Mods have been asleep for 3 days
Christmas hangover is real, brother.
E: What a day.
The pop tart bowl should be a playoff game
Any game that involves that ritual sacrifice of sentient pastry people should be the championship game. Otherwise, what are they even sacrificing their lives for? Make their deaths meaningful!
Honestly great symbolism, as the pop tart gets sacrificed so does one of the teams
And slammin' strawberry (Notre Dame) is still on the run
The sacrificial pop tart should be decorated as the losing team. Don't get cooked!
Still salty about last night
Huh? No I legit mean that the pop tart bowl is one of the best bowls of all time and would be legitimately funny to have as a playoff game,
Also yes, but I'm not butthurt about it, better team won
I think the Pinstripe Bowl and Fenway Bowl should be playoff bowls just because the idea of two of the best CFB teams playing a playoff game in a baseball stadium amuses me. It's not quite as good as ritual pastry sacrifice, but it's still visually interesting.
I mean using two of the most iconic sports venues in America for CFB playoff games is hardly the worst idea.
Nah, the Snoop Dog Bowl!
WHERE IS THE GAME THREAD
Hey, its really hard to hit post. Like really, really, really hard.
How are 2 Jeremiah's the best wr and best rb in the nation lmao
So we just not getting a thread for the rose bowl?
It posted 1 hr before kickoff: https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/1q1dghk/game_thread_rose_bowl_indiana_vs_alabama_400_pm_et/
Then you guys locked it long before the end of the game
With a pinned link to the 2nd half thread - Reddit's servers freak out when threads go over 20k, so big games are split in two!
👍
Butthurt Bama stans 😂
Receiver ripping on the facemask but the defense gets PI called against them.
One of the worst PI calls I’ve seen in a while
I would like to shit talk both Alabama and Indiana but the link doesn't exist
It posted 1 hr before kickoff: https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/1q1dghk/game_thread_rose_bowl_indiana_vs_alabama_400_pm_et/
Imagine a world where Alabama gets absolutely shithoused in a playoff game by the Indiana fucking Hoosiers. That's a seriously bizarro fantasy world.
Where game thread!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Are first round byes a disadvantage?? And I think that the top 4 seeds should have an opportunity to host a home game too 🤷🏾♀️
Won't someone think about the poor CEOs and bowl sponsors though
The fact that seeds 5-8 get a home game yet 1-4 do not is bonkers to me. Granted they have to play an extra game but what do you get for being the 1 seed?….more time off and a neutral site game. Hardly seems fair. Also don’t understand why these games are now “bowl games” when the first round were not bowl games? Here’s an idea, just call them all playoff games and give the “bowl games” back to those not in the playoff. Is Miami going to have a Cotton Bowl trophy? If they lose next round, do they care they won the Cotton Bowl? Take away some of the lesser bowls and give back these bowls.
Agreed. And if Indiana loses today too, I can see the committee changing the formatting… You earned a top 4 seed, you should be able to host too imo. Bowl games thing is probably money and venue related and they want those historic bowl games played in the CFP.
Miami outplayed OSU tho, and I’m not surprised they won. They were the more physical team, but I do find it ridiculous that these quarter final games aren’t played at the higher seeds home stadium. Semifinals and finals are the only ones that should be played on a neutral site
The scheduling issue is that the playoffs need to start sooner. Byes aren't an advantage because everyone gets to be off from the end of November until the end of December and is fresh going in. What the format is showing to this point is that nobody knows how to handle a month off with coaches and staffs changing jobs.
That I feel is the biggest flaw with the byes.
13-0 Conference Champions? Too bad, your fans don't get to see you until August.
10-2 and not even playing for a Conference Championship? Congratulations, here's an extra home game and the truck full of money it generates.
Yeah, it makes no sense to not give them home games that they earned. Imagine the atmosphere in those home stadiums.
Indiana went undefeated through the regular season, and they don’t get to host a home game 🤦🏾♀️ I still think they win it all anyways but it’s a flaw…
Alabama, how are you feeling going into the game knowing that we have never lost being a #1 ranked team? Undefeated as a #1 ranked tem, if you will.
I mean. These playoffs are awesome.
Alabama - Bye Bye, shitheads
Ohio Stay - Adios loersser!
Georgia - so long fuckers!!!
Eliminate first round byes and seed 1-12 with home field to the highest seed.
You’d have to go up to 16 teams. Otherwise, without byes how would you get from 12 teams to 2? 12/6/3
I can get behind this. But we should stop at 16 teams.
Agree. 16 teams, basically starts the same week it currently does, top 8 get home games…
And no more conference auto-bids, if you’re not in the top 16 you don’t deserve entry. Pick the 16 teams before the Conf Championship games. Those games can impact the seeding afterwards (if the Conferences wants that), but not the “in or out” of the playoffs.
Good point. I’d like to see 16 but I’m sure that’s years away. At least with 12 everyone has to get to the final four by winning at least one game, not a ridiculous poll that predetermines the final four.
The new college football world. The fourth quarter Rose Bowl sunset a thing of the past
They’re gonna throw a flag for that!?
I like how the fiesta bowl still has a TBD for Miami’s opponent. Is ESPN trying to sneak Georgia in for the Carson Beck bowl?
