthcare, will Canadian government take the scammers’ PRs? People who never set foot on Canadian soil who got their PRs, brought shit ton of people, flooded the cities? No. They will stay forever.
I promise you everyone who has a decent income is thinking to leave because we don’t want to be in the third world. We pay taxes and have high incomes to stay in better places. Luckily, there are countries that offer this value. Canada deserves what it did to itself. Until those 2 million PRs are revoked, it’s a sinking ship. Nobody should ever be granted documents of permanent residency until they live in the country and prove they can settle and accept the new culture.
Sorry for you. We came from Singapore. Indian people there are not uneducated and are great at contributing to the local culture and society.
Our assets are a world renowned educational system, advanced healthcare and yes-cleanliness. I know you can’t comprehend it, anyone who travelled to Singapore would immediately see and understand what developed/advanced means. Our contracts are temporary and we are open to invest, work and travel globally. We aren’t a minority and speak multiple languages. Saying that Canada shocked us is to say nothing. This is the reason I say “sorry” for you. People didn’t chose to be born into a corrupted monopoly state.
Still not nearly enough
Bigger immigration cuts than what Poilievre promised, which was Harper era population growth rates.
This sub is never happy.

I can lie about things too. My small island keeps gaining people from obvious foreign countries.
Probably because it’s cold right now, comes spring the liberals will get those numbers right back up 🤣🤣

The current government would like nothing more than for people to blame immigrants instead of government policy failures. Do not fall into this trap.
10 years too late.
If I could award you I would 🙌 Maybe even 15 years too late.
They need two sets of numbers.
The permanent population, and the temporary population.
Because are we really losing that many permanent people? Or is it mostly temporary ones who are leaving?
If you read the article it tells you...
"It was driven by a drop of non-permanent residents - primarily international students as well as temporary foreign workers - in the third quarter of 2025, the largest seen since comparable records began in 1971."
They're specifically cracking down on non permanent residents.
Good!
bbc has an agenda and it's a pro immigration one.
NO MORE REFUGEES/ASYLUM SEEKERS and INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS! 🚫✈️🇨🇦
There needs to be active remigration of most people who came in the last 10 years at least
You want to deport permanent residents?
fraudulently acquired PRs? Yes
They are making all temporary residents permanent. No wonder immigration is dropping

Not fast enough, not large enough drop.
