You know all those Georgia folks are punching air right now. After Louisville beat Miami they swarmed this sub making jokes on Beck. I get 5 interceptions was a collapse but they sure did underestimate.
That’s what’s insane about conference sizes. They almost played completely unique conference schedules. Which begs the question wtf is a conference at that point lol
I think that really is the best way forward. 10 team regional conferences that all play each other. Eliminate the conference championship games because there won’t be a doubt who the champion is. Then move the playoffs up so everything except maybe the national championship game is over before the portal opens.
I don't remember anything happening between our teams... in actuality though, we had a complete late game collapse (forced by y'all, not taking away credit that is due)
Miami's defense literally could've sealed this game with like 4 picks. They could not get home on none of their pressures and allowed Chambliss to bounce back from some ugly throws. Cristobal has to blow a gasket in the post game even with them going to the natty. They won't beat Oregon or IU playing like this.
Our achilles heel is a QB like Chambliss because he throws quick and runs. We do much better against pocket passers. Also helps that half our team has been playing against Jeremiah Smith their entire lives
And the offense played way better today. I think the defense matches up against both IU and Oregon better than against Ole Miss, and our offense will go back down to the A&M/OSU level against those defenses.
The penalties and dropped picks almost lost us the game. We still pulled it out, and hopefully the Ole Miss mistakes were an outlier and we get back to what won us the first two playoff games.
Either way, we proved that we can win multiple ways these playoffs. Weird energy for one of the top posts here being negative about us getting to the National Championship
For a team that literally lost its coach a few weeks ago in the dumbest fashion the fact they fought this close is a huge accomplishment and should give them optimism for Golding.
It's genuinely insane that they made it this far after Kiffin bailed on them. That should have sunk their playoff run in theory, but it didn't. They were playing with house money all the way.
I mean talent is talent. Coaching is important but college football is a talent driven league. Very few coaches scheme away deficiencies in rosters. Lane was elite at getting top tier talent through the portals. That talent didn't disappear.
No, but that team could’ve easily fractured and it didn’t. That speaks volumes to Golding and his defensive staff for the job they did in getting those guys ready to play.
I mean you say that, but the ole Miss offense wasn’t doing much for a majority of the game. The TOP difference was huge and that’s on both sides of the ball.
Bittersweet tho since we’re one of their only losses, can’t help but think what would happen if we never went on that 3 game losing streak including the self destruction against SMU.
Our Miami win was our seasons high point of this past season. With all the injuries of our best players it was just not in the cards for us. Things are already looking good going into next year. I think it’s crazy I’m here rooting for IU to keep their historic season. I think the Hooiser jokes are a bit of words of endearment here in the Ville
For all the fans that can't sniff the prices of the Natty, I can assure you that there's going to be plenty of fairweather fans that are sniffing for you..
they both shouldn’t have made it. if they can’t win big games throughout the year they don’t deserve to be in. MISSOURI AND TENNESSEE ARE NOT QUALITY WINS. no offence to those guys
It was also thrown way too deep where refs might just deem it uncatchable from where the contact began. I think there was a higher possibility of the flag being thrown if it was towards the beginning/middle of the endzone instead
Dude what? The issue for 90% of ND fans was with including Bama not Miami. The switch with Miami was BS but they probably always should have been ahead. Bama proceeded to do literally nothing to change that either.
Beck will have a chance to get a title.
Crazy
I’m just sitting here wondering if he’s the ugliest QB in college. Hell of a game, though.
He briefly dated a Cavinder twin btw. And then cheated on her
with the other twin or did he suggest something to them
Nah, one of the Miami locals. He couldn’t last a week around all of them
>Nah, one of the Miami locals. He couldn’t last a week around all of them
It's not a bug, it's a feature.
I get it.
Latinas got him
If it was the other twin, could he just claim confusion?
Proof some women settle
Is it really considered settling if you’re a multimillionaire?
Someone said he looks like a white Somali
He looks like Shelley Duval
Holy crap! It’s the big but weird eyes.
Holy shit.
He looks like a slightly melted Pete Davidson to me, but I can't really explain why
Tony Henchcliff inbred brother. Or the Blue Monstar from Space Jam.
Pete Davison looks like a slightly melted Pete Davidson already. Beck has it rough
Sid the Sloth
He kinda reminds me of the sloth in ice age
You might literally be the first person to ever make that connection
Lmaoooo
He kind of looks like Napoleon Dynamite when he’s wearing his helmet.
