I've got a basic setup sketched out, but I want to get some input and make sure this works for as many as possible.
I used the Read Harder genre list as well as some basic other genres and used a random selection tool to pick a genre for each month starting in February. Each month I will post a nomination thread for books in the next month's genre, and then voting will be open for 4 days around the middle of the month, with the winning novel announced the day after voting closes. Hopefully that would give everyone plenty of time to get the book before the beginning of the month.
For example, February's "genre" is 2018 Award Winning fiction. It's a pretty broad one, but it seems fitting for the beginning of 2019. The schedule would be as follows:
- Nomination thread posted Monday 1/7
- Voting open Monday 1/14 - Thursday 1/17
- Winning title announced Friday 1/18
- Discussion can begin Friday 2/1
Does anyone have other suggestions regarding scheduling, or how to run this thing? I've never done this before so I'm kind of winging it, but I want to give everyone as much advance notice as possible so you can find the book and not feel rushed.
I dig your set up. Let’s give it a month or two and tweak if we need too.
Thank you so much for taking this on. I can’t wait.
I dig it. Maybe everyone can chime in that they're able to procure the book so we know it's not hard to find for the majority? I like the idea of the read harder genre list to take us all out of our comfort zone!
That's a fantastic idea!
