Be excellent to each other. Party on, dudes!

  • Can't wait to hear about how Boston is a better run organization and he likes doing things the Boston way.

I mean they are a better run organization. They draft better, they develop better, they're not afraid to swing for a big trade or spend money to make the team better.

Boston sucks - just look at Bregman - he can’t get out of there fast enough

  • The Cardinals were just a rebound when the Cubs spurned Willson. His time with St. Louis is now over. I never particularly enjoyed having to boo him.

Dude wanted to be Molina so bad he fetishized the shitbirds; him being off the Cardinals doesn't change what he said and how he acted after leaving the team, idk. Can't unfuck that turkey.

Maybe. He did apologize for it though.

  • White sox spending more than the cubs. what a joke.

  • WTF, the sox can come up with $34M to sign Murakami and cheap man ricketts won't let Jed spend any money to land any impactful free agent. We have a nice young core and IMO this is the time to sign a few big names and build around your young core. Tyler Austin isn't doing it for me. No Cease, No King, No Bregman, No Tucker, WTF are we doing. We better be landing Imai.

Austin is useless in improving this team - a former top prospect who failed but hit a few out in Japan. Still, Imai has until 1/2/26 to decide between Cubs and Yanks apparently - though some third team, like the Giants, may shock everyone. Got to be patient right now because negotiations take time, especially international ones

Austin helps with the Cubs biggest weakness. Their inability to hit left handed pitching. Even before going to Japan and improving he still mashes lefties with an .880 OPS. He's a bench bat that can platoon vs lefties. Massive upgrade over Justin Turner for 1/5 of the money. Quit bitching

Ya that's why he hasn't been in MLB in years

First of all, I’ll say what I please. Secondly, Austin was injured most of the time he was in Japan, only breaking out in 2024. Over 4 seasons, he hit 33 HR, and struck out at a 36.9% clip. You are obnoxious and ignorant

Murakami signing with the Sox is a lot different than the Cubs signing Tyler Austin lol.

Murakami is going to start for the Sox and is likely their big signing. His deal is only 2y/34m lol. That’s not a big splash. Tyler Austin is a bench bat. We’re going to need a bench bat either way. So I don’t understand why people think Tyler Austin is supposed to be our “big signing” or something. He’s a depth guy, and we need those guys lol as does every team.

Then I mean let’s be real: why do we even want Bregman? He’s a solid bat but he’s gonna be 32 and really not as good as people think. It’s like people just want us to a sign a bigger name free agent just do to so and not actually to improve the team in the best way possible. We have a 3B that appears to very promising, I mean he just learned the position and did pretty well defensively. He was drafted for his bat, so just wait until he puts some time into honing his offense this year. He’s poised to take a nice step forward. Nobody here would’ve liked us to sign Cease at his price. King would’ve been nice but it is what it is. It appears we are shooting for Imai. Let’s get the guy who’s going to be the best for our team and it appears that will be Imai. I’m pretty sure most of the people here hate Tucker and think he’s not worth the contract he’ll get lol

We’ll be fine. All we need to do is not miss out on 1-2 of the top guys. There’s still plenty of time left

We, a large contingent of Cub fans, want Bregman because he hits! He hits for average and has power and he wins. He’s a clubhouse leader, a veteran who’s been there and can show the way. Like Tucker or Harper or any other great hitter, Bregman has been consistently successful at the plate year after year (9 years) - and on defense, he’s a Gold Glover (2024). What’s not to like ?

    Trade Shaw for SP.

His power is heavily supported by the Crawford Boxes

Murakami wasn't going to get a big deal with any contending team. He's one of the most intriguing boom or bust players that I've seen in a long time.

He'll get a ton of runway with the Sox that he was not going to get the Cubs or any other contender. The fact that he's going to play first tells me even the Sox don't consider him an MLB caliber third baseman.

I suspect he is going to hit you 22 home runs per season but also strike out 200 times.

I’m not saying he’s going to hit as many home runs as those guys, but Schwarber struck out 197 times, Suárez 196, Cal Raleigh 188, and Ohtani 187. If you bring Murakami into the Sox organization, give him access to a new training staff, and tweak a few things, maybe you can unlock a bit more power. You never know, sometimes a fresh look really can be impactful.

Overall, it’s a nice signing by the Sox at $17M per year on a two-year deal. I’m a little jealous sitting here waiting for our big splash.

They don't need to unlock more power in his bat. The scouting report says on a scale to 80 his power is a 90. He's got elite power.

Doesn't really work with what we have on our roster positionally.

White Sox are playing him at 1st but it sounds like he's more of a DH type which we have enough of.

Yeah, I'm perpetually waiting too, but this one getting away didn't bug me so much.

  • Go Bears! What a game and win! Let’s go!!!!!

  • I’m glad the Sox got Murakami. Why not lol

  • PCA is wondering at the game last night why can’t Tom Ricketts build us a great team

Oh if I get downvoted fuck you bc yall know im right where that one dude that was bitching at me about Ricketts

This sub is 100% the softest of ANY of the subreddits I belong to and that’s saying something. Levy any critique at this team and you get downvoted. I’ll get downvoted to oblivion for daring to say this but I don’t give a fuck 😂

I miss the old sub so so much.

It's possible that it's not even the take but the complaining about downvotes. The top comment has a positive score, while whinging about downvotes or the sub in general is negative. FryShocked.gif

Me making a comment about being downvoted is the reason people get downvoted for offering up critiques of the team in this sub?

I’m sure that’s probably it. Solid reasoning there 😅

I can try to break this down for you:

It's possible that it's not even the take but the complaining about downvotes. The top comment has a positive score

See, here I was describing how the top comment, which is critiquing ownership, isn't downvoted and has a positive score.

while whinging about downvotes or the sub in general is negative

Here I move on to suggest that when OP complains in a comment about downvotes (and directs ire toward the sub in general) they are downvoted. Likewise, your comment directs ire toward the sub in general, and is downvoted.

  • Da Bears

Which one of you sold your soul for this season?

    We got Da Pope.