The love child of Tom Petty and Slenderman.
You know all those Georgia folks are punching air right now. After Louisville beat Miami they swarmed this sub making jokes on Beck. I get 5 interceptions was a collapse but they sure did underestimate.
It’s about 50/50 with us. A lot of us recognize Beck’s talent and that Bobo just couldn’t develop him. The other half ran him out of town.
I think a lot of us are happy for him. It was a very mutual split. We’re happy with Gunner. He’s had success in Miami. Win/Win.
HOW STRONG MUST DUKE BE???????
You mean ACC champions Duke?
First the ACC, then the sun bowl, now potentially national champs by proxy?!?!???!?!?
Can they be champs by proxy if they didn’t beat anyone who beat Miami?
That’s what’s insane about conference sizes. They almost played completely unique conference schedules. Which begs the question wtf is a conference at that point lol
Yeah it's wild to look over at Tennessee or Kentucky and think "huh...we are in the same conference with them."
We never see each other. Feels like we might as well be in different leagues.
No offense OU but we want State and Kentucky back
Go back to the 10-team SEC and do a full round robin again. Make conferences mean something
I think that really is the best way forward. 10 team regional conferences that all play each other. Eliminate the conference championship games because there won’t be a doubt who the champion is. Then move the playoffs up so everything except maybe the national championship game is over before the portal opens.
Big 12 tried that in 2014 and ended up with co-champions.
I think it makes SMU champs by proxy. Only they and Louisville beat us, and SMU pounded Louisville 38-6 after both teams beat us.
Champions of the Sun, Devils in Blue: Duke.
They mean SUN BOWL CHAMPIONS Duke Blue Devils
I dunno, didn’t seem so bad
I don't remember anything happening between our teams... in actuality though, we had a complete late game collapse (forced by y'all, not taking away credit that is due)
HOW STRONG IS UCONN? THE INDEPENDENT TEAM THAT BEAT DUKE?
I’ve heard enough, UConn deserves a guaranteed spot in the CFP.
Excuse me sir, but as the current Wasabi Fenway Bowl Champions (beat UConn by like 100) I believe army is more deserving of a CFP slot
Duke is the true master of the elder wand
Duke holds the stick of truth.
We've got to leave them out to keep it fair.
Micheal Irving may have a brain aneurysm on that sideline lol
Man was acting like he was suited up and on the line.
He’s one of the world’s premiere amazing psychopaths
Apparently I need to get on his cocaine because I was not like that when I did it (it's why I'll take MD, but that's a story for another day).
Michael doesn’t do cocaine he secretes it
His blood when he dies will be found to be 75% cocaine
They’ll find small traces of blood in his cocaine system
Definitely on the line(s).
*zooted up
Oh he was definitely on the line alright. Maybe more than once.
He’s just on an unusual amount of cocaine
You call it unusual, he calls it Thursday.
Unusual outside of Miami.
Euphemism for overdosing from snorting too much coke?
Why not both?
Irvin*
Ole miss defense looked about out matched all game, small, slow and fatigued
And yet the game was still very close.
Honestly given that Ole Miss was clearly out talented I think they did a pretty good job tonight.
They probably lose that game 8/10 times at least simply due to talent and they almost pulled it off.
I think their kicker kept them in it
Plus Miami dropping 4 potential INTs.
Agreed
We put 3 guys up against 5 OL's all game and they still got sacks.
Our secondary outplayed in tue 4th quarter.
Man what does that have to do with them getting like 5 YPC or needing assistance with virtually every tackle on the WRs?
Miami's defense literally could've sealed this game with like 4 picks. They could not get home on none of their pressures and allowed Chambliss to bounce back from some ugly throws. Cristobal has to blow a gasket in the post game even with them going to the natty. They won't beat Oregon or IU playing like this.
“They won’t beat Ohio State playing like this”-people after the A&M game. (They beat Ohio State with the exact same gameplan btw)
The defense played way better in those games though. They got takeaways and made great tackles. The tackling seemed off today for sure
I agree, but I would also like to add that Ole Miss has a better offense than Ohio State.
That is hilarous slander but for completely objective reasons I approve of this message.
He doesn’t mean that they need to change the game plan. He means the players have to execute. They didn’t drop four interceptions against Ohio State.
Also didn't have a ton of stupid penalties
Indiana/Oregon's O-Line could give their d-line a hard time during the NCG.
