Are we really surprised. Prices of everything suck. Taxes on everything suck. Insane government spending and bloat suck. But this is Trumps fault right…/s

The US is sliding into a depression so yeah.

USA has a faster GDP growth according to international monetary foundation latest update :  USA : 2% which has been raised since April ( when it was 1.8%) but Canada : 1.2% which has been declined since April ( when it was 1.6 %)

    parent root
    1 points Head_Crash

USA has a faster GDP growth

...and even faster growing economic inequality.

Just like it was immediately before the great depression.

Well if Canada‘s economy tanks it won’t have a huge impact on the global capital markets so at least our equity investments won’t shit the bed like they did in 2008. People obsessed with investing all their assets in a single sector of a single economy (Canadian residential real estate) will get shafted - or if they are leveraged they will lose everything. For the non landlords it may even have an upside other than older people getting close to selling their principal residence that can’t wait out a dip.

IF Trump wanted to tank our economy all he would have to do is make it illegal for American corporations to invest in our housing market, or citizens to own houses here.

    parent root
    1 points Suitable-Ratio

True but that would be detrimental to America’s 0.1% so will never ever happen.

    1 points LightSaberLust_

Trump wants our natural resources and to annex us. They would make a lot more ftom that thrn investing in our housing

    2 points Mindless-Border-4218

Canadian economy going at the current trajectory, if nothing changes drastically will tank in a matter of a few years, Trump will scoop us the whole country at a bargain price, I think that’s his end goal, I might be wrong

    2 points Mindless-Border-4218

Well in Canada people don’t have many other options for investment. Canadian economy is over regulated, over taxed and with a lot of red tapes. Every industry is dominated by the few players and the government makes sure that they are protected and shielded from competition.

So investments options are limited in Canada, there’s not much besides real estate.

Even Carney is heavily invested in the US he doesn’t invest his own money in Canada! That should be a clue for Canadians

Oh, import more immigrants in to drive your wages down further. In a hole, might as well keep digging.

I guess it wasn't immigration after all it was a housing bubble.

Wtf do you think helped contribute to it?

    parent root

Out of control speculation driven by mass immigration rhetoric.

    parent root
    3 points LightSaberLust_

it wasn't speculation or immigration at all its all the overzealous zoning regulations! that's what caused the housing problem

Canada builds way more multifamily units than the US yet has way more expensive housing.

Youre clueless. 15min cities arent helping.

    parent root
    1 points LightSaberLust_

What are you even talking about? Canadian house prices are on par with cities like NYC or Sanfransisco.