FCS Natty Game Thread?
/r/fcs
that one is nowhere near as active as the cfb one
Bet that cop was pissed. Got soaked
fuck him
reminding us IU needed that last second catch to beat penn state is uh....well I totally forgot about that
never turned his head
Kind of weird to be going back to four regular bowls after all this.
I just want a column with the game dates and time...
WHERES THE D3 GAME DAY THREAD?!

ICYMI
That’s on me, I should have looked harder. Thanks
Indiana is pretty good. Google them. Actually, Mendoza is really growing on me. He us so likeable amd engaging. Kids going to make a fortune in endorsements
Indy and Georgia gotta be sweating buckets rn
Just saw Bama has a grand total 57 yards rushing in the last 10 quarters of play
I have a feeling Bama might not win this
Everyone is pulling for Miami v. Ole Miss to remove the SEC from the playoffs.
Respect to Rice! They showed up and did their best. That's more than some schools.
Hey, /u/CFB_Referee, can you fix the markdown for all of these game threads today?
What's the markdown issue?
Links to threads showing up as '[GAME THREAD]()', could be something else that got broke
Those are just placeholders - these are all being manually updated, so there's a delay between the thread posting and someone being able to manually edit them in.
The normal GTI is automated, but it's currently having some code issues so this is the next best solution!
Anyone else think Pop-Tarts are best frozen?
This Indiana team is kinda good
Dude, American football has way too many commercials. It makes it boring!
Ok, feel better? You keep saying that, so just stop watching it. There must be a soccer game on somewhere- find it.
We would have NEVER heard the end out it if OSU repeated.
Glory to God lolololol nothing takes away more from your team than that. Kids dying around the world every day and God is concerned about football.... Get fucked
All these games to end up with a Georgia v Alabama championship game again.
Chris Fowlers nose is really far from his lips
Game Thread for Bama/IU about as on time as PAC12 refs throwing a flag for a neutral zone infraction
WHAT SORCERY IS THIS
This is Alabama’s chance today to prove they should be in playoff. (Sorry beating a patsy like OU isn’t proving you belong). So far they’re not very convincing.
bama is done
Give us the IU postgame thread cowards
This is the most corporate director QB I've ever heard
Georgia were all being COWARDS on that last play.
No one was man enough to take it and try to break a tackle!!!
They were prioritizing throwing the ball backwards. Wtf
That last play by Georgia, ole miss was rushing one guy.. shouldn't they have tried for the hail Mary instead of all the laterals? I mean Gunnar would have had literally forever to wind up and launch that baby.
As much as I, like most people I suspect, want to see Indiana win the the Natty because of how great a story it is.
But honestly, part of me also kind of wants Ole Miss to win as a big old, "Fuck you!!" to Lane Kiffin.
Ole Miss vs Indiana is the dream championship game
All 3 of Ohio State, Alabama, and Georgia losing is the greatest outcome imaginable lmao
They really need to reseed between rounds. It makes no sense having the 6 and 10 seed in one bracket and the 1 and 5 in the other. Especially since Indiana and Oregon are probably the best teams in the country right now.
Where holiday bowl
Nvm Im dumb
Where is it
https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/1q2eyib/game_thread_holiday_bowl_smu_vs_arizona_800_pm_et/
Much appreciated
Let's have fun and whacky bowl games but penalize players when their fun and whacky in them!
Redbirds or Bobcats?
Great game so far!
Legit lol about that block after the announcers chastised the very idea of a sneak
These past two seasons 2024,25 CFP teams had two byes unless they ended a week early (one bye) or played in week 0 (three byes). While it was good to have that after some people said they should have two bye weeks, it's apparently not an annual thing but a 1/3 occurrence in 2-4-2-4... patterns with 2 double bye years then FOUR consecutive single bye years before the next pair of double bye years. With the conference championship games in the 12 team playoff having been Jan 20 last year and Jan 19 this year, mostly everyone expected January 18 next year (unless that Rose and Sugar bowls were to host Semi's but stay on Jan 1) but surprisingly it's a week later on January 25! The 2028 and 2029 games are similarly late too.
Does this mean they are keeping two bye weeks? If not there would be a Super Bowl esch bye week between the semi finals and championship!
Is this Eddie Lacy’s brother?
Fuck vrbo. I hate that shitty ass company
Ole Miss kicker needs to go to the draft.
Maybe I have internet brain rot, but the apple in that graphic looks... suggestive.
Cristobal spazzing rn 😂
Just wanted to discuss ABC/ESPN announcing teams. I was sad to learn tonight that Joe Tessitore and Jessie Palmer are not the 2nd ranked announce team. They are my number 1 team, but I guess ESPN/ABC don't care about my opinion.
Hope the Natty is a good game now. Please no more blowouts
The college football playoff system has been a success, in my opinion, in creating an exciting structure for the CFB postseason. You can't say these high stakes games haven't been exciting! I mean, who doesn't love a perennial underdog finally winning?
[deleted]
Well, the fix is in
College football is dead.
We must be watching 2 different playoffs.
Must be. These games are terrible.
I just wish Pat would stfu. He is so far the most unaccomplished, nobody on that panel. He knows nothing about football.
Ole Miss can’t tackle
FUCK OUR KICKER
