This is a series I've now been doing for 11 years. The post attempts to visualize all AP Poll ballots in a single image. Additionally it sorts each AP voter by similarity to the group. Notably, this is not a measure of how "good" a voter is, just how consistent they are with the group. Especially preseason, having a diversity of opinions and ranking styles is advantageous to having a true consensus poll. Polls tend to coalesce towards each other as the season goes on.
You can now view all of the ballots this season by week by sliding through here: https://bakonyalgo.com/ap
Matt Murschel, Jerry Humphrey, and Haley Sawyer were the most consistent voters this week. Michael Katz is in first on the season. Julian Mininsohn, Matt Murschel, Mike Jacques, and Jerry Humphrey were behind him in the top 5.
Alex Taylor was the biggest outlier this week. Koki Riley is the biggest outlier on the season, followed by Stephen Means, Jon Wilner, Sam McKewon, and Kirk Kenney.
Lol, Shaun Goodwin, I appreciate top 5, but you clearly didn't watch the BYU TTU game
I called him out last week for having us right behind TTU, guess he decided to double down this week
Single-handedly trying to force the committee to elevate us.
Nah he’s just saying our loss is better than Tech’s loss, because quality losses amirite?
Javon Edmonds of Syracuse with a hate vote of ND at 12 is hilarious after that 70-7 annihilation.
He had ND at #8 last week so clearly it really was him getting annoyed about it
Sounds pretty dishonest to me.
I don’t get it, wouldn’t you rather move them up and say “we got 70 hung on us but that’s a top 3/top 5 team” than move them down and say your team got 70 hung on you by the #12 team in the country?
That’s why I always think it’s so stupid when people start yelling “overrated” about a team that they’re beating. Wouldn’t you want to say that that’s the best team in the country and you are still beating them?
The Syracuse voter Javon Edmonds dropped Notre Dame from #8 last week to #12 in his vote this week lol.
Sounds like someone’s a little bit salty about the beatdown
Kirk Kenney, wtf are you smoking?
He hates oklahoma I guess
Pretty clear to me he doesn't really care about losses, just wins/eye test
He has Texas > OU because of head to head and 2/3 of their losses being to teams in his top 3 and stuff like BYU > Utah because of head to head despite the losses which sure makes sense, but then you had stuff like OU not moving up in his ballot for beating Alabama a couple weeks ago and having them stay in front of OU despite the exact same record and OU losing to 2 of his top 10 and Alabama's other loss being to FSU. Not to mention him having ND #6 despite Alabama, Tech, Oregon, and OU all having better wins and having either the same or better records.
He only really cares about wins for certain teams and then only focuses on the losses for others, the more you look at it the more inconsistent it really gets.
Looks good to me. 😁
Koki Riley, what are we doing? You have us tenth but we beat two other teams, USC and Iowa, that you also ranked, and by your own logic, the number one team in the country, Indiana (who he ranked there). Make it make sense lol
He’s an idiot who should have his vote pulled. He’s said he will never willingly vote for a G6 team.
He put Tulane at #25 in 2022 after they beat USC in the cotton bowl.
Kooky Riley
Seriously. I want to know what the Duck did to her because that’s a crazy ballot
We all know Kirk Kenney is nuts, but Greg Madia is smoking CRACK with Miami at 8 and Virginia and Michigan ahead of Utah
Alex Taylor gave JMU an 8th place vote
They're definitely in the race for a playoff bid but let's be real here lol
Yeah come on let’s be real. How are we not a top five team
Certified ball knower
Is jmu the first team to receive a top ten vote and miss the CFP Ranking? Many are asking
Very interesting…considering 1) JMU votes went down compared to last week 2)Alex didn’t even have them ranked in week 13 3)without his BS 8th place ranking, that +37 would be even lower…..
Comparison of votes from week 13 to week 14 JMU: +37 UNT: +102 Tulane: +88
Dude has a lot of G5 teams higher than they should be
Voters ranking Geogia over undefeated A&M is.... a choice
What do you think the spread would be on a neutral field?
It's the same logic as ranking 2 loss teams over 1 loss teams, no?
I mean, UGA lost one game by 3 and is playing at a much higher level now than we were. A&M's only notable win is beating ND by 1. Pretty easy to see why, honestly.
I'm here to pile on Kirk Kenney because a couple of those slots are just nuts. You know which ones
Pete Yanity really voted Illinois at 25 after they lost to Wisconsin
Edit: he also ranked Illinois at 25 last week
Was Yanity just not aware of what happened to us wtf
Alex Taylor is my homeboy, ranking us one above Texas!
I’m not convinced that Koki Riley even pays attention to games or results at all. He’s firmly in Wilner territory as a guy who probably shouldn’t have a vote if they aren’t going to take it seriously.
KoKi Riley is…on something
How easy would it be for you to, on your website, allow people to filter to a specific voter?
Are you talking about in the image with the ballots or the predictive resume graph?
The image with the ballots
Could be neat! At the moment it's just a static image, but I could probably try to render it differently.
Could be interesting to be able to visualize voters' progression more easily. Like the Syracuse affiliated voter moving ND from #8 to #12 after their game this last weekend...
Mike Hill and Koki Reilly should never be allowed to vote again
Javon Edmunds from Syracuse ranks Notre Dame at 12. Love it after this past weekend lol
Guy has ND ranked over Oregon.
They share the same “best win” and Oregon’s sole loss is better than either of ND’s losses individually - let alone combined.
I agree Oregon should be ranked ahead of ND, but do you really think a 10 point loss to #2 Indiana is better than a one point loss to #3 Texas A&M?
I think those are pretty comparable losses. Then you also have the 2nd loss
I absolutely agree that both our losses combined should be a bigger mark against us than Oregon’s single loss against number two Indiana.
The point I’m poking at is this person saying that Oregon’s loss was better than either of Notre Dame‘s losses individually. I disagree that a 10 point loss to #2 is better than a one point loss to number #3. Oregon’s 10 point loss to Indiana is either on par with Notre Dame’s 1 point loss or slightly worse.
Did you watch the games? Indiana controlled the game against Oregon late in the game while Notre Dame lost because of a 4th down buzzer beater miracle pass. Those two losses are not the same. Furthermore, Notre dames two losses came much earlier in the season which yes that is cause they play their better teams early but also like they are starting a true freshman
It’s about 90% as good. And then you have the Miami loss.
I think Oregon should be ahead of ND, but I disagree that losing to #2 by 10 is a better loss than #3 by 1.
Mike Hlas I love you even more
Sean Raider my side hoe too
So many overratings of Notre Dame above 15
Kurt Bowels fucking hates Texas with all of his soul.
15 is fair.
Got his mixed up with Keith Farmer. Comment still stands.
