I'm playing Traveller's Rest right now. Cute cozy game with serving meals, crafting, some exploring.
I also have a couple others I'm stalled on right now because they were stressing me out so I'll return to them later: Winter Burrow, Reka, Bye Sweet Carole
Final Fantasy XIV on PC (Crystal data center, Ultros Server in case anyone wants to know), and Brilliant Sort on my phone.
I've been thinking about finally playing Final Fantasy XIV. I've been looking for a good mmorpg to play for a long time. Can't really get into the ones I've tried.
TBH I don't know why I never got into Final Fantasy online games. I've been a rabid final fantasy fan since I got the first one on my nintendo in 1990.
(I had to look up the year lol. Christ I'm old š¤£)
I've loved playing FFXIV. The first 50 levels are a bit of a slog (A Realm Reborn), but after that, the story picks up, and some of the later expansions are some of my favorite expansions of ANY game I've ever played.
One thing that really bugs some folks coming from other MMO's (particularly like, WoW), is that the game is VERY story driven and there are times where there is more talking than stabbing things. I had to tell my husband that the game is a JRPG first and an MMO second, were as WoW (which is all he's ever played) is an MMO first and an RPG second.
Oh now that sounds right up my alley. One of my problems with the MMO's I've played is the cookie cutter nature of them. No story really. Doing the same quests over and over that are repackaged versions of the same thing. "Go to [scary place] and retrieve [precious object]" There's no variety anymore. My husband and I used to play Sea of Thieves and I never really liked it from the get go but now I just can't with it. Same thing over and over and over. It's just boring.
FFXIV is a subscription game right? I always see "play free" but that's really just a trial or something, isn't it?
So, the game does have it's fair share of those kinds of quests. Fetch quests are the bane of every MMO, so, yeah, XIV has plenty of those as well. There's also a joke in the community where they say "this is important information, go tell NPC A about it" who's literally 10 feet away from you. Like......really? But that's just how MMO's be, it seems.
As for playing, yes, it is a subscription. You pay for the game and expansions (I'd have to actually look up the cost on the website because the amount escapes me at the moment). HOWEVER, there is a free trial available, up to level 70. There are limits to the free trial as far as how much you can interact with the community and how much gil (gold) you can carry, but it is absolutely possible to play up to level 70 without it being an issue. If you want to continue past level 70, that's when you have to pay for the subscription (which is $15 per month).
Also, the community is amazing, for the most part. There's always a few trolls to be seen, but a majority of the community just wants people to experience the game, and play it how they see fit to play. And there are TONS of things to do in game, it's not just doing the story, dungeon, and raids. There's so much more.
Edit to add: If you do choose to sign up and play, I play on the Crystal Data Center, Ultros Server. I'm more than willing to make new friends. :D
Thank you!
I've been thinking about scaling down my Xbox subscription to the base one because I hardly ever play any gamepass games anymore. I might try it out! I love my Final Fantasy lol.
Ive been really into Blue Prince recently!
Me too! Although Iām currently taking a break to play some other stuff also.
Hell yes! Itās been a collaborative effort with my partner and my kid too. Iām so hooked on Blue Princes
(Although kiddo says I say it like Blue Prints lol)
I'm kind of bouncing around with my games right now. Getting a little bored with my current rotation.
Started a new farm on Stardew Valley a week ago to replace my original farm from when I first got the game. There's been so many new updates since I played that save, I just started a new one. But I screwed up massively last night and am now pissed off at it lmao. I put the controller down and I thought I hit pause. I either did not fully hit pause or the cat/dog stepped on the controller and unpaused it. But when I came back in an hour or so later, quite a few days had passed. Missed some important stuff, missed the fair, missed watering that stupid fruit that takes all season to grow and threw thousands of dollars down the toilet on pumpkin seeds that aren't going to be ready before winter now. So mad. I hit that pause button! I know it!!!
Cities Skylines. Because I love to deliberately frustrate and irritate myself.
Some time back I got nostalgic for my teen years and decided to replay all the Final Fantasy games, starting with 1. I'm up to 9 now. Took a break a week ago to start the Stardew farm because historically when I play Final Fantasy, I spend literal days grinding and that gets so boring lol. I must've fought that effing undead whale 10,000 times now. Nine always was my least favorite too. At least grinding with 8 you can half ass keep an eye on it while you read a book and mindlessly press the button with your toe 𤣠After I do the Final Fantasy games I'm going to replay Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger. I'll probably go back to this tonight since I'm mad about Stardew Valley. I'm close to beating it. I never actually beat X so I'm super excited to move on to that. Years and years ago, I got all the way to the end and my playstation 2 died. Never got around to beating it.
I'm TRYING to play Red Dead Redemption but holy god I suck at it. Never been so bad at a game in my life. Just finished the tutorial and am like "Welp, don't know what I'm gonna do now."
Honestly I'm in the mood for something different lately. Like a space game or something set in the future. I do still need to play Cyberpunk. I didn't get too far in that. Or maybe Starfield or Outer Worlds. I keep going through my game library trying to decide. I have several games I didn't get too far in. They're also having that sale right now on Xbox so maybe I'll pick up a game with my gift card. IDK
Cyberpunk is so amazing. I highly recommend giving it another go. The beginning is really linear, so it feels like it takes a while to get going, but once it does, ugh. Perfection.
I really need to. I gave it up shortly after it came out because at the time, it kind of sucked in terms of the mechanics. I remember the car handling so badly I couldn't stand it. But they had many updates and an overhaul since I think. I might put it on and give it another go.
Iām doing a brotherhood play through of fallout 4 right now. After that, I want to do another play through of fallout New Vegas again (my favorite game) since itās been a couple of years since I played it. Iām watching season 2 of the show, which has inspired the replays.