They said this about Ohio State
I don't think many people were saying OSUs line was a strength. By most accounts it was called their weakest unit.
Yeah no one said our OL was gonna be an issue for them. Whole game plan was (supposed to be) get the ball out as quick as possible
No B1G refs in the NC game will help some.
Granted, their line won't be able to hold as much either.
I was saying the same thing all game. Incredibly excited about the outcome, but the journey there almost gave me an aneurysm
Absolute master-class of how to suck as much of the clock in your favour as possible by the Canes. What an awesome game!
Rules be damned give Trinidad another year
He'll probably get it - his waiver request seems very reasonable to me
Worth 10 million
I want to dunk on the SEC, but that was a great game. Six lead changes, and Ole Miss made a real run even after Kiffin bailed.
For a team that literally lost its coach a few weeks ago in the dumbest fashion the fact they fought this close is a huge accomplishment and should give them optimism for Golding.
I’m now cheering for a golding coached ole miss in every game except against Miami.
I agree with every take in this chain, you love to see it.
Yeah Ole Miss has nothing to be ashamed of, just came up a bit short against what is clearly a very good team
That was an amazing 4th quarter. Clutch play after clutch play by both teams.
Ole Miss Defense let that whole offense down
Same with Miami defense almost lol
I mean you say that, but the ole Miss offense wasn’t doing much for a majority of the game. The TOP difference was huge and that’s on both sides of the ball.
Are we surprised? It’s Pete Golding lol
I have a Miami fan in my life and I just can’t do it anymore man lol
I know it's hollow after a loss, but Ole Miss fully has the right to hold their heads up high.
Props to Ole miss, that was a great fucking fight
Ole Miss played great tbh. They were clearly overmatched and yet almost pulled it off.
Huge props to them - especially given the situation.
Got that copy and paste ready lol
Toney is special
ACC ACC ACC
I for one welcome our new ACC overlords. Can’t wait for the 16-0 Demon Deacons next year.
Anything is possible
ACC ACC ACC
ACC ACC ACC
Bittersweet tho since we’re one of their only losses, can’t help but think what would happen if we never went on that 3 game losing streak including the self destruction against SMU.
You’d obviously be playing for a national championship right now
Our Miami win was our seasons high point of this past season. With all the injuries of our best players it was just not in the cards for us. Things are already looking good going into next year. I think it’s crazy I’m here rooting for IU to keep their historic season. I think the Hooiser jokes are a bit of words of endearment here in the Ville
I feel so vindicated
It’s not that easy is it?
Will be hilarious if Miami wins it all when everyone claimed both teams were ass after the A&M-Miami game
Miami and Ole Miss have explosive offensive games where both defense played poorly
Reddit: “wow, two great teams who put up a great fight!”
Miami and A&M have great defensive showings resulting in the offenses playing poorly*
Reddit: “wow, these teams are so ass! Neither of them should have made the playoffs”
Oh God, we're gonna be considered frauds every year because we have a defensive coach won't we.
Yep. But if you win games it doesn't really matter.
Aggies were legit this year
We played y’all closer than Ohio State did 😅
For all the fans that can't sniff the prices of the Natty, I can assure you that there's going to be plenty of fairweather fans that are sniffing for you..
Jacksonville State beat Delaware
Delaware beat UCONN
UCONN beat Duke
Duke beat Cal
Cal beat Louisville
Louisville beat Miami
We are the clear winners here!
Once you’ve beaten Delaware it’s all gravy anyway.
Hang the banner
Miami was about to be left out lol. Dumb ass committee
If only the committee had the courage to do the right thing and leave out Bama.
SEC getting 5 teams was clearly absurd. They lost every single P4 matchup they had.
If not for Tulane they would have zero wins over other conferences period.
*Oklahoma
they both shouldn’t have made it. if they can’t win big games throughout the year they don’t deserve to be in. MISSOURI AND TENNESSEE ARE NOT QUALITY WINS. no offence to those guys
While you're not wrong, they were a 2-loss team that beat Bama.
bama is not a quality win, ask FSU
There were legitimate reasons they could have been left out. Performing well in the playoffs doesn't change that.
Game of the Year. That was such an awesome watch.
I think have like 3 bleeding ulcers from this game
Is it safe to have a heart rate of 190 for 3 straight hours?
The UGA game was insane too.
