My hold on March's book never came in and April was really crazy for me, but does anyone want to try for May? Any suggestions for books?

I've got a non-fiction suggestion and a couple of fiction suggestions, but I am open to anything! Just hoping to keep this book club alive.

The fantasy book I'm suggesting I have read before and loved. The thriller/mystery I have not read but is supposed to be one of the top from 2018. The non-fiction I'm suggesting purely because I'm going to be reading it anyway, but maybe some of you would like it, too?

I'm going to post each suggestion in an individual comment. Up vote what you like, and please do add a comment with your suggestion for others to vote for!

I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes posting this - I'd just love this sub to stay alive.

Edit to add I'll leave this open to voting until April 30th at 9pm PST and then I'll make another post with the top chosen book.

  • The Oathbound by Mercedes Lackey

"Tarma witnessed her clan's murder and, swearing vengeance, became a master warrior. Kethry fled her forced "marriage" and became an adept--pledging her power to the greatest good. When Kethry obtains a magical sword which draws her to others in need, the two vow to avenge the wrongs done to womanhood."

I love all of her books. She was my first fantasy author. I especially love the Diana Tregard books and the Jennifer Talldear.

  • The seabird's cry : the lives and loves of the planet's great ocean voyagers by Adam Nicolson

"Life itself could never have been sustainable without seabirds. As Adam Nicolson writes: "They are bringers of fertility, the deliverers of life from ocean to land." A global tragedy is unfolding. Even as we are coming to understand them, the number of seabirds on our planet is in freefall, dropping by nearly 70% in the last sixty years, a billion fewer now than there were in 1950. Of the ten birds in this book, seven are in decline, at least in part of their range. Extinction stalks the ocean and there is a danger that the grand cry of the seabird colony, rolling around the bays and headlands of high latitudes, will this century become little but a memory. Seabirds have always entranced the human imagination... "

  • Need to Know by Karen Cleveland

"Vivian Miller is a dedicated CIA counterintelligence analyst assigned to uncover the leaders of Russian sleeper cells in the United States. After accessing the computer of a potential Russian operative, Vivian stumbles on a secret dossier of deep-cover agents within America's borders. A few clicks later, everything that matters toher -- her job, her husband, even her four children -- are threatened. Vivian has vowed to defend her country against all enemies, foreign and domestic. But now she's facing impossible choices. Torn between loyalty and betrayal, allegiance and treason, love and suspicion, who can she trust?"