Fallout is my favorite game series! Haven't started season 2 of the show yet. I've played Fallout 4 so many times and so many ways that it feels like home.
I agree! Every time I think about playing a new game I just end up starting a new play through of FNV, fallout 3, or fallout 4. Theyāre definitely my comfort games!
I've been very very down lately, don't even feel like playing games half the time.
My hubby and I got back into Pokemon GO recently! We played when it first came out back in 2016 and took a long hiatus! So we walk around and take down gyms and catch pokemon.
Monster Hunter Wilds! Long time fan of the MH series! Wilds doesn't have my heart like Worlds did, but still enjoy it. When Worlds came out I couldn't stop playing.
If it's not MHW, I've been playing here and there BioShock. Starting from the first one since I have the collection. Love the BioShock series!
Really want to start Clair Obscure Expedition 33, because my husband keeps bugging me to start it but like I said I just haven't been in the mood for anything. But I really want to play it! Just gotta be in the right state of mind!
Sorry to hear youāve been down. Iāve had spurts of not wanting to playing anything either and itās one of my only hobbies. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
Bioshock is one of my favorite series! Infinite was the one of the first games I ever finished. Iāve also heard good things about Clair Obscure. It just one game of the year, but the title was removed because AI was used in pre-production I think.
Thank you! It's been an ongoing battle for sure for a bit... Husband always asks if I want to play anything and I'm just like, not really? I hate it. I do force myself to play and have fun, because like you, it's also like the only hobby I do enjoy most!
Yes! I heard about that too! It was for the indie game awards or something of that sort. It was not for The Game Awards that happened earlier this month. I was not aware of the AI stuff till those articles came out. :(
Love BioShock Infinite! Such an amazing game!
love travellers rest. thought about restarting for the holiday event. but i spent the season on fields of mistria and now diving into the Sims 2 legacy while i wait for the full game.
I haven't played Mistria in about a year so I know they updated a lot of stuff and I will probably have to start all over (like I am with traveller's rest haha). I like that one though so it'll be a fun one to play as soon as I can get over the mental hurdle of getting back into it after so much time.
i think itās set for full release or another major update Q1 and you can now go on dates! if romancing is something you like. thatās why i started at least to see new heart events
Iām a survival game junkie at heart, so Ark and 7 Days to Die are two Iām always going back to. Dinosaurs and zombies are great for getting the frustration out, and who doesnāt want to build cute little houses? Or fun little death traps? Both can be single or multiplayer, playing single with the ability to pause is great.
Also ESO, Iāve been in and out for years and have done all the group content. I play it like a collecting/economics game at this point. I can put the controller down and walk away 99% of the time without dying š.
Don't starve and the forest are my go tos, debating getting sons of the forest, too, even though I rarely have time to play :P
I donāt know Donāt Starve, Iāll check it out. I want Forest and Sons of also! I mostly play PS5, which is limiting. My hubs and kids are the PC gamers, so they hog it.
Don't starve is one where you balance water, food and sanity, and keep a fire lit at night, but if you end up in the dark it ends badly for you
That is so up my alley, thank you for the suggestion!
The multi-player version was on for like 5 bucks the other day, too, never tried it, yet, tho
Finally just got the forest during the steam winter sale and I've been sucked in lol
The peaceful mode is a kindness when youre still figuring out how things work, as a small tip, lol
I've been hooked on Love Nikki for a couple of years now, and I was going hard on some other mobile games for awhile but I'm taking a breather from them now because there's been less to do and the events have been unsatisfying.
outside of mobile gaming, I recently started a new island in Animal Crossing New Horizons, literally like 2 days before they announced the 3.0 update so I've been grinding away getting ready for that. it'll be so fun having actual new content to explore!
Guild Wars 2 here, I play 2 days a week for about 2 hrs, husband does the same, and we try to join each other's runs if we can get everyone settled in time, its very fun :)
I am currently obsessed with Outer Worlds 2 and am on my second playthrough
Iām addicted to fallout 76 right now. I avoided it for so long cause itās multiplayer and I always heard it was shit but Iām having a blast.
Iām replaying horizon forbidden west because Aloy is the GOAT and I always come back to this game.
I need to get back into horizon because that game was so fun!
I just run around exploring and collecting things and enjoying the views. I donāt even do a quest sometimes!
75 cap FFXI, anyone? Iām playing on a private server called HorizonXI.
Been playing:
Palia (haven't decided if I like it and I refuse to spend money on in-game purchases)
Borderlands 4 (I've just started my fourth Vault Hunter after maxing out the other three)
Phasmophobia is always a good time with friends
Rimworld - I was on a major kick about a month ago, but I play that one like I play the Sims. Nonstop for a few weeks, then don't look at it again for a couple months.
Big fan of rivals and overwatch! I also love stardew valley, elden ring, zelda fallout!! I really wanna trail clair obscura 33, ive heard great things!
I love stardew, I haven't done the island bit yet so I really should go back over to that eventually.
Valheim (Extreme Survival), WoW MoP Classic.
Right now Iāve been big into House Flipper 2, Crime Scene Cleaner, and R.E.P.O. Iām also on year 5 of my perfection run on Stardew Valley.
My boyfriend just bought me Coral Island for Christmas and I like the different aspects of it, but everything feels like itās āStardew, but,ā so I struggle sometimes to get into other games in that category.
Iām playing Hogwarts Legacy right now. I tried first time right after having my son.. I couldnāt keep up with the story and gameplay, I started it over after he turned 1 and couldnāt even remember the game haha, having a blast this time around!