Just here to say a quick fuck you to Lane Kiffin
I remember seeing media people like Pate and this subreddit saying "The ACC is just like the B12 and won't have a team play for a Natty ever again"
Not now please, we've got transfer portal news to keep up with
At least Lane F’in Kiffin didn’t make money tonight.
Bold to assume that Kiffin didn’t bet on Miami.
Legit this was what people were thinking was gonna happen like week 6
Carson Beck doesn’t seem to have much NFL quality to him
But he’s the example of why you don’t need that to be a legend in college ball, he just brought Miami back to the natty. That is a legacy
Just my opinion but I think he'll have a decent career in the NFL. May be as a backup, Don Strock kinda guy
ACC! ACC! ACC!
Oregon vs. Miami CristoBowl?
Holy pass interference on that hail mary
They never call PI on hail marys.
Rules don’t apply on last play of the game
Holding didn't apply all game either way. Wtf B1G flairs that was egregiously bad?
Big10 officials don't call holding.
It’s going to be very interesting with an SEC crew in the natty. It seems like Miami adjusted quickly to the lax holding regulation.
Now we will see if they can adjust back or get called back to the goal line every defensive drive.
They never call holding.
Both players were grabbing
Seriously. People are just digging for controversy. Calling PI would be a sham.
If Miami lost another Fiesta Bowl to a late ticky tacky PI words cannot express the rage that would consume me
Thank you! Why are people just convenientlt ignoring the WRs hands pulling the facemask of the DB? Ole miss had invisible hands it seems
It was also thrown way too deep where refs might just deem it uncatchable from where the contact began. I think there was a higher possibility of the flag being thrown if it was towards the beginning/middle of the endzone instead
This is my attitude on it as well. But the receiver did get a hand on it. Somewhat of a close call
It was catchable, I think. Just barely out of the corner where a receiver could reasonably attempt a toe tap if they weren’t being held by a defender.
However, nether in CFB or the NFL, has PI ever been called on what is essentially a Hail Mary, so you can’t complain too much.
Not really - they showed the replay and both guys were all over each other.
Not to mention they let a lot of PI go all night.
Notre Dame is welcome to eat shit
Dude what? The issue for 90% of ND fans was with including Bama not Miami. The switch with Miami was BS but they probably always should have been ahead. Bama proceeded to do literally nothing to change that either.
Y’all can still eat shit tho
I agree with this take.
Miami’s run actually makes me feel better about how good ND was this year!
Even more evidence we should've been in over bama
CRISIS AVERTED
Great game! If Pete Golding can bottle this energy, Ole Miss can stay at a very good level for a long time.
That said, I'm glad Lane Kiffin (he is our villain now) won't have to live with a team he built winning the natty without him.
Miller Moss and Louisville would’ve beaten Ole Miss by two scores confirmed.
Finally, Miami will get to play in front of a full stadium at home!
Congratulations! You just finished an ESPN Instant Classic!
lol remember when they tired to put multiple teams over Miami like ND TEXAS and did with Alabama and OU
Back to back to back to back to back 3 man rushes on that final drive
Prevent defense prevents you from winning
Pretty crazy, a lot of people didn’t think Miami should even be in the playoff.
Either Mario Cristobal vs Oregon or Fernando Mendoza homecoming. Absolute cinema
be ready for this...Miami may win a national championship before it wins an ACC championship...
Bet this really stings to Notre dame
LETS GOOOOOOO HOME GAME FOR THE CHIP
Y’all need to fill those seats now for real. No excuses this time.
1000% facts no argument
To get in the door is $3k. Hoping prices start to drop
Lane Kiffin is breathing the biggest sigh of relief.
Can’t spell second-rate without SEC.
Love how they call a lot of borderline PIs all game then allow the mugging on the hailmary
They actually let a ton of PI go that game.
Yeah people just rewriting history even though it occurred 1 hour ago lol. Almost no PI’s were called for the majority of that game
Apparently they decided to also suspend the rule on holding
I can’t believe we lost to a Carson Beck rushing TD
I can't believe we had a Carson Beck rushing TD, but that is somehow even less crazy than the multiple Carson Beck designed QB runs
SOMEONE CHECK ON NOTRE DAME AND GREG SANKEY
Does the SEC meet up secretly to determine who it just means more too?
What's up with QBs not being able to keep the ball in the end zone on last second heaves?
DBs are fronting the WRs there, so they need to put enough air on it to get it over the DBs.
So the SEC is only capable of beating G5 teams? So much for strongest conference.
To be fair hypothetical they would win that game 9-10 times.
